Crossfingers Whats the LEAST you've worked?

    Hey girls.

I had to stop dancing for a little while due to some family responsibilities that are eating up all of my time I used to have for the club. The only problem, is that I really REALLY miss dancing (And the extra $$$ of course. since my "day job" pays SHIT). So my ultimate goal, would be to work just one or two shifts per month. Is this anything that anyone has heard of before? Would any club even be open to that idea? (I mean, realistically, they get my house fee's and tip outs even if I made next to nothing so what's the disadvantage of having another girl? But you know how people can be about "You must work 3 nights a week" or whatever.)

So does anyone have experience working less? How could I even begin to ask a manager to let me do it without sounding lazy and like I didn't want to be there (Because I DO!)?

    Thanks!

(Also, I did a search for this and couldn't really find anything, so if I missed some threads, I apologize for starting one and feel free to point me in the right direction).

I do this. I go to the club so infrequently these days that the managers always forget my name. "So, uh......what was your name again? Where have you been?"

This really depends on the club though. One dive I tried out said they normally like their girls to do a schedule, but they let me come and go. Mostly because of how I looked, and the fact I told them I had a regular job (where I made more money anyway).

Another club, I talked to management on the phone and told them I have a regular job. "Well we don't want girls to just do Fridays and Saturdays," which wasn't what I wanted to do, but I knew it wouldn't work out with them so I didn't give them a chance.

And a couple of other clubs truly operate on a come and go basis as clubs should with independent contractors. Those are the only ones I work in.

Most clubs I've worked at have some very part time dancers. Even the ones with mandatory scheduling, will have a couple of girls that just pop in every now and again on the slower nights (Sunday-Thurs).

Yeah l like to pop in when I break from the day job and the family responsibilities which is only a few times a month. Thank goodness for being able to chose the schedule.

I currently work a double shift (12 hrs) per week, so 4 days per month. I am hoping to work only 6 hours per week or even once bi-weekly starting next Fall...

A lot of clubs, even if they say they want you on a schedule, can be flexible if you insist upon it. They'll say they want girls to do a certain number of shifts a week, but if you make a compelling case for that just not working with your schedule and are firm about it, they'll generally work with you. They just don't want to give everyone the impression that they can "get away" with it. Pick a couple days you know you could work and go in with that schedule in mind to explain to them. If you don't flake on your few shifts a month, they'll eventually trust you more and it won't even be a big deal for you to come and go anymore.

I've been working around 2 shifts per month for the past year at club that is supposed to have scheduled minimum shifts. Actually, as of right now, I haven't worked since January. No one cares! Just do it.

Uhhg, girl I've been barely working at all the past two months between all this snow, my car breaking and having a chronic illness (and now I have a cold, FML). At one point when I knew I'd be sick for a while, I scheduled one shift per week and just didn't show up to a few of them. Now I call the manager constantly and have to cancel work. But he doesn't care. I'm sure if I just told him, "I can only work one shift this month" he still wouldn't care.

For the past three months I've been working once a month. My favorite club requires 3 shifts a week but they let me slide (thank goodness). My "home" club only requires that I work once a month but I haven't worked there since January.

I've done this. One Saturday a month was enough for me to pay all my bills. I never had to ask a manager for permission though.
