Default Tips for toning up/losing weight?

I have some weight to lose but I'm not even quite sure where to start. I know a ton of strippers are fit and wondering if any of you have any ideas to help me. I do have access to a fitness recreation center but truthfully I've been there done that and while it did work *sort of* it was incredibly boring and I can't help but feel like I've wasted part of my life in a gym, I think it was my diet that helped more, but I was still flabby. Also I hear the people there are somewhat judge-y since it's all college students like myself and I don't like putting up with that unless I'm getting paid for it I literally know nothing about lifting technique. The exigence for this is that there's a strip club hiring and I'd love to start, but I need to be fit first, at least for myself.

Should I just do the gym thing, or are there different workout programs you would suggest? I don't have a ton of money to drop right now but I would if worth the investment in the long run. Thanks in advance for the help!

Honestly calorie reduction to slim down then cardio and other exercise. If you are out of shape and overweight it's not good to be slamming down your extra weight on your joints while working out when you can slim down first and then start trimming excess weight.

You also need to examine your situation- have you been not exercising for a long time? How far can you run before you are out of breath? Most of the time a gradual workout schedule is better than jumping into something and getting hurt, then stopping completely.

I've been losing weight this winter (a damn miracle in an area with harsh winter and little sunlight) and what worked for me is less sugar in my diet, more fiber/veggies...and less meat. Do a lot of reps of arm & leg exercises with small dumbells (this works as a free workout at home.)

Also do you have any old injuries? I have to work around mine. If you are working out at home on your own, take care not to aggravate old knee & back injuries.

You can also get an amazing workout with just bodyweight... If you're looking to incorporate weight training after slimming down a bit via cardio then these workouts are great: http://www.buzzfeed.com/sallytamarki...ight-exercises

As far as diet, you don't need to do anything super complicated... Just make small changes you'll be able to do consistently. The key is to make sure you can stick with something. Lessen your processed sugar intake, cut out any white carbs (bread, pasta, etc) and replace soda and alcohol with unsweetened tea or water. Good luck!

One of my favorite co-workers (a bouncer) just did Charles Atlas-style workout (very simple stuff) and he looked like a Magic Mike male stripper. You really don't need a gym membership to get buff, it just makes it easier & gives you access to many machines and weights.

Also reducing but not eliminating fat intake is key. Your brain needs fat to function and your joints will suffer if you don't eat any fat.

step 1. have a kid. step 2. enroll in school full time and work 4 nights a week. step 3. be too tired/busy to eat. live on coffee, tea and pbj's.

Seriously though if you're looking into stripping and you're not super overweight, just start stripping. You will lose weight pretty quickly especially if you clean up your diet (or don't have time to eat.)

Threadjack, but- this sounds so hard. When I had a schedule like this I would often catch myself falling asleep while driving my car. My point, not a lot of people are even able to handle a schedule like this..

Hey everyone. I didn't ignore your answers or anything, I was just busy last night and didn't have any real time to check. Thanks for all the answers. I always hear debates on cardio vs. weight lifting and I suppose it wouldn't hurt to incorporate both. And thanks for the idea on the paleo diet - I know what eating healthy is, but then you go to actually do it and you're just like, how? So I've got some good ideas here. Thanks all who took the time to reply!

Starting stripping right away would be a good idea to get a good workout, and though I'm not super overweight, I'm pretty short so any extra weight on my body counts, and is definitely noticed by others, so I think I should take some time to tone up first.

Yep...being short makes extra weight look like it's double as much. I still look rotund & I'm only 10 lbs overweight. It's a battle when you are petite.

The only way to tone up and lose weight is to shift your lifestyle to that of someone who is toned and fit. So, exercise, and diet, obviously, but specifically, you have to experiment with what works for you.

Lifting weights 3x a week and eating vegetarian is how I get to my skinniest. I actually never do cardio, aside from walking, unless I'm at work.

Cut down your caloric intake and have your diet be mostly fiber and protein with less carbs and sugar. For exercises, I would highly recommend cardio kickboxing. It will help you burn calories and fat, and if you want to get toned the best thing for that is training with weights. doesnt have to be heavy weights either. Resistance exercises help build lean muscle and tone your body, while cardio helps you burn fat. Always eat a full, healthy breakfast and then eat small meals and snacks throughout the day while being active.

I run, I run a lot. I'm currently training with a goal of a 5:00 mile in mind. So, I ran about 50 miles per week during January and February. Now, I'm dialing it back a little with three hard/fast runs per week, two easy-long runs and two core sessions with my personal trainer. Plus, I do a :30 minute core session on my own every night before bed. Nutrition wise, the science says endurance runners should be getting most of their calories through fats. I'm not there yet. I'm more carbs than fats.

I am trying to loose about 35 pounds total so far I have lost 5lbs so only 30 more to go YAY! I have cut out a ton of sweets, I am eating a lot more vegetables, fruits and whole grains, as well as beans black beans are just yummy to me. I do drink coffee but for now I have cut out tea (I have to have sugar in mine though I have greatly reduced the amount I am using). I recently got an elliptical which the first week was just hell I couldnt believe how little I could do on it. Now I am up to almost 30 mins at a time and have moved up three levels in less than a month. So it is doable. I was completely out of shape. I have noticed I have lost over an inch on my waistline even though my weight on the scale has not moved that much. I want to be over all healthier it is not just about the number on a scale. I also want to lose some bulges in certain areas that I am not happy with at all. If I can do it anyone can.

I work out from home. Youtube has plenty of workouts you can do for free. my husband bought me an eliptical for christmas. I used to spend 70 dollars a month on gym plus gas getting there and back. I put that money in the bank now. These are the channels i get most of my workouts from. Cutting out the sugars and white starches seemed to help me lose weight best.

Bigger engines burn more fuel. More muscle burns more calories. Do a sensible exercise program including weight resistance and follow a sensible diet - knock out as much sugar as possible ; avoid dairy and white flour etc. The more low sugar veggies ( greens ) the better.

On the whole "wasting your life in the gym" thing...I understand what you mean. That said, unless you're a freak of nature, you probably waste way more time doing other things that are far less healthy / helpful than spending time in a gym. Yeah, I 'waste' 1.5 hours in a shitty apartment-complex gym that smells like bad air freshener 3-4x/week. But I also spend 2+ hours a night watching Netflix, often lay around reading for hours at a time, etc.

Time spent in the gym is never a waste. It may not be as glamorous as going to yoga (if you can afford it, look for an unlimited monthly pass), and it may not be as relaxing as a nature hike (definitely try to incorporate hikes into your new, active lifestyle if you can). But it's the thing you're most likely to do consistently. Hiking is great, but it's unlikely that you'll do that more than once a week. Yoga is fantastic, but unless your studio is five minutes away from where you live, you'll probably only end up doing that a couple of times a week after your initial excitement wears off.

My gym is a short walk away from my apartment, so it's easy for me to pop over there whenever I feel motivated. I spend a half hour lifting (I don't have a lifting routine, I just play around with targeting different muscles and challenging myself), and then I spend an hour of cardio on the elliptical. I watch something on my phone during my cardio workout (Victoria's Secret Fashion Shows, T.V. show episodes, music videos, etc.). I also try to go for a walk around the neighborhood every evening, just to get my blood moving beyond the time I spend in the gym. And lately, whenever I'm on Netflix in the evenings, I've started spending that time stretching on the floor.

Flexibility, weight-lifting, cardio. Try to get all of those into your routine. And healthy, clean eating, of course, but that goes without saying!

I've been going to the gym for well over a year now, about a year and a half and I'm still as fat as I was when I started. I do notice a difference at times but I have really bad pms every month that lasts about two weeks, during those two weeks I eat more, I'm bloated and mess up any progress I've made up until then. I've come to the conclusion that only a drastic diet could get things really moving. I've lost weight doing a crazy diet years ago but now I just don't have the strength to pull it off even tho I know only the first two weeks are hard and then the body pretty much adjusts to it and that becomes the new 'normal'. maybe once I have less stress in my life I can focus more on dieting, sadly I find it hard now but no issues going to the gym. For anyone lacking motivation I strongly suggest you go to a supplement store and get a good pre-workout. They come in yummy flavors I usually start drinking mine at home and finish by the time I get to the gym. I have all the energy to pull off a decent workout without wanting to stop after 10 minutes.. Well decent for me is 40 min cardio ( sometimes if I really enjoy the music I'm listening to I'll do 45) Elliptical is my fav but if you like running or stationary bike that's cool too, or just walk. I also listen to some upbeat music.. I could not do my cardio without music as I find that that too gives me energy. After the cardio when I feel like I do a bit of weights.. Not free weights because I have no clue how to do those but those machine ones.. I've noticed that when I do weights more often it really shows, I look more toned than when I do cardio only. As for pre-workout I used to use superpump, Superpump Max and the one I have now I think is called neurocore (or something similar) I always take less than the recommended dosage and it's more than enough for me to look forward to my workouts and have the energy to finish them..
