Exclamation Short hair made my money go up!

Just wanted to share a success story for those of you who are thinking about chopping off hair because of damage. Am curious to see if this happened to anyone else who went from long to short.

Hmm if anyone remembers a while back I cut off my mid length damaged blonde hair and got a short cut to about an inch under my collarbone. The cut had soft layers. I loved it, but when my boyfriend and male friends and family saw it, I could tell it wasn't a big hit. I guess it seemed plain to them I dunno.
So I never bothered to work with short hair after that reaction and just got extensions put in (never could get the hang of clip ins) And the difference in money from mid length hair to hair nearly down to my butt was amazing. But the upkeep with extensions and roots adds up to $$$$$$ every couple or months. Money's not rolling in like that anymore and even if it was, I should really be saving that instead.

So I told my hair guy I was sick of extensions and I wanted a sexy short cut. Because of the layers from my previous cut, we had to cut my hair to an inch above my collarbone to make it look fuller. So now I have a layered A line bob. It can't even count as a LOB as it's pretty short. but omg the reaction from men in my personal life, on the street, and in the club has been astounding and a total 180 from previous reactions to my last short cut. When I asked my boyfriend what was so hot about it this time, he just looked at me in a daze and ran his hands through my hair while saying "I dunno, it's just so fucking sexy..."

And in a dead dead club last night (like 1-3 customers every 3 hrs) it seems I made all the money in the club and made out pretty well. which surprised me as the club was so bad girls didn't even have $20-30. And I'm not a strong hustler. But men's reactions were similar to my boyfriends. Touching my hair softly in dances and murmuring things like "gosh you're so sexy" "I love your hair" wtf. By the end of the night, my hair was a tousled hot mess because everyone wanted to touch it for some reason. But I came home and boyfriend asked me what I did to my hair to make it look "even hotter" lmao

Will update with how the rest of the week goes as it might have been a fluke. But it's looking pretty positive

This goes against all stripper norms. I am tall, thick, and have been told my whole life inside and outside the industry to rock long hair because of my build. Just thought I'd share to give some hope to any girls trying to hold onto their length. Rock the A line! For some strange reason, men fucking love that cut.

I feel like guy like either short hair like you have right now (not the boy cut or anything) or loooooooong hair. Nothin' in between!

    I had a similar experience.

A couple of summers ago I shaved my head and had a cute little mohawk. Older customers are my demographic. It didn't go over well. No one liked it except me. So I expanded my wig collection to be able to make some money. It was kind of awesome getting to pick matching hair for my mood. I had been wearing the wigs for almost a year, when I forgot my wig at home one day and was forced to go natural. Now, I have a pink, chin length mohawk. It didn't negatively impact my money. The club was actually in a dry spell and I was one of the few to make money that first night. I can't say for sure it is the hair, but I make a consistent amount of money for how lazy I am, and it has gone up (last week is the exception, but fuck last week).

Plus, I've been happier since I ditched my wigs. Only take 5 minutes to style. I don't have to worry about it getting all ratty during my shift.

I think that shorter hair is becoming more accepted now that A -list actresses are get 'edgy' haircuts. Which is fine by me. I was getting tired of looking at Miley, Pink, Kelly Osborne and Rhianna. New pics in the google search for style ideas! Now that these gorgeous, award winning, women are going short, we can do it and have an easier time getting money for now.

    Interesting! I need a haircut.

Would you mind posting a photo of what the cut looks like (not necessarily a pic of you but just an example of a similar cut)?

I've been wanting to go shorter, mine is bra strap length and naturally really wavy and the longer it gets the more work I have to put into it. The bottom is also pretty damaged from going from black to blonde. It's far from fried but it is dry and my ends are a bit ratty. I was thinking of a long lob myself. If it doesn't work I can always get clip ins, right? Keep us updated on if it continues to work for you!

So just wanted to update with pics. Hair has been a huge hit. I couldn't find any pics online with my cut and my shade of blonde, but I was able to find a good one that is pretty much the exact cut.

    Short-blonde-bob-haircuts.jpg

this is pretty much the length, layers, and even bangs that I have. Also my hair is more thick at the bottom. And I mentioned to my hair stylist that I didn't want the back of my bob to look "soccer mom" or crazy like Kate gosselin. So he gave me nice edgy layers in the beck and my bf says that's his favorite part

Also left my contacts at home last night so had to wear my glasses on a Friday and OMG never had so many requests for lapdances. Surprisingly a lot from young guys. Got the "hot secretary/teacher/friend's hot mom" comments a lot. Before when I would wear my glasses, I got a guys that were like "I love girls with glasses" but this is a whole nother level. I think the cut finally helped pull the look together.

Ideally I want to grow my hair out to this. I think if my should length hair had been thicker at the ends and I didn't have bangs or layers, I would've done this long bob.

Id say one can always benefit when they go with things that enhance and flatter features, from face shape, or draws attention to cheek bones or other things of that nature just as hair colour or even make up choices can play up, or down play other features or colours. Somehow I managed to pull off blood red hair and found that the more " untamed/volume " works with me OR I need to have very full and heavy bangs if I keep the hair straight and tied back...usually only good options for long faces is volume, bangs, or going with shorter styles - so it really never hurts to figure out the options to bring out the best features and own it

If most of the other dancers have long hair, then maybe your short hair makes you stand out more.

I think this cut looks really sophisticated in an old-school sexy way. I worked with a girl who had the same cut, but with black hair. I'm sure she would have been gorgeous with long hair, too, but the crop made her stand out and she was very popular. Glad you're making money!

I rocked a pixie about 3 years ago and made bank with it. It's really hit or miss. Don't be afraid to try new things!

Some girls can rock short hair. I hacked all of mine off about 15 years ago & loved it but I wasn't dancing yet. I miss it : (

It helps to have a kittenish face- short cuts accentuate a dainty cute face.

I have had both long and short hair, made more money with long but ironically got more compliments with short hair. Go figure.

This is kind of regional observation- I grew up on the West Coast & RARELY saw young women with short hair cuts. I now live in the Midwest & see super short hair cuts on girls all the time. I think it's b/c girls here are very clique-ish and if one tries a new hair style, they all get competitive/wanna try it too, and also....families are wayyyy more supportive of daughters here, so they aren't leaning hard on sex appeal to nab a husband. Just my observation.

I need to dig it out but I do have a pic from when I was a baby stripper & had a short-ish bob haircut- loved it but it wasn't good for money and took forever to grow out.

Short healthy hair is better than long damaged hair.

I made money when I cut my hair up to my shoulders with deep bangs. Old men loved it. Young men thought I had a wig on and some didn't like it. Old men are my bread and butter, so all good. I didn't care.

I always think the right length matters for each woman. A Bob that is just past or touching the shoulders will look good on some while something shorter by an inch or two will look amazing on others. I want a bob this summer, I'm just paranoid as to which length to get.

Glad that it worked for you! Nothing is as fulfilling as a new hairstyle that EVERYONE loves.

There was a girl at my last club who had very short cropped hair and would wear it in a mohawk! She was so hot! She did amazing, too.

    Glad it's working for you

That haircut looks hot! Lately at work I've been making more money without my extensions in. I think guys like a more natural look. I love how hair looks down to your ass but extensions can be expensive so I'm glad guys like it natural lol.

I think it may be some combination of four things:

    1) Short and healthy looks better than long and damaged.
    2) Your current cut possibly frames and accentuates your face better.
    3) Most guys seem to like styles that look low maintenance.
    4) You stand out among girls with long hair.

I've noticed that it's better for me to keep my hair natural-ish colors when it's long, while I can do crazier colors (pink, blue, etc) when I have a longer wedge cut. Bangs help with long hair, but are an absolute requisite with short for me.
