If you don't even have a Twitter, that would be a much better starting place, and I say that as someone who really dislikes Twitter. Google LOVES Twitter, and you can place very high in search results with minimal effort. My Twitter became the #1 result for my cam name when I had less than 300 followers and was only tweeting a few times per week. I think that Twitter is by far the best and easiest way for customers to find you and find info about you.
If you build a website - even if you do an amazing job with it - it will probably spend a while buried under dozens or hundreds of other google results. More importantly, the vast, vast majority of your initial website traffic would probably come from... Twitter! If you don't use Twitter, it's going to take much longer to get traffic to your website, and without traffic, it will take a lot longer to climb up in google rankings, and no one will be able to find your site.
The point being, if you want to have a place where guys can find you off site, Twitter is one of the very best tools you can use. I would get that set up and running before putting effort into a website.
