    Default Moving out...Room-mates/landlords

    Hey guys!

I know that this subject has been touched on before. I've read posts with similar issues, but not with my precise problem. Also, please move my post if I posted in the wrong place.

So I have to move out of my place by Mar 1st. Ideally I would like to get my own studio, but unfortunately I'm unable to sign a 1 year lease because I plan on transferring schools in less than a year. With that said, I'd probably have to move into a room-mate situation because they tend to be month-to-month or 6 month leases. My club is able to write me a letter of employment. The company listed is not associated with the club and is listed as "Something" Management, which has a legitimate looking website and a real phone number you can call. I'm also listed as an independent contractor. However, the club can only write the amount of money that I make as what "the clubs pays me", which is significantly less than what I actually make. I'm worried that I won't be able to find a place because on paper it doesn't look like I make as much as I really do. How do I go about explaining the discrepancies in my income to my future room-mates/landlord? How much detail do I give about being an independent contractor, especially if I'm living in a room-mate situation? Should I tell the truth about being a stripper or make up some sort of job as an independent contractor? What are some good cover-up jobs?

I am not ashamed about being a stripper, I love my job, and everyone important in my life knows about what I do for money. I really have no problem telling my future landlord/room-mate that I'm a stripper, instead, I'm afraid I won't be able to find a place if I'm up front about my line of work.

I also wanted to point out that I recently started stripping less than a month ago. I've saved up enough money for first month, last month, and security deposit, but not too much after that. I know that on paper it doesn't look like I make too much. My bank statements aren't that great too, since I just started. Before my current sting at my club, I worked as a waitress for over a year and stripped for about 3 months last year. So I do have past pay stubs and tax forms, but that shit ain't that great. Also I don't have a cosigner who can help me out.

Thanks in advance for all of your help! I really appreciate it

I just went through this. Getting into a roommate situation, imo, is different than getting your own apt. where You would have to show more income--assuming that the rent with a roommate is way less where You live, like it is where I live.
I had to lie about what I do, so I know where you're coming from on that.
It's great that you have the taxes from Your waitressing job, as You can use that.
Have You thought of placing your own ad looking for another sex worker/ stripper roommate? That way everything will be upfront, and You will have more control over who You will live with. (I did that, so if You do, just be aware that a lot of guys will answer your ad, even though you put that ur looking for another female).
If it is only temporary, why not stay at an extended stay hotel? (I really wanted to do that, but I don't make stripper money anymore, because I primarily cam now, and the hotels around here are $1000 and more per week.)
I looked for 2 months before I found a suitable roommate to move in with....well, somewhat suitable.
What I found is that a roommate wants to know that you will follow the rules of their place, and not be a psycho axe murderer or something, since you will share their personal space. That translates to say that personal references will most likely be most important, as they were in my case..i.e. ex-bosses, friends, etc.
I was upfront with roommates about not having good credit, and that didn't seem to matter to them as much as what kind of a person I was.
If I can help anymore, feel free to pm me.
    Best of luck.

^^There is a site called roommates.com I only found it after I found the place I'm living in, so I can't say that I have experience with it.
CL was were I put an ad. It's weirdo central, for the most part, but it does hit a big audience. You just have to sift through, and have a ton of patience.

I feel like dancers are good fit for 9-5 room mates. They are gone when you are resting in the day , you are leaving as they are getting home / winding down. It maximizes shared space if it's a good fit.
Print bank statements to prove income.
You'll have to read the vibe / see each situation and then decide whether to disclose.

I feel like dancers are good fit for 9-5 room mates. They are gone Monday - Friday when you are resting in the day , you are leaving as they are getting home / winding down. It maximizes shared space if it's a good fit.
Print bank statements to prove income. I know you haven't worked worked long but sometimes just 3-4 weeks of decent weekly depositors is enough to prove income for renting.
