    Default blonde synthetic wig help

I was wondering if anyone had any good rec's on a long blonde wavy synthetic wig that didn't look fake? I ordered 2 now and both were pretty bad even though I did a lot of research and read alot of reviews. Bad as in wack silvery shade of bleached blonde or too fake part etc. I heard the Bently wig is good (?) and thats what I'll order next if I have to. I know I got to spend more money on a better wig but I have to work a few shifts before I can do that. Any suggestions on wigs would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey there, Pants!

there's lots of wig threads..also keep in mind, that all wigs need professional thinning/cutting & there's a tool you buy to take the fake shine out.
I read in Allure mag (try searching there online) that 'Woman of Color' wigs are better quality, one I remember mentioned is Wendy Williams.
Also, I hear Ebay is good.

Were you looking for more of a 27 (honey) or a 613 (platinum)? I have a good number of rec's for both.

ETA: Bentley wig has dark roots. If you were looking for style similar to that, I definitely have some recommendations for similar units.

Whirlerz, thanks so much for those links! From my own experience I can definitely attest to the fact that women of color wigs are indeed better quality for a lower price. However I'm having trouble nailing the right color for those wigs. The platinum blonde on some of those wigs leans towards like a silver shade which is very flattering on dark skin ladies but weird on my pale face!

Which brings me to Spinnerette..thanks for your reply also. I'm looking for platinum blonde 613 ideally with dark roots as I have dark eyebrows so it works out better. I do like Bently alot but I hate the that you can't change the right side part...I actually prefer to be able to part it myself or have the part on the left instead of the right (I have a scar on my right cheek that I like to have the hair hang over...its not very noticeable but I feel better about it!)

    Thanks so much!

I basically just went through my wishlist. Love blonde wigs (my hair is naturally black so this is how I switch it up). I've been wearing wigs since I was in highschool (my hair is curly and coarse so I don't like dealing with it when I grow it out). There aren't a lot of synthetic wigs that cater to the DR613 color range without a bit of 27 thrown in, unfortunately. It's only been within the last couple of years that I've seen these companies expand to something brighter than that horrible ashen red color (can't remember the color code, but I wore it once and it washed me out terribly). So some of the ones I've shared are close enough. but not quite right, I'm afraid. If you ever want to invest in a human hair unit, I can share a few of my vendors for that. Much better chance of getting exactly what it is you want (color, parting space, length, etc).

Thanks so much for these rec's! I really like a few of these units! I love the outre wigs but heard/read that they can be sort of thin or limp (probably what makes them realistic though)...the sensationnel one is outrageous and I just might have to give that one a go! I'm pretty over the top barbie at work. Thanks again!

I'd recommend searching on aliexpress for wigs. There's a lot of choices and quite a bit of customization available.

Aliexpress is a merchant site like Ebay. I'd be careful with it though because you never know if you're going to get what you pay for. They steal A TON of photos.

Definitely true about them stealing photos! I would do research on the companies/vendors before buying. Read reviews of the vendor and search on YouTube for reviews too! If you go on YouTube and search aliexpress the drop down should suggest some of the more popular vendors like queen hair etc.
I am also a big fan of x&y angel wigs on Amazon. Most of them have blunt bangs but they are super cute. Fridaynighthair has great wigs too, but I'm not sure that they carry many or any blonde ones. Definitely worth checking out though, as the unit I got was great and they have a bit of a cult following.
    Freetress has great wigs too.
    Good luck!!

I found the perfect one for you if you are looking for dark roots: outre synthetic lace front Lydia. Has great reviews and that brand is pretty well liked. On Amazon.

Thanks for all the responses! I actually am thinking about Lydia, Zenn (outre) or Nia (empress) although I think Nia would make me look like a drag queen! ( but but I LOVE huge hair! )
ps I love those x & y angel wigs but the blunt bangs make my long nose look huge!! Wish I could rock that style! That's why big hair works for me ...BIG hair = smaller lookin' nose. All about the optical illusions!

I would actually wear long dark wigs, I think they'd look way better on me but instead of looking exotic I look like a witch!

I did so much research on wigs over the past years, I pretty much can name every style/form of wig there may be on market. Skin top, full lace, silk top, single knots, couldn't believe there were so many styles! BHZ Wigz use to sell really outstanding quality wigs for cheap, but they started becoming very lazy and stopped stocking the wigs they made a success on. You could also go to Sally Secrets and look at some of the synthetic lace front wigs they have. I suggest starting off with hard lace if you are not familiar or have never worn a wig before, just to get the feel for what is more comfortable against your skin. I prefer swiss lace/soft french, which prevents the rough scratching and discomfort, but not everyone likes it..

    Styling

    ---------

You can easily style a synthetic wig by either straightening and then quickly curling with a two finger heat protection glove while twirling the fiber around your finger to form the curl, you can also use a toothbrush. Since it is not human/remy and synthetic, it tends to have a different styling method. NEVER leave a heating device on the fiber to sit, it won't curl so much than slowly sizzle/burn and reduce the life of your unit depending on the temperature you keep the plates. Most wigs that use premium Kanekalon Fiber withstand up to 375 to 450 degrees. NEVER brush the wig from the top first, start from the bottom and work your way slowly up stopping at ear length. (Otherwise you risk pulling out the knots and can end up with bald wefts, which is not flattering.) One of the second best wigs I have found that melts into your skin and is hard to detect is Ozone Cara, which is sold in blonde and in curly, wave styles. Moonstone is very popular! - information provided below~

Remember that all wigs shed, but I own Cara and she is beautiful and so soft it feels like quality human hair. Moonstone is a mix of every shade of brown, ash, blonde and platinum, it helps make the wig look more natural.

    Platinum Wigs

    ----------------

(Just a heads up, I had a terrible experience purchasing through Platinum wigs and wanted to share what I went through to save any hassle! Nothing wrong with their units, but they sent me the wrong color and after they emailed "Sure, we will just refund you when we receive the wig in honor of the 7 day return policy and exchange." It had been sitting in its package untouched after noticing the color was an orange/nasty brown. They refused to honor their emailed agreement in attempts of scamming me out of a $50 dollar order and apparently I wasn't their first attempt. After I received a refund showing proof of the email, they blocked my account from future purchases. I believe I heard from someone who was an associate of the owner who committed multiple accounts of fraud as well through another business known as Vixen (she has modeled some of their wigs through her channel with 98,862 subscribers and she dropped them because of their bad business practices, as well for creating drama while she had her own hardships, loving family to care for..but just because my experience went sour, doesn't mean it will for you!)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Aliexpress

    ------------

Even though you can find some good deals once in a while, I find almost all of the sellers are from China and it can be a huge pain to deal with orders from another Country. (Years of purchasing hair wefts, which you can find good quality with some Chinese sellers..)

I suggest looking into sites of people who make these wigs as a hobby and I have found some stunning wigs sold on Etsy. The only issue is it can cost anywhere from $90 to $500 depending on what quality you are looking for.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Washing Tips

    --------------

Always recommend washing the wig before wearing as chemicals are sprayed to preserve the style, freshness and to seal lace knots, which can make my neck and ears breakout into red rashes. I am highly allergic to cotton/lace fabrics and can be difficult wearing cotton clothing, so this method I have to do with each unit that arrives. Aside from that, it makes your wig manageable, detangled and soft.

    1. Boil a pot of water.

    2. Add boiled water to a decent size bowl for washing your wig.

    3. Add two half cups of fabric softener to the water of whatever fragrance you choose, set aside to cool.

    4. Pre-shampoo the hair using a silicone/static free soap, or if you wish can use Suave for a quick wash.

    5. After rinsing all the shampoo from the wig your conditioning treatment is going to be allowing your wig to soak for 15 minutes after the water slightly becomes warm.

    6. Remove wig from bowl, squeeze from the top lace down to the bottom fibers. Towel press, set on wig stand to dry.

You can also purchase this stuff I can't live without now called Brazilian Tech Keratin Treatment. Its very similar to a wig control, it makes it so soft and conceals the fabric softener smell into a very interesting and attractive scent!

(Been a wig lover for over 10 years! <3)

Wow, took me a minute to go through some of those links but I'm sure glad I did! Seeing some of those brunette wigs on friday night hair is making me want to go that way. Thanks so much! I'm bookmarking most of these!

Also greatly appreciate the general wig information, I'm sure others do too. I copied this info so I can look at it later!

@BambiCutieSlimePrincess that was so useful! I've been wearing wigs for about 3 years and never heard of that washing method. Usually I'd shampoo it, rinse it well, and let it air dry over a stand. To take the shine out i'd just brush baby powder through it.

do you have any recommendations for wigs with bangs?

So much useful info on here Thankyou !! I'm looking at purchasing my first wig to disguise myself a little while working. I have blonde hair normally so I'm thinking maybe a honey brown or caramel, what is the most basic easy type to start with - I'm a bit confused ( I think I've over researched lol) Im reading about adhesives, clips & lace caps to attach it to your head?
Does your real hair go in a low bun?
I have remy hair extensions currently but with a wig that's only for use in a dark club once/twice a week would synthetic or real hair be best?
