Travel Matrix Modeling-- has anyone heard of it?

    Hey guys!

Today, while I was camming, a user with the name MatrixModels took me into private and told me that he represented a modeling agency and that they wanted to fly me to LA to do professional photoshoots and bookings. He said I'd make around $1000 per shoot, and if I came out there for 2 weeks, I'd make around $9000. Since it was paid chat, I asked a lot of questions and checked out their website. http://matrixmodels.com/ is the site that comes up.

I'm getting a lot of "too good to be true" vibes from this site, but their license does check out as a legitimate modeling agency. John, the guy I ended up emailing after talking to him on Streamate, keeps saying that I can bring whoever I want with me to feel safe and that he'll fly both of us up there, no cost to us.

Has anyone heard of this agency before? My gut is telling me that it's some sort of crazy scam, but I'd really love to make $9000 haha.

Also when I do a reverse image search of the girls he has on his website, none of the pictures are found anywhere but there. That makes me think he didn't just steal pictures from girls to make his site look legitimate.

A few things to check out would be:
    - How long have they been in business?
    - Can you get references from other models?
    - Are they licensed as a modeling agency in CA? (CA is one of the few states that requires this)
    - Do any of the players involved have a linkedin or other professional and long-term profile somewhere?
    - How old is the website?

    ------------------

A few white flags and red flags:

    Good:
    - California license is up front and current.
    - Model listing appears reasonably current on the pages.
    - Domain registry is a real person, with a 1999 registry - stories match.
    - Found the twitter, seems legit.
    - Basic review on ModelMayhem. Count on doing real porn if you work with them.

    Bad:
    - Owner, John Steven, doesn't exist in professional circles that we can find
    - Company is a DBA
    - Shows magazines and such, but no specific issues or portfolio
    - Website is incomplete, Twitter link with no twitter

Our own call is 50/50. If he's letting you bring a friend and pre-paying your way for everything, and lets you be up front with what you're comfortable with then it should be ok. Looks like its a bit of bait and switch unless you go in expecting to do some hard core.

My guess just from my husband being in the pay site business previously, is that they will shoot your photos and pay you for them, then potentially make way more than 9k from a pay site they make of you. No one really pays 1k per photo shoot unless they intend to make way more off the photos, even still 1k is pushing it.

The only model on there I recognize is Bree Daniels. She's a porn star, she's also on SM. Maybe you could contact her and see what she says about them? If you google her, her Twitter is the first thing that comes up. I would start there.

I would contact several of the models listed on there, see what there thoughts are. I noticed most have their emails on their twitter.

Anytime I get a modeling offer, I think of this.

Thing is, if you want to do porn, you don't need an agent. Adult companies usually have a hiring page on their site, and you can do your own bookings. Porn agents are a hangover from the time when all the info you need to find work wasn't already on the internet.

Gotta agree with SarahTime on this one. 'Following the money' usually tells the true story. For this sort of a 'paycheck', it's guaranteed that you'll be required to sign over all future rights to the pics they shoot. This in turn could lead to a situation where their content of you will wind up directly competing with your content of yourself.

A distinct possibility. Been there ... and wound up buying my own ticket home ! In SoCal, $1k a day is standard amateur porn actor pay scale.

Sounds super fishy... $9000 in 2 weeks either sounds like too good to be true, or there is a big catch. And the fact that their social links, past credentials etc are not up front makes it even fishier. I would do like SarahTime mentioned and start off contacting a couple of models and see what their reviews are. Also, if it does turn out this guy is legit, which I doubt, I would want a list of the sites he wants to shoot for to check out the style of work you would be doing in advance.

Most of the girls already touched on what I was thinking... they seem to be a porn agency and will likely try to push you to do porn. They also have a word press site that is unfinished which is a bit odd...

It will be $9000 MINUS your pics, model house fees, driver fees, HIV & std test so you might go home owing them money. But hey they have a friend you can fuck for $300.

That site is clearly a porn agency. All the girls have listed what they will do, g/g, b/g, anal. I think you will be doing some pictures and be expected to bang on cam for that 9000. If he told you it was just pictures he is lying.

No, I was told it would be some porno stuff and that's okay with me.

Thank you girls for all your input, this has given me a lot to think about.

You won't make $9000 in two weeks. You'd have to be booked doing b/g almost every single day for that to happen. Porn does not pay what it used to and there is so much less work..I'm a porn star and have been around for years so I know what I'm talking about. You'll have to pay them a percentage of your earnings, about $200 for an STD test, pay the driver and pay for a place to stay. If they offer you a "model house" to stay in, these places are awful. Chicks stealing stuff, you often share a room w a girl you don't know, drugs, etc. If you want an agency, go with OC Modeling or ATMLA. Those are the two I would reccomend that are big in the business and well known. Don't go with some no name agency. Just my opinion.

That's good advice, thank you. Do you know the average percent of earnings that an agency will take?

I would not trust or touch this with a bargepole. Any legit company will contact prospective models through legit channels, not on a webcam site. My rape/ kidnap/ complete whacko alarm bells are going off, or at the very least a ploy to get you to keep talking to him in future for free.

That's 100% how I felt about it. Then I got into contact with some of the models they have listed on the website, and they all said really good things about the agency. Their license checks out and is up to date, and a few people have messaged me saying it's a legit organization. Based on what the other models said, I'm going to go up to LA with my boyfriend for 5 days. If it doesn't work out, we'll drive back down. Thankfully we don't live too far away so we won't be stranded without a plane ticket or anything crazy like that.
