Default Help! Can anyone in NY help me do my roots?

Agh sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I'm at my wits end and don't know where else to turn to.

I used to go to a high end salon in Manhattan and they were able to lift my level 2 hair up to platinum without any breakage. Unfortunately, I can't afford their prices anymore. Part of the reason I kept paying so much for this salon was because anytime I strayed and went to a cheaper salon, I always had chemical burn, orange roots, and breakage. Or I would have to bleach twice to get it to platinum. And then I would get those awful yellow bands in my hair.

after explaining my financial situation, my colorist took pity on me and gave me the name of the bleach and magic formula she does for my hair so I can do my roots. I'm too scared to do this on my own and was hoping maybe someone with color experience or someone who knows the pain of going platinum can help walk me through it. I'm at the point where if I don't do my roots soon, they won't lift as light and I'll get another band. My birthday is coming up and I feel like crying thinking about how I don't even have the money to do my hair. I know there's worse things to cry about, but I worked so hard to achieve this color only for everything to go down the toilet :/

I've thought about dying back to my natural shade of hair, but with how short my hair is, I think I need to stay platinum for now to keep it a little more sexy for work. I've had short dark hair before and was mistaken for a boy a couple of times and I don't wanna have that look for the club. And I have the magic formula of lifting dark hair to platinum without breakage. I just need someone to show me how to mix and put it on my roots and kind of help supervise my first time to make sure all my hair doesn't go falling off. I've looked at YouTube videos, but I'm just scared.

:/ please help as I've never done my own roots before!

Any chance of using a wig, @ least for a bit? I was going to suggest a beauty school, but..you're kinda like a guinea pig there, although there's some good ppl. Hope you can get it done!

Honestly I would not try it.

Any overlap of those chemicals onto previously bleached hair and you are going to get breakage. It could ruin your hair.

Can you work some extra shifts to come up with the money?

What is the bleach and magic formula your colorist gave you?

i know it's not much help, but I've started bleaching my roots myself at home. I did it twice already and it looks rally good without breakage. I had the same issue, my hairdesser was ridiculously expensive and a cheaper one caused breakage.

I have no breakage at all and my hair looks better than ever. HOWEVER i'm not quite platinum, but very very light with some platinum highlights from before. I simply use a bleach and only use 10% developer and leave it on for max 20 min.

Hey guys just wanted to update. I ended up working extra hard to save up the extra money. But going from Level 1 hair to level 10 almost 11 is time consuming and expensive in new York. I pay nearly $600 to get my roots done right and when money was flowing, it wasn't a big deal, but with my rent and utilities being nearly $2000 a month, I feel that money could be better used towards other things.

I got them done and must say my hair looks amazing. I have no breakage whatsover, hair feels smooth and silky like normal, and it reminded me why I pay so much to go to her. If my base color was lighter, I could afford cheaper salons. But getting dark, thick Spanish hair to white without breakage is a miracle. She said if I want to maintain my roots this bright, I should go to a cheaper salon and get my roots done every 2-3 weeks so they'll lift quickly without breakage. But she warned of overlap so it's still a risk.

she uses olaplex and seventh stage lightener to get me to level 9. then at the end she leaves a stronger bleach for 10 min to add that extra bump from level 9 to level 10/11. But I believe it's her precise application that is the reason for my lack of breakage. Im in the salon for 8-9 hours but no brassy, damaged blonde for me

Yeah, thanks! I've been wanting to try Olaplex, it's new @ salons & supposed to be much better/easier on hair.
