Default 5 things you didn't know about being a dancer until you became one......

I like the caption describing dancers knee joints as sounding like a "fork in a garbage disposal unit" bloody true. And yes, I have been assualted at work on more than one occasion. Looking forward to reading this one through...

I would add a 6th item to that list: The sight of cash is no longer impressive.

You know how most people are more likely to use a credit or debit card because it adds a layer of separation between the shopper and his/her cash? I'm the opposite. Cash is easy to come by. Getting that cash into the bank? Not so much.

I bought my Samsung S5 with cash and the clerk was so very impressed that I had paid $700 cash for my phone. In fact, he had to call a manager over to accept a cash payment that large as his terminal couldn't accept it. I'm thinking to myself that is just a typical Tuesday.

Well that's a nice change, an article that isn't subtly poking fun at us or perpetuating stereotypes. I like how they pointed out that most of us had high job satisfaction and other motivations besides money... I bet that researcher was lurking SW.

Rather alarming that it says 100% of girls will get assaulted somehow, also wondering what their definition of assaulted is. I've never had anything happen that I would label as that, thank God, and I try very hard to avoid customers who give me a bad vibe/are wasted/want to know "what they get" in the lap dance room, so that I don't get in a bad situation.

The US DOJ calls sexual assault: "Sexual assault is any type of sexual contact or behavior that occurs without the explicit consent of the recipient."

So by that definition, I think 100% of dancers being sexually assaulted sounds right.

I agree with most of it but others seem off. For example, I never drank or did drugs while dancing and that's a bad idea. I've been sexually assaulted but never punched. I also question things like family life because while I was raised in a two parent (both my biological parents)middle class household this wasn't the case with many of the other dancers ( though more common than many think). Overall the article was pretty good and not stereotypical.

lol....I remember the look on a cashier's face when I plunked down $1,200 (sugardaddy money I used to buy a TV and dvd player for my bff's mom as a gift)

I'm going to read the article, I love Cracked articles.
