Dizzy Interested in dancing but no experience (I have a lot of questions)

Hey,
So recently I have made the decision of living on my own with my boyfriend after being in an extremely toxic situation with my family. I have been struggling to find a job and am finding it harder to be able to financially support myself without working, I have honestly joked before about the idea of becoming a dancer with my boyfriend but he and I both knew there was truth to it. After researching I have become inspired and extremely interested in it. I am not ashamed of my body in any way and think it's a beautiful, sexy, confident thing to express yourself through the nature of seduction. I take it as it is, performing like acting and selling yourself (not body) and being able to free your mind, I know it's not all play and is very hard work. I'm also very shy and believe it would be a great way to boost up my confidence and grow thick skin, having to go up to people constantly would break the shell I'm in. I also have the support of my boyfriend fully and know I'm not doing anything illegal and it's just work like any other job.
From all of this information, do you think I'm right for this line of work?
I also have a ton of questions to ask, I'm sorry if it's a lot I just want to make sure I'm doing things correctly
I will be auditioning for two bikini clubs, what should I wear for this type of club as opposed to a topless/nude?
-Will I have to still bring clothes over it to strip to my bra and underwear or just wear the lingerie without needing anything over it

-If hired, do they keep my personal information on a background check and are you allowed to pick a stage name ?

- How exactly does the lapdance work? Or VIP and how do you go about asking someone if they want a dance and the time frame, and the way they pay you and tip you during those lap dances

- Do you pay the cover fee at the end of the night to one person or at the beginning/ middle?

Any other newbie tips would be greatly appreciated for a shy person
Thank you!

I've only worked in nude clubs but I'm guessing it doesn't hurt to bring something sexy to wear over your bikini/underwear just in case they want that element of striptease. Maybe they don't want it and you'll just be wearing bikini/underwear but it's always good to have options, better safe than sorry.

The personal information and background check thing I don't know. Whether you get to pick your own stage name depends on the club. In most clubs you can, in some clubs you chose from a list, in some you're expected to use your own name (but that's pretty rare I think).

How the lap dance and VIP works depends on the club and the local laws etc. How you go about asking for a dance - check out "Hustle Hut" here on stripperweb, there's lots of threads on that topic.

How they pay and tip you depends on the club. When you pay the house fee also depends on the club.

Just go in and do your best, relax, you'll learn as you go, stick to your boundaries and don't do anything you're not comfortable with. Read "Hustle Hut" for tips on making money and selling dances and VIP.

It's pretty difficult to say if you're right for this job or not, but if you don't have much confidence it could definitely be hard because you need to be able to stand up for yourself or you won't last long or you'll leave this industry with more problems than you started with.

Did you read all the sticky threads btw? The advice for newbies, safety tips and all, there's a lot of good information there.

For tips on the actual dancing there's for example the instructional video thread, https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sh...l-Video-Thread and there's a lap dance video there: https://vimeo.com/23000356
But like I said the style of lap dance depends on the club, the amount of contact allowed can vary a lot.

Keep in mind that every club is different and I can only speak from my own experience and research. You should definitely ask a manager when you go to audition so you can have accurate info.

Stripping isn't really "stripping". You don't have to go on stage with a full outfit and strip down to a bikini. Maybe just go on wearing a dress (one specifically designed for dancers, not a random dress) and take it off by the second song.

When they hire you they usually do a "background check" by just looking up your name to see if you have any felonies. It's not a real background check because that would literally take days. They just keep a copy of your ID and yes, you can pick your own name.

VIP depends on the club. I've worked in some where there's no VIP, just a champagne room and we did dances on the main floor. In others there was a separate room for lap dances and we were not allowed to give dances on the floor. Some clubs make the customers buy a wristband to get into VIP, some don't. Just make sure you ask the manager They'll tell you the rules.

Here's a quick outline of what you'll do to sell a dance: Go up to a customer, introduce yourself and ask if he wants company/to talk/etc. Get to know him, tell him about yourself, stuff like that. That should take 2-3 songs. Then ask him if he's interested in getting a dance. If he says yes the go to where the girls give dances (it's probably a separate area). You can (should) ask for the money upfront. Say "it's only $xx plus any tips you think are appropriate".

I highly recommend you pay your house fee up front. Some clubs' fees will go up every hour and they may make you pay like $80 when it should have been $20 or something ridiculous. After every shift make sure you put away money to pay the tip out for the next night, as well as cab fee if you need it.

The best tip I can give you is to talk to every customer. Don't think about it, don't sit at the bar contemplating if you should talk to this guy or not. Just do it! I have issues with this too so don't worry. But the worst that could possibly happen is that they don't want to talk or buy a dance. Rejection hurts, but potentially missing out on a guy willing to spend money on you is worse!
And don't forget to smile. Smile soooo much all the time!

The advice given is making me a lot less nervous. I can do this!
I was thinking of the name Luna or Saturn and making some little witty sales pitch like "I can make your night shine" or something when using the first one lol

Um no. Just no on "cosmic" names. And for the record Saturn was a MALE deity not a female deity. If you're absolutely dead set on going the planetary route go with feminine names like Aphrodite, Venus, etc.
You're going to get a lot of "But I know that's not your REAL name." You're much better off picking something realistic and strippery.

I personally really like Luna. Saturn, not so much. You want something that sounds feminine and cute/sexy. But pick what you think suits you the best. I prefer "normal" sounding names because if guys ask if it's my real name I can either lie and say yes or "it might be (;".

I say pick the name that you feel embodies your new persona best and gives you the most confidence. Seriously, if you can rock the name "Candy" and it works for you and gets you noticed then dont let anyone stop you. That being said, I was going to do a silly stripper name like "Catsy" but chose a more believable name that still worked really well with my character and Im super happy that I dont get the "well what's your real name?" BS lol.

Well Candy Barr was pretty successful back in the day.

As you gain experience you will learn a lot including whether or not this was a good opportunity or not. At 31 I am a much better entertainer than I was at 19 or even 25. Ive had about every mood swing you can have in this business. Changed cities, clubs and even countries. Now I am very happy to be doing this and still on my A game at 31. I feel I can do this another 5 maybe 8-10 more years and then move into management or club ownership.

My best advice to new dancers is this. Learn by watching the top earners, don't do extras, you're not there to make friends, study customers and get involved here on SW!

I was thinking about it and really liked the name Scarlet, it's sexy to me and reminds of the scarlet letter and is a real name. And what about topless clubs? Are the clothing requirements different during audition and do you wear a full outfit and then strip to your lingerie and then take off your bra? And do you keep your bra on during the floor or your clothes and strip during the lapdance ?

btw you guys are amazing I'm so excited to get into this field and inspire others and make them feel confident doing this as you do

I think all these rules depend on the club. At my topless club you need to be wearing something sexy and easy to take off. Bra-ish like top and (sexy) underwear are pretty standard but you can get creative. Im learning that the stretch two piece outfits that come in the little boxes are cheap, look good walking around in, and taking off. Like I said it may be different where you audition but another typical thing is to have your top off by the end of the last song. Comfortable stripper heels are wonderful. My boots are magic (hold my money, make me confident. Seriously I love them so much I gave them names... ebony and onix. Lol) So having a good luck charm might give you some subconscience good vibes too! Lap dance is on your terms but I use the same meathod (top off by end of first song.) Where im at you can walk around with your boobs out all night on the floor if thats your thing. Mostly its whatever you feel comfortable with. You can def ask your club though, they're usually more than happy to let you know. As for your names, Luna seems cute and mysterious while Scarlet seems hot and fiery (Your thing could be wearing red too!) Saturn is kind of aloof, mysterious, and cold to me. Gotta say I love the idea of Scarlet (Also sounds like star-lit) but I bet you'll rock whatever name you choose.

Just go with Scarlett if you want something "strippery", realistic sounding and that isn't a candidate for "Worst Stage names"list. It's the best choice you've come up with so far.
