Default Newbie, never danced, Houston Strip Club help

Hi, I've recently moved to Houston and I'm in really bad shape. I'm considering dancing but have never danced before. I have worked as a cam model in the past. What clubs do you recommend are newbie friendly? I am also ebony but slim-athletic built. I called one club called Treasures to ask about applications and the lady told me to bring 2 forms of id and to come between noon- 3 or from 8-10. She was very rude and didn't inform if there would be an audition process. Ladies help me out. Will I have to audition after I fill an application or will it be on a different day? For any club in Houston. I have no car so within the city limits so I can Uber easily. Suggestions and help all welcome.

Clubs will ask you to bring two forms of ID in case they decide to hire you. But they don't want to tell you if they are hiring over the phone because they might see you and not want to let you audition. My best advice would be to go to club and to look for back ups just in case. Run a search for Houston clubs in the Club Chat section.

I don't think Treasures is newbie friendly. And this beautiful black girl I worked with in Texas told me that they're racist, she went three different times with three different hairstyles and no tattoos and they wouldn't hire her. Ive also heard its a dirty clubs.

Treasures is an okay club, but there are better. 90% of the clubs in Houston are dirty. Not only in the sense that the managers will turn a blind eye to extras, but also physically! We only have a handful of nice, upscale clubs. The good thing about Houston is that because we have such a wide variety of customers, clubs don't really discriminate against colored girls as much as clubs in other cities.
Tip: If a club wants you to bring ID, it's probably one of the better clubs in Houston. Most of the awful dives around here will just glances at your ID to see if you're legal and that's it.

    Well girl, it is Texas.

In some states strip bar managers can get away with openly bigoted hiring practices. In other states they put you through an audition first to satisfy the legal requirements of "equal treatment."

Houston is a big city. Just keep checking out clubs until you find one that suits you.

Houston and Texas clubs do discriminate based upon race; many of the customers and managers are racist and ignorant. Have you been able to experience living or working outside Houston or Texas to notice the different treatment of black people?

A club like Treasures tends to hire a certain look, that is," ghetto fabulous" or hood, even if you're selected to be one of the couple black entertainers they have working a shift. If you don't portray that look I wouldn't allow management to waste your time and uber money, denying you a spot. Try Club Oynx. And your audition normally consist of your walk in being approved by the manager. And I would be cautious being that there's hoes and pimps openly working in the clubs, and managers allow this environment with a fee.

Look as high class as you can. Always helps. Houston is less discriminating against dark skinned dancers compated to Dallas or Austin.

Looking "high class" doesn't help much in a lot of "upscale" clubs in Houston or Dallas for a black prospective entertainer. And it is difficult to get hired And to keep your gig in Austin. Sorry, life is hard just because your of African descent in Southern America.

Speaking of which I need to return overseas/apply for more jobs overseas because I'm getting tired of America and the racism/treatment that comes from a lot of Americans, now. I just don't want to become accustomed to such treatment. As long as you have bias, ignorant and racist people I in control of hiring, management And other staff and alike customers things won't change. Maybe things will change for people of color in America 50 years from now. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much equal treatment from the young generation toward black people. And saying one thing and doing one other thing is different.

This is a topic for another thread but- the main problem with a lot of African-American dancers is....they will cut-throat each other at work and cause a lot of disruption. Strip clubs have a "quota" system for AA girls because some of them will not act appropriately. (Same rule for Misbehaving non-AA dancers, but they usually get shoved out of the front door with force rather than denied a chance to work at a particular club.)

Honey I could give 2 flying fukcs about the origin of the post having to do with racist Texas. My issue is with the use of the word "colored" and no one having the balls to say something about that term. I'm a fssw so my opinions on working in different places will differ because the more racist a town, the better my clientele, so I don't a racist backwoods ass town. My issue is with the young lady that thought we were still in the 50s and deemed it ok to refer to black women as "colored".
Black people have become too soft because they let people get away with this behaviour and don't correct it when they see it. Not I.

Damn baby girl from the way you talk you CAN'T be "colored". You just used the "crabs in the barrel" scenario term to describe black women, smh. Some of "them" will not act appropriately? You seriously need to get called on the carpet for your language.

    ….Are you on meth...?

Look, until you can dictate the hiring practices of independently owned strip bars in right to work states, YOU (no matter what color) will not be able to change the mindset of strip club managers. Sorry. It is what it is.

This is the Internet we are talking on here.....words will not jump off the computer screen and slap you. You are completely having a freak out about a frank conversation about the biases of SOME strip club hiring managers in SOME states of the US.

I'm colored honey you, know meth is a white drug right?
As well I can see your either blind, stupid or both.
My original issue with someone's post was the use of the word colored
I don't need a Becky like yourself chiming in. Are you colored? Did you use the word? Did it offend you?NO
You decided to hop your white self into the mix and defend the use of the word.
This is 2019 you will not defend the use of a backwoods, backwards, racist term.
Do you think motherfukcers have the right to keep using this word?
You bypassed everything I said to point out what exactly?
That you fall in line with the racist bigotry just like the next bitch
but just don't have the balls to admit it?
And I'm a heaux, a sex worker. I dont give a FUKC once again
about any weird hiring standards. Your racist town = money in my black pockets.
Anything else I need to school you on? Hopefully you were listening this time.

    You mis-spelled F*CK!

& I hear with my ears, I don't hear with my eyes. I feel like we're having two totally different conversations here. Also, I'm praying Azaliea Banks hasn't made an account on this site. Ugh.

Anyone who can't deal with different world views is too delicate to be working in strip clubs, no matter what age, color, gender or orientation.

I haven't seen that crab of the barrel theory at the many clubs I've worked at. And if they do do that they're bitches to everyone and queens of the club or the top earners. And it does seem like you are holding a bias or ignorant stereotype that black women cannot act appropriately. You're wrong, that isn't the reason there is a quota system. And I don't appreciate what it seems like you're belitting this other per son. That is not okay.

I disagree that looking high class does not help much in upscale Houston and Dallas club for a black entertainer. The majority of black women I saw working in upscale Texas clubs looked and acted classy, and were doing quite well. It is true that it is hard to get hired, that's why I suggested a prospective entertainer should aim at looking high class when she comes for an audition, to improve her chances of getting hired.

Well, my experience differs from yours. I've had a difficult time with getting hired by managers in Houston, Dallas and Austin. One manager told me from the Mens Club that he didn't want to hire me and me coming in taking customers away from the other women, because the way I look. And it was easier for me to get hired in Manhattan And Las Vegas higher-end clubs. And when I did get hired 1st Texas clubs I was having a difficulty with management, one manager that I've only saw once fired me when he found out I was a top earner; and he supposedly thought I was overcharging.

Sorry to hear about your negative experiences in certain clubs. But do you seriously believe that not looking high class is more advantageous than looking high class for a black girl who wants to get hired at a higher end Texas gentlemen's club?

Texas doesn't have higher quality or more expensive clubs than New York or Las Vegas. So looking high end doesn't matter much. I have worn my Manolos, a nice skirt and fitted top before with high end end make up done and hair and nails and gotten passed over with hood looking chicks and obvious hoes or very plain Janes in "upscale", Texas clubs.g

Depends on the club, I guess. The black ladies I saw working in better clubs in Texas did look classy. That was my experience, personally in clubs catering to older white gentlemen. Very few black ladies got hired, though, it must be true that there is some kind of a "quota".
