Sad Want to dance but I am confused

I have been thinking about dancing for about 9 months. After sleeping on my sisters hard leather couch for Months I made my decision. My problem is I don't want to strip where I live. The clubs are so crappy. I do not have a car but my bestfriend agreed to drive me to one of the closer states to search around. How does interviewing go ? Do stretch marks matter ? Im very thin but have a rather large butt and as a result developed stretch marks. I am not flexible, but I can dance, is not being flexible a problem ? HELP ME !!!

Hello! I was in the same position as you 5 years ago when I first started dancing. To answer your questions--interviewing is very simple. You go to the club, and they have you audition on stage. If you look decent on stage, and carry yourself well, they will hire you on the spot and possibly let you work that same day. You have to bring an outfit with you to audition with (a thong bikini and stripper heels is a good choice, or you could wear a tight sexy stripper dress/skirt set). Stretch marks do not really matter because the dark lighting in the club hides it well, so people wont notice it. Trust me, there are strippers with strech marks and cellulite that cover their entire bodies and they still make money! Being thin with a large butt is a very popular look among strippers and will make you money because a lot of guys like that! so work it! You do NOT need to be flexible at all; as long as you move gracefully and look sexy, thats all that matters. Men arent there to see acrobatics lol. Before you audition on stage, the manager will have you fill out an application with your basic info, and need a copy of your ID/license. They will ask you what days and times you want to work and if you have ever danced before. I would call the clubs you are thinking of checking out to see if they are hiring first, and if you can stop in to apply for a job. Do your research first, look online for the clubs you want to work at to see if they have a good reputation. You should check out the club reviews here. Good luck!! Dont be nervous, just be yourself and keep it simple and sexy. You'll do fine!

You might want to try out the crappy clubs close to home before investing in a cross state trip. Not everyone has a personality cut out for stripping. Just try a day or two at a nearby club to decide if you want to invest in travel just to be sure. I've worked at upscale clubs and I've worked at the divest of dive bars. There is money to be made at every level of club. Starting at a crappy club may be a big confidence booster once you move to a more upscale location, you'll have your hustle worked out a bit and ready to start making some real money.

I agree. But what I mean by crappy is that the managers don't seem as if they are running a business. I have called and actually checked out most. I cant even get my questions answered over the phone or in person.

^Well, I wouldn't consider their phone demeanour to be indicative of how they run the club. Most managers don't want to waste their time talking to a voice over the phone about dancing since the lady may never show up or they may not want to hire her if she does. It's not unusual for them to say to just come in for a shift.

Even in person, unless you're explicitly saying that you're interested in dancing at their club and aren't just bombarding him with random questions, especially when it's busy or the manager is otherwise occupied, I wouldn't necessarily let that be indicative either. Besides, strip club managers aren't exactly well-known for running a tight ship.

That's not to say you should overlook anything blatant, like them allowing open drug use or extras, but you also shouldn't expect the same sort of management as in a more vanilla establishment.

I dunno, I just second TDF's suggestion of checking out a local club before going on a strip trip. Besides, you may find that the local clubs aren't quite as crappy as they appear to you as a newbie from the outside. Once you've been dancing for a bit, you'll figure out what's really important in decent management, and their phone demeanour isn't on the list.

As for your questions -- there is tons of info for newbies on here, so it's very likely your questions already have answers floating around. If you have club/city specific questions, like about local laws or dress codes, run a search for the appropriate city/club. If nothing turns up, check Club Reviews and send private messages to the ladies who reviewed the club/city you're in. I regularly get PMs about clubs/cities I've reviewed and I'm more than happy to answer questions that my reviews didn't cover.

Even still i know for a fact that the clubs here aren't worth it, too many people that dance there want to leave but most have kids and cannot travel. I already called and plan on going to ny sometime next week. That's convenient for me

your location says that you are in Baltimore. I've danced in Baltimore before and it is an OK place to start out. NY is not a great place for new dancers.

If you want to try out Manhattan, you need $150+ worth of dress, heels, and g-string to begin, upwards of $150 just for your first house fee, and that's not including tip out for DJ, house mom, hospitality, or your transportation costs, etc.

If I were you, I'd work at Scores or Hustler in Baltimore to save up some money before heading out elsewhere. You can work a few shifts and make $500-1000. What are the questions you have for management there? You can ask us here on the boards… They're probably being impatient with you because they have a lot of people applying and a high turnover rate… and the case is 100x worse here in NYC for that matter.

Just go in for an audition. They'll answer all your questions IF you get hired. If you don't like their policies, you don't have to start working, you can just skip out and leave.

If you do really insist on starting in NY, I'd recommend Pumps in Brooklyn. It's a good place for new girls and they're lenient with hiring. No tip-outs because there is no house mom or DJ. But also not great potential for money, the clientele is not exactly high-rolling.

Feel free to PM me if you need help.

Yes!!! It's best to try dancing where you are and see if you like it. New York has a lot of potential. But it might be intimidating and hard to make money if you've never even danced before.

Its cheaper to start out in Baltimore too. Buy $40 shoes, $10 bikini from Target, $10 g-string, and house fee probably free for the first day. You don't even have to do your hair up fancy, I've seen a girl audition in street clothes and get hired. Though its not something i recommend.

Thank you all so much. The reason why I said New York is mainly because I have family there. I can stay with them in the mean time because I have to get off of my sisters couch

Just curious, is it new york state or new york city? new york state has some good clubs to work at for beginners. but I agree with the other posters that nyc is not a good place to start. way too expensive to work at and cut throat!

Sorry if I discouraged you about working in the city! Just wanted to give you a heads up of what to expect. I went to Scores a year ago as a customer, and the staff were very nice and welcoming. I went on a Sunday and it seemed slow, but there were still a decent amount of customers. The dancers were mostly foreign women with accents. If you still want to go through with it, give it a try and see what you think. even if it doesnt work out, at least you'll learn something from it. As someone mentioned earlier, Pumps in Brooklyn is a good place to start if you want to have another club to fall back on.

My heart wasn't set on ny I just wanted to go there and work since I could move out of here. I am glad that you gave me a heads up. I really don't wanna give myself the run around If I don't have to. I mean as far as working that is.
