    Dizzy Day shift

I've just started dancing at an upscale club in Houston (first time ever) and I wonder.... What shift is the best to work as far as $$$ goes? I'm sure it varies and it's different everywhere , but for the most part . Those who have worked both, which has the highest earning potential ? I applied for day shift as I have 2 babies and would rather be home with them at night.. . I have gone in on Friday and Saturday night and realized those were my only 2 really good days. I find that day time is either a hit or miss. It's like gambling. Sometimes there are only like 3 men in the entire club and like 8 girls. I've literally left with 10$ once. That's less than the 30$ house fee . Then I had a day I made 900$ in 4 hours. I just started 3 weeks ago if that means anything . No regulars . I feel so discouraged during the day I want to switch but everyone I've talked to about it is telling me that day shift is better. Opinions ladies !

That's dancing for you: one day you bank, and the other day you may be leaving owing the club. Making $900 bucks on a dayshift is awesome! If dayshift is the shift that makes you feel comfortable, don't even bother with the change. You're in Houston, so I imagine that during the day you get wealthy retirees, investors in their lunch breaks, and old men who can't drive at night. Milk those men!!!

When you have good days (like that day when you made $900), save that money because later during the year you will be filling taxes (as a self employed person), and because you never know when you may make money again.

Exactly what Jay said. Stripping itself is like gambling sometimes and you never know how much or how little you're going to make. I had a full week recently where I was making under $100 every nightshift and then the next week I came back and banked. That's why you have to save your money. You just started so give it some time to gain regulars. Work consistently so customers know when you'll be working. Regulars can help make your income a little more steady.

At my club the day shift dancers all either have regulars or are not less interested in making loads of money and more interested in having their evenings free for their families. The latter mostly rely on the shift pay ($50 bucks a day) and then do a couple of dances ($20 bucks each) but work 5 days a week from 12-6pm.

Different things work different people I guess.

You're right that it varies by where you are, but it also varies by the dancer. I thrive in the day shift because I have an easier time appealing to the businessman/middle-aged clientele and translating that into big sales. I'm also good at cultivating regulars, which is very important in my club for the day shift -- this also got easier the longer I danced and the more I learned how to hustle, so bear that in mind since you're still new. During the night shift, I'm usually lap hopping and selling a handful of dances to the younger crowd (unless I happen to come across a lone, 30s-50s man) because I have a harder time appealing to that clientele enough to turn it into big sales.

With other dancers, it's the opposite, and they rock the night shift but can't do the day crowd. Further, although I'm naturally a night owl, I'm more productive during the day, so the day shift is better for my mental wellbeing and bottom-line.

Given that you have kids, day shift might better for you in the long run. Lots of moms work on the day shift and it's great for them - it's easier to get childcare and since they're working regularly and consistently because of that, they cultivate regulars who keep their income steady.

Dancers who work more sporadically will usually find that the busier shifts are better for them because you don't have to put much pre-effort into making money -- if you don't have any regulars, you're at the mercy of whoever walks into the club, and the numbers are in your favour on a weekend night.

Of course, day shift can be a total bust in some clubs, so it's all just speculation on our end! My recommendation, if possible, would be to pick one weekday and work it consistently for a few weeks, and then work some nights as well. That gives you some night time with your kids and allows you to see if the day shift has the potential to be lucrative if you put the time and effort into it.
