Dizzy How do I tell my parent's I'm a stripper?

I'm leaving my boyfriend and I am just going back to dancing after a break. I don't have the money to move into my own apartment because I am a weeee bit in debt from when I was unemployed and my soon to be ex refused to let me go back to dancing. (I stayed because otherwise I'd have been homeless) But now I need to get out and while I pay off my debt I'll be living with my parents. I lived with them briefly years ago while I was dancing before I moved in with the soon to be ex and told them I was a cocktail waitress. I have a feeling that lie isn't going to work twice. I have a sneaking suspicion they knew what I was doing but we've never had the talk so I can't be sure. I'm scared they won't want me living with them if I'm dancing, and I really need to get out of debt. I have a very part time job at the mall as a cover for my income. I work >10 hours a week usually sooooooo that won't pay my bills! I'd rather not be sneaky and do day shift, I'm not about day shift at all. I don't know how to explain being out till 6 am.

Pretty much I'm looking for the easiest way to rip off that bandaid without them freaking the f*ck out.
    Ideas? Past experience?

I don't think you have to tell them. It's not like they are your accountants and know all your bills and finances. For all they know you could have a generous boyfriend or you picked up extra mall shifts.

Just don't leave your stripper sh*t lying around.

If you must tell them then wait until you've paid off some of your debt and got your credit improved so if if doesn't go well and they kick you out then you have a good chance of getting your own place.

Yeah.... But I'll be living with them temporarily. That's my problem.

Keep quiet. Its easier to seek forgiveness than permission.

I don't tell anyone. Its become routine. I get ready at work and leave all my clothes in my locker and don't bring things home. I babysit on those nights - over nighters. Easy. For the one family.

Just keep it really simple. Don't get into long talks about work/money. Compartmentalize.

I was thinking of telling them I babysat for my friend that's a dancer. I've actually done this for her many times in the past so I don't think it would raise any red flags for a while. They know my friends a dancer too so the late hours are totally explainable.

Can you claim to be a Go Go Dancer for EDM parties? Just wondering. That might go over better.

Say your friend is bartending instead of dancing. I feel like the less stripper talk, the safer it is.

The babysitting story would probably work! There's also lots of other jobs in the service industry that have late night shifts like waitressing, bartending, coat check, bottle service waitress etc.

Just make sure you keep your dancing shit well hidden

Speaking from painful experience....lie as long as you can. Often people are happier living with an "open secret" situation than having a truth rubbed in their face.

^ I was going to advise the same. I had people freak over coctaiking in a club in college so when I later danced, I kept it ultra quiet. It was a hassle to lie for so long but ultimately probably less hassle than fielding reactions.

My friend tells her parents she cleans a bunch of small offices late at night. Most office cleaning is done after hours and small businesses usually hires a cleaning service.

Personally, I would just tell them waitressing again since it's something you would apparently have experience with, but (from you've said so far) I have a feeling they already know you danced and are just treating it like the elephant in the room.

When I first started, I wasn't sure what my family's reaction would be. I took the "easier to ask forgiveness than permission" route and booked it to the club with a friend to audition. I came home and immediately told my mother that I got the job to get the bandaid off. No one was happy about it at first, and some of my family still gives me shit, but she's the only one that matters and she hasn't minded in a long time.
Exotic dancing is like any other job.
If you work in an office, you wear dress shoes and a suit.
If you work in a restaraunt, you wear skid resistant shoes and a uniform.
If you work in a strip club, you wear 7" stilettos and lycra g-strings.
