Default Dancing with a PICC Line?

Hi everyone. I posted earlier about myself. I got into dancing because I have a chronic illness chronic lyme disease I had undiagnosed for around 10 years and I needed easy money for treatment. Unfortunately it messed up my digestion, so oral stuff never worked. So I found a place that did IV treatments. It's expensive around 10k for the full IV protocol, but it has a great success rate for lyme disease and they let me do payments and I desperately need to get better. So my first appointment a week ago I put down a 3k down payment. I had my first IV they struggled to get a vein and bruised both my arms in many places, took them over an hour to get me. The doctor there suggested a PICC line they leave in in my arm, but thinking about how that would look as a stripper I turned him down. So I go back today and I'm there over 3 hours, every vein they try to draw from collapses and bruises. I drink over 5 bottles of water, they still can't get it. They finally get a little vein in my hand, but the doctor says there's no way he can continue to draw from my hand and go through this every time. He told me today if I want to continue treatment there I have no choice but to get the PICC line put in my arm.

I said ok. Because I desperately want to get better. I really wanted to ask him if it was ok to still pole dance with one in, but I was too scared to admit I was a stripper. Has anyone ever danced with one in? Is there a way to cover it up? And is it ok to still pole dance and do pole tricks? I'm scared it will end up ripping out. He told me I could go about my normal life and it would not get ripped out, but he doesn't know my normal life includes stripping. If anyone has any info on this it would be appreciated!

PICC lines. There are arm sleeves to cover PICC lines, like these ones:

    Or things like these:

There are also gowns like this one:

But then you'll have to take it off for dances, so you'll need to keep the ports hidden again. I kind of like the sleeves and the long gloves, but be prepared for nosy customers to ask too many questions. The long gloves look more discreet and you can just say you're wearing them because you're cold in the club, like legwarmers.

I highly don't suggest putting strain on the affected arm or moving the arm around a lot. There's going to be a lot of bruising after they put it in and it's a delicate thing.

Thanks for the info. I am gonna get a sleeve or bandana or something to cover it, but I'm worried it will weird customers out and mess with my money, but I guess I'll deal with it. Are pole tricks ok or no? I don't know what I'm gonna do on stage. I'm not a great dancer, but my routine usually includes the basic spins using both my hands and doing headstands and handstands up against the pole. I also go upside down sometimes. Should I stop all this? I'm not sure how to fill my time on stage without doing those things. I feel like walking around the pole in a circle and the little bit of floor work I know won't fill up more than a minute.

Any kind of weight bearing on the arm is not good. No contact sports and no weight bearing on the arm. The hand stands are not good for it. I'm not sure about the spins, but it's still an upper body movement and I would stay away from those especially after they first insert it.

I know they say you can do your regular activities, which you can, but I'm surprised they didn't mention weight bearing. You're not supposed to lift more than a few pounds with the arm.

The main thing is keeping it clean and patent. If you're going to sweat a lot from dancing, just have to do the dressing change like they say and flush it however many times a day is needed.

I totally understand you not wanting to tell him that you're a dancer. When you go back for your next treatment or whenever you see the doctor ask about weight bearing exercises, like can you still go to the gym and lift weights, or use the climbing rope at "the gym".

I honestly wouldn't risk it. All it takes is for that thing to get snagged once, or a customer to grab you by the arm or anything. Have you considered waitressing while you recover?

I'd cover it with a medical dressing before putting on any gloves. That way, customers who really go there have something sturdier to contend with than a flimsy glove. I hate to get all nurse on you, but strip clubs are filthy places. It would behoove you to take excellent care of your site, load up on vitamins, water, and protein, and wash your hands and use hand sanitizer every chance you get. PS-unless you can do pole tricks with no pressure on the affected arm, I wouldn't risk it. IME, it's not a make you or break you thing.

Pretty much my thoughts. Some girl saw me washing my hands a lot after going up and touching the poles and she asked me "HOW CAN YOU BE A STRIPPER?" I guess strippers are supposed to be filthy creatures! Not to mention some days if you get close to the pole it smells like stale vagina.
