Default NYC girl needs other work suggestions

Sooo...I hate saying "running out of options" but with my time frame as of now, I feel pretty screwed. I've been living in a really toxic situation at home and just need to get out of here asap. I still live with my folks and it's just not a healthy environment for me. For my sanity and well being, I would love to find my own place, but I've been unemployed for a while now and I do not have the means. I've been given a deadline by my parents to move out by April. I have always been interested in the sex industry, and have done fetish sessions, lap dancing, and peep show type gigs before (wasn't actually peep shows but more like rooms where touching occurred). Lately I have been thinking of going into dancing since I've always wanted to try it out. I've just been too chicken to try out especially since I feel like my body isn't its best at the moment nor does it seem ideal for the less strict clubs. I've been advised to try mid tier clubs but I have no money to buy a gown and shoes and thong that are required. I don't know what else I can do in such a little amount of time that can get me decent money to move out, while being legal and safe. Realistically I understand I probably won't be making great money especially right away, but I'm completely broke and I'm basically just looking for anything I can do that will be sufficient enough to live on my own, frugally (just for rent and necessities, not lavish things). "Normal" jobs never seem to want to hire me due to my lack of education and experience either. Maybe parties? ("safe" ones of course) I have some limitations because I'm paranoid about doing anything unsafe or risky enough to get me into trouble. Thinking of doing peep shows, but obviously I don't think these things are enough to get by... Anyone from NYC have any suggestions?

I dont live in that area or work in clubs so my advice may not be very helpful - try thrift stores to find basics or maybe someone at the club can loan you something to wear your first day - IDK - if you have no choice seems like the peep show is at least something coming in until you find something else - maybe try posting in the stripping section for more specifics on how to get started at a club - good luck

There really aren't peep shows in NYC. If you don't want to buy a gown which will run you $100-200 then you can work at a club that allows lingerie like in the outer boroughs. Any bra/panty set and civilian heels should get you by for a few days. Then, you can invest in a gown and proper shoes. You can also buy these things online and save a few bucks but I recommend trying the gown on and at least trying the shoes on in a store so you know what size to order online.

I've been on the site lurking for quite a while. My situation to yours was pretty much identical and it compelled me to respond.

If I were looking for quick cash and lack experience in the adult business, I'd start simple. Go on craigslist and rent a room in the outer boroughs. You can find something for about 400 if you're creative. If you have limited funds for beauty products, I've used Avon (the quality is impressive). Clip coupons, save-save-save and put your things into storage. Bring only enough stuff into your new room so that you can pack up and leave fast if sh*t hits the fan with your parents or new roommates. If you live with your parents you probably have enough stuff to fit into a small room. A 5x5 unit should be sufficient and can be had for 50 bucks a month or less. A cheap prepaid phone can be had for about 45 bucks a month (taxes included) and you can shop at Aldi's for groceries.

Contrary to what the media likes to say, stripping is HARD work. You are in 7 inch heels for 7 hours...and you have to be graceful, gorgeous, and gregarious at the same time. Since you are likely stressed I would look at other options outside of the adult business. Choose an odd job that pay cash (ie: babysitting, editing papers, tutoring etc) until you have the emotional energy for adult work. If you have a strong work ethic you can make money comparable to what you would take home if you were to dip into adult work right away)

Stripping/escorting/domineering/etc. is a SALES job. Customers expect you to be on point and pleasant. If you are depressed and frustrated, that will compromise your ability to be consistently accommodating which WILL sink your earnings dramatically. With the advent of reviews it may sink your ability to obtain repeat business as well.

The nyc adult market is SO over-saturated I would recommend being as frugal as possible and finding alternative ways of working FIRST. Then when you're settled and calm you can do research and pick an avenue that's a good fit for your personality type and natural abilties.

Experience: dominatrix for 6 years, did sugarbabying on and off for 6.5 years, and did escorting on and off for the past 2 years

I really appreciate you taking the time out to reply, thisISbliss. Thank you for sharing your advice and for letting me know about your experience because it's comforting to know that I'm not alone and others go through similar situations. I've just been keeping my options open. The dominatrix thing isn't for me ( I did it for a little while), and I don't want to go into escorting, but I have nothing against it or those who do it. I'm prepared to have money be tight but I know I'll be alright especially with your helpful tips in mind. Again, thank you so much for your input and support!
