I don't like extraneous charges any more than you do, but like sales taxes, registration fees, etc, when buying a car, I consider cover charges to be a cost of doing business. Ditto for rental car fees, or cab fares when visiting out of town clubs. In a land where ATM machines dispense $100 bills, is a $22 cover charge really that much of a deal breaker ? Or maybe you don't "have" so much money after all.
Sorry, can't help you on Vegas clubs (been over 12 years since last visit). To answer the thread topic (even if incorrectly chosen): My favorite time to go is the time between 1 hour before and 1 hour after the shift change. That is the best viewing opportunity for seeing both the day shift and the night shift dancers in one visit. Also a more favorable dancer:customer ratio than jam packed nights.
