    Default Looking too exotic?

    Hi,

Long time lurker here. Have learned so much from you ladies and I'm very grateful for all of your candid posts about the industry and life in general.

    Anyways.

Wanted to get your opinion about an odd matter. What would be considered too exotic? I'm naturally quite "exotic" looking due to my heritage...long long dark hair, pale blue eyes, pale olive skin, upturned eyes. But for years I have been dancing repressing my umm...gypsiness (?) so to speak...as in hennaed hands and feet, big hoop earrings and definitely not wearing my ornate septum ring which I have worn since very young. I have been covering the henna up with boots (always!) and lace hand gloves but I'm quite sick of this! Do you ladies think I can incorporate such things into my look or would it be way over the top? The henna is always very feminine and good quality and my nose piercing is ornate and gold. I am making money right now going for a more traditional stripper look but I would be happier and feel sexier with my bangles etc! I'm not working at gown clubs or dives, somewhere in between with wide range of clientele.

    Any thoughts?

No such thing as too exotic! The more exotic the better in my opinion. I think customers love when a dancer stands out and I'm sure they will think you are really sexy. Don't conform to the stereotypical stripper look if you naturally look another way. I'm personally jealous because I wish I were more exotic! Well exotic is a relative term anyway because to foreigners I am exotic (asians love white blondes) but to other Americans I'm not. Own what you have going because it sounds hot and could make you even more money than if you were to stick to the stereotypical stripper look.

Depends. If you have a banging bod and cute face then you can get away with anything. It also depends on the type of club. Upscale might nix the septum piercing. But again if you are hot they might overlook it. It's tough to say.
If you're making money now, why hurt your money for the sake of self expression? This is a job. If it's not broke don't fix it. If self expression is so important join a burlesque troupe and incorporate your persona into your routine.
I have a mohawk that I'd love to wear spiked up all the time but I don't. Why? Because I know what appeals to most people is the most profitable.

Try your actual look, if it doesn't work for you then go back to the look that makes you money IMO.

Btw, the hoop earring comment (I wear them too ) reminded me of the bling on "My Gypsy Sisters" .
