Default Austin: Yellow Rose vs. Palazio

I live in Vegas and am well aware that austin isn't exactly the ideal destination for a work trip but the guy I'm seeing lives there and I want to work out there. During sxsw we checked out the yellow rose and it seemed more promising than I expected.. Very busy but maybe just because of sxsw? He told me that palazio is nicer.. Does anyone have any info on either of these? Is day shift any good at either place? Any input is appreciated. I searched but the most recent thread I saw was from 2008.

Austin has great money making potential ONLY when big events are coming into town (SXSW, Rodeos, X-Games, car races, ACL, Fun Fun Fest, etc.). The rest of the year is ok, but consistent due to the recent tech boom. One of the downsides of Austin is that many clubs have $10 dances during the day, and are two way contact.

Let me answer your club questions:

Yellow Rose is kinda sketchy, albeit it does not look trashy. The owner gave me a very bad vibe when I first met him when I first went down to Austin to check the clubs right after I recovered from giving birth in late 2012. I can imagine that it did looked super busy that time because of SXSW, like I mentioned above. It attracts a variety of patrons.

Palazio is much, more nicer. Like the name says, it does looks like a palace. Is one of those corporate type clubs.

Other possible alternatives: Perfect 10 (only club that allows smoking inside the club), Down in Texas Saloon (newer club that had a great head start but it kinda dwindled), Rick's (formerly known as Joy's), Sugar's, Landing Strip (older club that kinda looks ok), XTC (nude/BYOB, that mainly caters to Latin-Americans, but rather safe with good money making potential), and Exposé (club near downtown in SoCo).

Not recommended: Chicas Bonitas (I worked here for a bit, but after a very unsafe incident I no longer recommend this club). Hot Bodies (typical nude BYOB low life dive). Babes Showgirls (low scale, urban nude BYOB).

My friends couldn't get hired at some of the Austin clubs in 2010-11 b/c one was "too fat" & the other was too tall. So yeah some of the managers have certain views on what girls "should" be there, and are willing to turn down other girls.

Apparently there is big money in selling VIPS + champagne to high roller customers. That's all I was told by my friends...

It happened to me as well in 2013...at the Landing Strip out of all places!!!!!!

That place had some seriously FAT (read, with actual guts hanging from their mid sections) dancers, and some other dancers were in dire need of face lifts (their faces looked older than my 70 year old grandma's face). The shift manager said that it wouldn't be fair to them that some newbie would come and steal their customers just because they were fatter than me, despite I carried that extra weight very well (no gut whatsoever, no visible stretch marks, and defined hourglass shape). Perhaps my height hurt me, like you said (my heels make me 6'6").

The worst part? When the shift manager told me I couldn't work there, there were some customers complaining to him that it was not fair that he was not hiring me 'cause they were ready to spend hundreds that night on me. So, in my case it was completely on the manager's part 'cause there were customers willing to pay for MY time.

It depends on the club, but I know that XTC is very forgiving due to their target audience. If you don't mind two way contact and can get a Spanish crash course, XTC would suit you. Most XTC clubs in Texas are the same way.

Well, I did a few management shifts (temp position during X-games) at the one in Austin. When there are events in Austin, money is there in mass quantities (especially 'cause is open until 5am on weekends). I can only imagined all the money I lost because I opted to wear a tailored suit instead of my birthday suit...

The one in Austin is slightly less trashy.

I've worked in Austin a bit while visiting friends, mostly at XTC and a couple nights at yellow rose. I didn't care for yellow rose at all, unfortunately it was a while ago and I don't remember many details except 6-song stage rotations and all the (salaried) managers having their hands out at the end of the night for tips. XTC wasn't bad though. A little Spanish goes a long way there with making the customers like you, and I know my dancer friends down there had some high spending (white) regulars. If you can hang til 5 am they do get a rush after the regular bars close.

Come a few weeks prior to an event (like X-Games), if you can. The rest of the year is not that awesome.

I worked at p10 about 2 years ago.. it was nice.. couldn't get hired at palazios the only club I have been turned away from.. they didn't let me audition or really even come to look at me.. I have always heard good things about yellow rose.. I have worked at many clubs across US, and to be completely honest I have made the same ball park figures in almost every club..!

The owner of Yellow Rose takes pictures of passed out strippers and drunk customers and puts them on his website. Examples: http://www.dkaustin.com/IMG_3579.JPG http://www.dkaustin.com/IMG_3581.JPG http://www.dkaustin.com/images/pissgals.gif

Wow, I am seriously re-thinking yellow rose after reading this. Thanks for all the responses. Looks like I'll be hitting palazio first, fingers crossed they hire me. I called and they said come in any time after 9.
Just to be clear also.. I don't need a license of any kind to dance in austin right?! I asked some girls at yellow rose and they said you don't.

No, no licenses nor finger prints. Green card or higher for all clubs in Austin.

I'm horrified by these pics, but also relief at the same time. That owner dude extended me job offers at the YR in several occasions and I kept rejecting them.

I think it was because, IIRC, they used to only hire on certain days of the week and/or time of the day only.

Don King has never owned a strip club in Austin. He's only a manager. I think that YR threw him out and he's at Down in Texas, if I'm not mistaken. Deplorable behavior, for sure but he is a strip club manager, so they become jaded after years of being in the industry.

That's because if you have been in this business for a while in Austin, you would know about DK's reputation. DK has made a name for himself for doing crappy things like that. He also grandstands and makes stuff up to make himself sound more important than he really is. He claims to know certain celebrities too. Gullible people eat that mess up.

If he owns yr, then why is he a manager at DIT?

Girl, I don't believe most of what men and women tell me at stripclubs.

Just an update, I went to the YR as a customer a week and a half ago on a Friday night. I was NOT impressed. It was slow, the girls were all busy getting drunk with each other in the VIP. I was surprised that most of the customers seemed higher end than the club and (most of the) quality of girls warranted. I guess if somebody were curious and in the area, they could come in and see if someone with a hustle and a desire to actually make money could clean house.

But not with big boobs or asses. I know that Expose like them flat (my neighbor used to manage that club); seen about three girls my size over there, though. I've been there as a customer (because their food is amazing) several times.

I tried Palazio today. Since ACL is coming, they are crowded with dancers. I came very early to apply, but I was turned down as well. I even asked if it was because of how I looked and they told me that that was not the reason (I know the club has at least one dancer much bigger than me), that they are actually full of dancers at that time. They did told me to come back early on a slower day (manager made an emphasis on early 'cause they get busy early on).

No wonder that club is nowhere what it used to be when it first opened.

Update: been working at palazio for several months now on and off, I go out about once a month and everyone is great there and money is pretty consistant for me. Management is nice. Customers can get a bit handsy at times and the bouncers dont really do anything but they are nice and dont expect any tips. House fee and tip out is actually insanely cheap compared to what im used to and for the quality of the place and clientele. I checked out perfect 10 last night with my bf as a customer and was very impressed- seems like it could be just as good or possibly better.. does anyone have any recent info on the place?
