I'd cut back on shampooing too except like you I have oily hair I have to wash it every two days. Usually on the 2nd day it already looks bad from the oil.. I hate it. Can't do 3 days. From time to time if the wash would fall on a Saturday I've waited cuz I figured I'll be home on Sunday but I still go out to walk the dog daily and hate looking like a homeless person with oily hair so I do wash every two days. I haven't found a dry shampoo that would work either. I also color my hair cuz I have to. I've had greys from when I was in my early 20's so not really a choice as I have a lot more now.

I'm not currently dyeing, but I only "wash" my hair once a week with a homemade aloe and coconut milk cleansing conditioner. After years of more or less extreme no-pooing, my hair and scalp will no longer tolerate being cleaned more frequently or with anything that isn't non-surfactant and pH balanced. The first few inches of my roots will become extremely oily and the rest of my bra band length hair looks fried if I do! Otherwise, I just massage my scalp while rinsing with plain water.
If I heat style, I use natural oils as heat protection and keep the heat of the iron below the oils' smoke points.

I wash with literally any shampoo I have on hand and condition with probably a half cup of Aussie Moist (I have so much hair and it's very thirsty) every 2-4 days, depends on how hot I want to look and if I've been sweating in the gym. I rub baby powder into my roots every non-washing night. Once a week or so I do a coconut oil mask for around 30 minutes.
I have fine, thick, long hair, so it gets weighed down easily and shows excess oil fast. I find it looks fullest and sexiest when I wash it in the morning, baby powder at night, and then wake up the next morning with my hair just perfectly dirty enough.

I only wash my hair once a week and condition every other day. I use Lekair cholesterol that you can get at Wal Mart for $1.98. Pretty much anything in the ethnic hair care aisle seems to love my hair. This time I'm using shitty shampoo from Dollar Tree. Hair seems fine.![]()

I was with organic clarifying shampoo 2-3 times a week and use coconut oil or neutrogena conditioner.
Then I either apply water based gel and air dry for natural curly look or apply heat protector and straighten with an Instyler

I wash and conditions every day because my hair is fine and I work out and it gets pretty oily, fast. I used to obsess with using only organic and sulfate free shampoo and conditioner but I figures out that stuff just does not work on my hair. At all. Leaves it flat and lifeless. So now I use Bumble and Bumble shampoo and conditioner and a bit of mousse for volume. Once a week I use their Sunday shampoo which gets rid of any build up, followed by deep conditioning mask. Also, I use a wide tooth comb to deranged my hair when it's wet, a boar bristle brushes when dry and use a twisty turbie do dry my hair.

well, my hair's beyond dry..still looking 4 something, I've tried the Shu Umera mask, right now I have on the Kerastace Oleo mask..I swear, K's changed their formula..I also tried the Fekkai mask that was lauded in Allure..
Nothing's helping..I have used a coconut oil mask too.
Anyway, I don't wash a lot, my stays super dry, I do use Briogeo gentle wash frm Sephora avacado/quinoa non sulfate. I also like Retress, it's an herbal shampoo/cond. for hair loss
& I love the African Pride brand braid spray, can use anytime, it has lots of herbs

once a week i will do an overnight coconut oil/avocado oil mask, and then wash with a good organic shampoo and conditioner. in between those washes i'll just wash with a cleansing conditioner. probably every 3 days.
i'll dry my hair with an old Tshirt because terry cloth is very rough on your hair
then i'll put a "curl smoothie" in my damp hair and scrunch every 10 minutes til its dry.
i also make sure i never brush my hair..that's murder on curly hair. i'll take biotin and MSM vitamins every night and eat a healthy diet.
i used to bleach the shit out of my hair and flat iron it daily, but just doing the routine i mentioned my curl pattern returned in a month and my hair feels awesome

My hair is a long, curly, extremely dry hot mess so I stay far away from shampoo and condition it only once a week. I rub coconut oil into my ends daily, and massage it into my scalp about 3 times a week.
I dye my hair with Lush's henna caca Brun.
I wash my hair with en egg yolk and rinse with water and vinegar/ apple cider vinegar.
If i use oils than i use burdock oil, castor, olive even emu oil. And if i use oil i use giovanni shampoo.
I burned my hair way too much with dyes ugh, for a year now i try to revive them.

I used to wash my hair as often as you OP until I had my BA and couldn't wash my hair for a week. After that I've been washing it once a week or so. All it took was that one week of no washing! It was pretty nasty and oily but now it goes a long time without getting greasy. So if you do want to wash it less just pick a week to be a grease-ball. It'll help your hair in the long run.

Ok, so I got this frm W.mart Schwarzkopf brand, Omega Repair/Moisture 11-in-1 hair beautifier for damaged hair (why are these titles a mile long?)
Anyway it's light creamy leave in lotion in a pump bottle. LOVE it!

Oh I love Schwarzkopf products! Used them in Germany, didn't know we had them here in the States!!I have to make a quick stop at Wal mart soon. Thanks for the tip!

As a black natural, I wash my hair once a week with conditioner, AKA co-washing. If and when I get too much buildup I will use a non sulfate shampoo. I then twist my curly hair adding some natural coconut or Jamaican Black Castor Oil (or any natural oil for that matter, olive, Moroccan, etc) and water.
I then throw my twists into two french braids. It keeps my hair moisturized, little to no upkeep aside from wash days, and it's been growing like a weed. I did straighten half of it the other day and it's officially at the bottom of my bra strap. Unfortunately I haven't been paying too much attention to my ends as they need to be clipped. No split ends, just a few inches of dye from a year and a half ago.

I cowash too, but also I wet the length of my hair, apply conditioner, & rinse it off. No shampooing or anything near my scalp. Maybe a water rinse, or spray w/Braid Spray.

Today I just bought Sun Bum brand, 3-in-1 leave in formula. Has uv protection, detangles & conditions w/coconut oil, banana pulp/peel/oil quinona & sunflower oil.

I have a bleached platinum white bob.
My natural dark hair has a lot of red undertones and tends to oxidize quickly. I was always having a problem with my blonde hair turning this sort of dingy, muddy blonde. Lifting my hair to white from light blonde helped fix that problem but I still do a couple of things to maintain the brightness.
Wash hair once a week. Twice if the cheesehead gets bad but that's rare because my hair is bleached.
One week I wash with Paul mitchell platinum shampoo
The next ill wash with a silicone free and sulfate free shampoo
If it gets dingy in between, i'll put some le roux white minx temporary hair rinse
Also I use a filtered showerhead from sephora to help with hard water buildup
So I alternate shampoos every wash. Also I stopped using conditioner which I know is crazy for bleached hair, but instead I've been putting jojoba oil in it after it air dries. It makes my hair look and feel so sleek and smooth without looking weighed down and oily like before when I used coconut oil. It makes my hair look like I came out of a professional salon.
And that's it. I love having short hair. So low maintenance.
Also towards the end of the week when the hair is getting a little oily, ill use the boar bristle brush to distribute oil evenly.
to be honest, it's hard to keep platinum hair from looking over toned and gray and if you have natural dark hair, it oxidizes super fast so the less you wash the better. I think this is why Kim Kardashian had a hard time maintaining it cuz her hair is always being messed with. Honestly the more u leave it alone the better and longer it lasts.

I only shampoo my hair once or twice a month. My hair is usually braided in corn rows and I wear wigs or clip in pieces and what not. But I moisturize it daily. If I use lots of things on my hair then I will Poo maybe once a week while my hair is still in braids. I sometimes cowash my hair once a week as well. All my shampoos and conditioners though for my hair are natural products. I don't use anything with sulfates or silicones, etc. And it makes s huge difference. Because I have true curly sue, rings of curl curly hair, my hair is very fine and delicate. So my hair can get dry, as do all curly hair. So I try to keep it well moisturized which is why I use products without the chemicals. My hair grew within a year and a half close to 13-14 inches. About another 3 years my curls will hang past my bra strap and I'll completely wear my beautiful 3B curly hair.

Just a heads up on dyeing: don't use permanent box dyes! Most professionals don't use permanent dye at all, which is why getting it done in the salon is less damaging and doesn't leave ugly banding as your roots grow out. If you want to dye at home, get a semi/demi-perm colorant and developer at a beauty supply shop. It's more expensive than box dye, but cheaper and more convenient than the salon.
When I go back to dyeing, I'll personally be washing my hair with undiluted Dr Bronner's Baby Mild to open my cuticle and dyeing with Splat, probably Cherry Pop, then follow it up with a pH balanced deep conditioning treatment. I'll have to rework my homemade shampoo recipe to include natural colorants like cranberry juice and hibiscus (and hopefully be able to add some bubbles back into my life; I miss the bubbles) before doing any of that, though.
