    Exclamation Shifting Teeth

To my great displeasure I noticed there's a gap between two of my front teeth where there was none before. WTF?!?! I had braces about a decade ago & have used my retainer once in a while. I don't want gaps in my teeth. That was the whole point of braces, making my teeth look nice.

Has this happened to you? Were you able to re-shift the teeth with frequent retainer wearing?

I had braces when I was little and stopped wearing my retainer and had wisdom teeth coming in so now my teeth aren't as straight as they used to be. I've been thinking about trying invisalign. I don't think a retainer will move your teeth back to normal I think you have to get braces again or invisalign but I could be wrong. My dad used invisalign for a while and it mad his teeth really nice & straight, but I feel like on SW people have had mixed opinions on it.

BTW I think it's because I have a large tongue & I've skipped wearing a retainer a lot to avoid keeping track of it if I remove it for ...um bedroom activities.

Dumbest reason to be single ever- honey gotta dump you, sharing a bed with you isn't as important as wearing my fricking retainer every night

I have a permanent retainer-ish thing adhered to the inside of my bottom teeth. I had it put in because I have severe gingival recession (due to the anatomy of my lips according to my periodontist :/ ) but the dentist explained that she puts them in all the time for people who have just had their braces removed.

My bottom teeth were originally slightly crooked, but after having this thing for about a year and a half now, they're straight and have shifted to follow the arch of this device. But again, I have almost no bottom gums so maybe that's why my teeth have moved?

Just so you guys know, having wisdom teeth removed provides extra room for remaining teeth to move around. I've had a shitload of teeth pulled, so far, so good, but I keep a close eye on it.

Anytime I notice my teeth shifting I just wear my retainer for a week or so at night. Usually helps them get realigned.

Yep I'm rocking my retainer all day now...I'm hoping it will cause a minor adjustment.

& I had all of my wisdom teeth yanked a long time ago, plus two extra eyeteeth!!!. The whole reason braces were done was extreme tooth overcrowding (I inherited my dad's huge giant Joe Kennedy-like teeth...but I have the same proportions as my very petite mom who has a delicate tiny jaw. Farking genetics. lol) So the gap is freaking me the fark out.

My co-worker has Invisalign & I'd personally prefer braces again. The idea of wearing the trays squicks me out...

The trays aren't bad, at least you can take them out at work.

^ On a similar topic i've just been quoted 8gs and 3years for my overcrowded, narrow jawed mouth. PIMA. Wear your retainers- I didn't! I think it will have to wait till I retire...

Update- since I posted this thread I remembered that my orthodontist said I would need many years of treatment- I thought she was lying to me to get more $$$$ but it turns out she actually knew what she was talking about.....

FYI orthodontics are cheaper and just as good in Mexico- something for border state residents to consider.

    This happened to me!

I had lost my retainers (this happened a lot), so I went into my orthodontics to get a new one. I told the doctor my tooth shifted, and he sort of molded the new retainer so it would shift my tooth back. It's been a month and a half and I notice a difference.

Get a new retainer if you can. Otherwise, Invislign or veneers. Lol. I know people who have used/done both with good results.
