    Lightbulb Negging Customers

It was about half an hour until closing. It had been a shit night and I had lost the last of my fucks about an hour previously. The club was dead except for a group of about 5 dudes that had just wandered in. I went to chat with them. The first guy I talked to would neither look me in the eye or engage in conversations. "How are you tonight?" "Ok." "Having fun?" "I dunno" "Is this your first time here?" Silence.

I got fed up. "You can talk to me, you know. I don't bite. Usually. I usually, almost never bite." Nothing. So I turned to his friend and loudly said, "How are YOU tonight? Are you scared to talk to girls like your friend over there?" He said no, we chatted for about two minutes, I left to go up on stage.

The first guy, who wouldn't look at me, went to my stage, tipped me, and then took me back for a few dances. Then his friend took me back. And if we hadn't closed at that point I think I would have gotten even more out of them.

This isn't the first time something like this has happened to me, and I've started thinking. I've read about pick-up-artists using "negging" on girls to lower their self esteem in order to get them to sleep with them. Does this work on guys as well? Does anyone here use this strategy on guys to gain their interest? I imagine it only works with younger, more insecure men, but I'm excited to keep trying this one out in the club...

I know what you're talking about and I hate when guys do that it's so rude. They can't even acknowledge your presence as if you would ever acknowledge theirs outside of the club. Well when guys do that to me and act extremely uninterested I like to mess with them too so they chill the fuck out. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I think some of them just expect you to say 'wanna dance?' or to be upset that they don't like you and when you throw them off by making fun of them like that and joking around it makes you seem like you don't care either way and they probably like it. That's just my theory anyway.

Lol guys who do this are a joke. Not a way to get attention in the club. I usually walk away, or give them some of the same treatment. I have had guys do this to me and return to spend lots of money on me, though. I don't get it. Guys do this to pretty girls on stage too, they won't tip because they don't want to seem too desperate, but when meth-teeth mcmuffintop gets on stage, they will tip because they want to make the girls they like feel bad about themselves. These "strategies" are all over the internet, it's so lame. As if the hottest girls in the club are gonna go home with your because you ignored them, but sadly enough, it works on really emotionally unstable girls, so guys keep doing it.

....they just still haven't figured out that for the best dancers its just a job... the only reason we give these guys a 2nd thought is because we're trying to figure out how to extract the money if the first pitch doesn't close.... sooner or later most guys grow up enough to realise that sleeping with damaged goods makes them come across as insecure and damaged themselves- and that is no way to attract a dreamgirl. (not to be mean to the emotionally unstable people out there)

This is the precise reason why I read PUA sites and ROK. Yes the extreme idiocy and sexism is blood-boiling but it's important to know how men think IMO.
When you know all the tricks, you can't *get* tricked.

I think that guy was trying to neg you, failed, respected your unflappability and gave in. Like all strategies sometimes it will work sometimes not. I would keep doing it cause you've got nothing to lose and it's fun to fuck with stupid annoying guys in the club.

Ugh. When people say "Okay" in response to "how are you", I give them shit about "How can you be JUST OK? You're in a strip club with boobs everywhere!" If he wasn't negging and was just shy, that might have worked. But anyone who acts like him and doesn't respond to my first joke, I walk away from, though I never considered that they might be doing that.

This does work in the reverse though, if a customer bullshits around after I drop the dance question, or starts asking the what-are-your-hobbies/time waster questions, I'll just stop talking to them and turn to watch the stage while still sitting on their lap. They get desperate for attention and 80% of the time will suggest we go for that dance.

^ I wouldn't already be sitting on their lap, with respect to you hustling the way things work in your club, I feel like they're already getting attention by you being in skin contact with them?

??? How exactly is my club any different other than the lack of champagne room?

It's pretty much the standard for girls to sit on their lap and chat for a few songs before a sale. Any time I sit in my own chair, they give me some spiel about that they "don't bite", and if I crouch down next to them, they tell me to pull up a chair/sit on their lap. They seem to find it cold and frigid if a girl doesn't want to sit on them.

I don't know if this was a neg..sounds like maybe he was just socially retarded. Negging is supposed to be teasing (at best) and trying to take the girl "off her pedestal" at worst. I have had guys try to neg me in the club but it backfires on them. If their wallets aren't open in 5 minutes I'm ignoring them and if they piss me off too much I will not hesitate to make fun of their neckbeards and man titties. Don't dish it if you can't take it.

Edited: I see that you're asking if negs work on guys. Yes I do think they work on some guys, but only "teasing" negs, not mean ones. A good neg should be light hearted and funny, not insulting.

^^Yeah, I think I should have titled this thread "using negs on customers." I don't think that guy was trying to neg me either, but he was definitely projecting all the "I'm not buying" signs until I teasingly insulted him to his friend.

Some men definitely love it because it shows that you're confident. If a guy's on his phone I'll say "Why are you on your phone with all these naked girls around?" or "Stop sexting." If they're wearing those "distressed" style jeans I'll say "did you know there's holes in your pants?" or tell them their beard feels like a brillo pad. The result should be laughter and get them excited about you. You just have to be careful not to take it too far and get friend zoned.

I negged a stockbroker who was really high on cocaine by telling him he was "overdressed" for the stripclub were were in. He actually removed his jacket for the lapdance.

As I said "with respect to the way things work in your club" meaning I understand that certain base levels of contact/interaction are the norm in one club but may differ in terms of whats considered contact/attention in another club.

This has worked for me on younger guys, but almost never on the older ones.

Funny story: I was working one night and all the guys in the club were being cheap as f***. I was getting annoyed, and went to hustle this group of younger guys as a last resort. I explained the options and pricing to them, and of course they started complaining that it was too expensive. I finally just lost my patience and snapped at them, "Look, I don't know if you've ever been here before, but this is a club for guys who have money. If you're broke, you're in the wrong place and you need to leave."

.....They loved it and spent all their $$ on me that night and every other night that I happened to be working when they came in after that. Guys are weird sometimes.

^ Wow, I'd never make money in Phx if most of the clubs are like this. I'd never sit in anyone's lap for free regardless of what they thought or said to me.

^ It's pretty much normal here unfortunately... as is the wearing of just thongs and bras. Michele was appalled at it, haha. I also work in kind of a neighborhood-y club where the guys all want to be BFFs with the girls *eye roll*

On the other hand, I've developed a lot of body language in the lap-sitting that pretty much tells them they better buy a dance or I'm leaving, so dances sell themselves frequently without a word from me. Looking on the positive side!
