Default Creating a Space for cam work (My house has no doors)

I'm hoping some of you ladies will have some ideas that haven't occurred to me.
I moved to a lovely house with my very open-minded, supportive, and communicative boyfriend.
We are both attempting to work from home, and it's a big enough house to do this... but there are no doors. It's hard to describe, but this house has a very open layout.

My objective is that I would like to avoid having him hear me work --he knows that I intend to do this, but it would be uncomfortable for both of us to know he can hear me having a screaming orgasm while he's trying to work, too.

Have any of you ever had to set up a space within a bigger space? The bedroom is huge, with a big hallway leading to it, and there's no way to just close it off.
I considered setting up a pop-up tent and camming from inside that :p
Or there are cubicle partitions, but that'd be a pricey investment up-front; not very practical.
Or I've seen references here to camming without the sound, but it seems like that would undermine sales in a big way.

    Please advise, I am stumped.

it wouldn't stop the sound but you could check the thrift stores for those dressing room partition screens

Do a search for a "room divider". Target has a lot of nice ones on their website. You could use this to block the view and then maybe just play music throughout the house to help drown out the noise of your voice.

You could make a 3 panel divider using soundproofing panels

But instead of wood you might be able to use soundproofing wall panels

    Thanks!

I think that's gonna be our best bet: some kind of room divider to give me the feel of going into a work space, and the music playing in the room _between_ the rooms we work in, so we hear that first and it drowns out the more distant sound of the other person.

If we make something like in that video, we could glue a few soundproof panels onto it, then drape some fabric over for looks, and it should dampen the sound pretty well. Then again, soundproofing panels are a bit pricey, but this bed pad looks like it'd make a good substitute that I won't feel bad about cutting up http://www.amazon.com/Duro-Med-Convo...=soundproofing

If that doesn't help, he can always get sound proofing headphones. Does he game at all?

    My husband uses these,

Good suggestion! It's funny that we hadn't thought of that; he has a pair that aren't soundproof but still pretty good that he used to wear at work. We've just moved and I guess it's kind of hard to think straight getting started with this. We're both a little anxious, trying to get together all the things we need. But I'm really excited to get started and start making _money_

I used to cam in a studio apartment and had landlords that would drop in on a moments notice so I bought an IKEA loft bed....put up curtains and started camming from under it.

I have never had a custie in the three years that I've been camming ever ask me. "Um, are you under a loft bed?" They all assume I am in a room.

Nice! I like the idea of having this little enclosed space. I bet it makes it easier to light accurately, too.

Yep, you totally called it. I loved that I was able to control the lighting in that small area easily.....not to mention having a loft bed doubles the space you are in because you can now store a whole ton of boxes on top of the bed since you aren't sleeping on it. (I guess unless you decide to move where your bed is now and want to sleep on it. LOL!)

I also had a rolling desk inside the space because we had no carpet so that allowed me to change my working position super easily. Those were the days.

If you are going to get a loft bed, I highly suggest getting a wooden one and not a metal one. That way you are able to put up shelves and make the space totally customizable. I had one of those flexible IKEA mirrors you usually see mounted in the shower attached to the side of the bed so I could quickly pull it over to do makeup touch ups while I was standing up.

P.S. I don't know how it is where you are located but an unexpected benefit of working in the space that I found was that I was able to write off that space off in my apartment for tax purposes because I was able to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was only used for work.

How did you do the math for that tax write off? Did you measure the space and figure out how much of your rent went to it by proportion? The receipts I squirreled away for past income tax returns have always come in way under the standard deduction, but then again, I've never done work that paid really well. Could deduct the bed, too, since we already have a sleeping place!
I'm going to start out with a simple wood screen, but I really like this "tiny workspace" idea; it's like those tiny houses on wheels! Everything I need for camming built into a neat, orderly space that I can decorate as incongruously from the rest of the house as I like

Another easy thing that could help is play music in the hallway directly outside the room then he plays his own music too. I'd imagine eventually you will both get used to working together xx
