Default I need some opinions on rebranding (should I or not?)

I'm considering re-branding myself a little bit with a name change.

I'm known as Staples right now and I think people are just having a hard time latching onto that as a name. One woman pointed out to me that it's difficult for someone to hear my name and think sexy thoughts. Moaning "staples" just doesn't sound right to a lot of men.

I'm thinking of turning staples into my last name and going by the name "Stephanie Staples", or something similar.

Could re-branding and creating a new streamate account (or changing my name if they will let me) be beneficial to me or should I just stick with the name I've branded myself with and make it work?

I chose staples because it's something I'm connected with and it's something that friends in the BDSM scene actually call me. Now, I'm thinking if I decide to film more hard-core porn and if I want to connect with my fans a little better a new name might help me.

    What are your thoughts?

Well damn it LOL I just did a google search and there is a music artist named Stephanie Staples. I might need to pick a new first name.

From my experiece, it doesn't really matter. The ones who want to know your first name ask about it anyway and you can tell them whatever. Those who don't won't moan it lol. You can put it elsewhere on your profile or topic or somewhere in your room for people to see it.

That's kind of what I figured for the camming part of it but what about if I'm trying to build an entire web presence? A marketing brand I guess is what I'm referring to.

If you have a site, a twitter and so on you still have a ton of possibilities to let people know what to call you when you're intimate. Your cam/model alias can be sort of your ho superhero name =). Just IMO the first name-second name thing isn't as catchy as a nickname.

Not into bsdm, so it holds magazines together. Not sexy, add a first name to it. There are many first names that start with an S, just don't go for unusual spellings, makes it harder to get type in traffic.

I thought it was just a nick name on here & never thought more about it. A catchy easy name is important in any type of entertainment business. Stage names are IMPORTANT Cary Grants real name was Archibald Alexander Leach. Do you think he would have had the same movie star career with that name.

Fans don't give a fuck about the story behind the name. They don't give a fuck about what it means to you or the bsdm community. Sexy Suzy Staples is good. A man would want to click on that name to see what it pulled up. Staples, reminds me of staples & the office supply store, not a sexy gal I want to see naked.

Keep in mind that the Staples store might one day sue you for just the single name of "staples" copyright infringement. Do you have enough money to fight them in court?

Sam, some of what you are saying is exactly why I'm considering re-branding. I'm wondering if I need to get a completely new streamate account (and other accounts) or if I can talk them into doing a name-change for me. I know a couple of the sites I work for will do a name change for me if I explain what I'm doing but I'm not sure about streamate.

I tend to go by "Kinky Staples" or some variation of that on cam sites so I'm not so worried about the company suing me but the thought has crossed my mind a time or two lol.

Kinky Staples still doesn't grab me. You can do better.

Even if you have to start over again, your guys will find you. Have a bit of faith in them.

As someone who is kinky as well, I think it's awesome that you've found a kink that you truly love. It's not something that I'm into personally, but I totally respect you for doing what you love.

To be honest, professionally I'm not sure it's the best, and I'd consider rebranding. When I first saw "Kinky Staples," my initial thoughts were about a 50/50 split of "Huh?" and "Office supplies?" When I realized that it was your kink, I'd like to pretend that my first reaction was "That's cool," but my very first reaction was about 85% "Ouch!/Yikes!/Do not want!" and 15% "Huh?" I know it turns you on, and that there's a portion of the kink community that feels the same, but for the general population, staples are a bit of a boner-killer. Most people spend their whole lives hoping to never get any part of themselves caught in the stapler, and medical staples are associated with a serious injury/surgery. I hope that doesn't come across as overly harsh, because I'm sure that it can be a very sexy experience, but for those of us that aren't into it (yet), it just sounds unpleasant.

I think throwing a very sexy, feminine name in front of "Staples" would really go a long ways for you. People that aren't into staples will probably just ignore/forget your "last name" entirely, and for those that are into it or are curious, it's still there to be a conversation starter. I feel like "Sylvia" would be kind of cool. To me, she sounds sexy, classy, and naughty, and definitely like a woman that deserves a good spanking!

Thanks for that! Not too harsh at all. I get a lot of those reactions. I actually have had a few guys disappointed that I'm not a sexy secretary with a thing for office supplies LOL.

Realistically, I highly doubt Staples is going to come after you especially since they didn't invent the word and the context is totally different, so there is no real infringement. How many places are named metro, global or acme etc? Not to mention it would be foolish of them PR wise to persue such a thing.

In any case, I can understand why you would want to add to the name. I think you should keep Staples but add a first name like you mentioned. I think Staci Staples has a nice ring to it.

Some of the best advice I ever got from a camgirl about a name was something along these lines. Make sure that you use a "real" sounding name, since guys want to have a 3D version of you in their heads/lives etc. I re-branded about 8 months ago (i went from some ridiculous name to the one I have now) and I was terrified that no one would recognise me, but all I did was just changed my twitter name first, then took each other change week by week. If you are working on a new project, use the new name from now on, so that you can slowly phase every other account with your old name out.

I figured it was best to bounce this old thread instead of creating a new one since it really isn't that old and I am having the same type of problem.

I have a question for the girls who have rebranded themselves in the past.

I am currently in the process of rebranding....I've already changed my Twitter name and bought the new domain name for my new stage name but I am not really sure which is the best thing to tackle next when it comes to rebranding. I could really use some advice.

I rebranded my name too last year when I moved to streamate, changed my twitter name and so on.
Now represents me entirely. My sassy, sexy, elegant, classy bla bla attitude hahaha.

If you feel like glamorous too, you can use GlamorousStaplesss, StaplesDiva, or Divine Staples, LuxxuriousStaples, MarvelouSStaples, HottesStapelsss (from "hottest"), etc. You name it. You have lots of choices. U just need a good moment of inspiration.
U need a sexy name that also provoque the reader's imagination to something ...above the other. Also makes the member think that you are one special model and they will tend to spend more to show you they worth your attention .
Kinky, mistress, etc..is common and everyone use it. Don't be afraid to use soemthing BIG.

    Default Changing your cam persona

    Hi girls,

I am considering changing my cam persona. I have been camming on AW for 2 years and currently in the 'MILF/sexual sex crazed woman' category but the fetish side of things is really drawing me. I think I have the skills for fetish and dom work (they probably need honing) but it worries me to change to this as I do well doing what I do currently.

I have looked on fetlife but its so difficult to navigate (in my opinion)
Has anyone successfully changed their cam persona and does anyone have any tips?

    TIA

Maybe keep doing what you're doing but gradually push it domme as you work your way into it. I agree. Fetlife is hard to use for info.

So over a year after starting this discussion, I finally pulled the trigger and started rebranding. I'm already seeing positive results! Just thought I would post an update. Luckily my two main cam sites let me do name changes instead of starting from scratch! Social media was pretty easy to switch over too.
