Don't cause a scene and don't talk shit. Those reactions only serve to make you look bad. What you want to do is divert the customer's attention back to you. I'm not sure how you interact while waiting in line, but don't just stand there doing nothing. Talk to him while making eye contact with him, angle your body so he can't see them, touch his arm/shoulder/neck/chest to distract him and keep him focused on you. Keep him excited about going to VIP with you so he doesn't feel the need to look around and pay attention to someone else for a good minute or so.
As for going up the the girls? I wouldn't. I will always eye flirt with customers who I talked to earlier or who are regulars if they're sitting with someone else. I want him to remember/know I'm there. Lots of the girls at my club make it easy because they just sit there, barely paying attention to the customers, so of course his eye wanders. I've had other dancers do it to me, and I just amp up my flirting to keep his attention.
The strip club is a visual environment. Men go to look at beautiful women. You can't fault them for looking around. All you can do is get them so enthralled with you that they don't feel the need to see what else is available.

I'll take a bit different stance on this topic. It essentially amounts to the clubowner allowing the 'tag team' dancers to officially undercut the price to the customer. If the clubowner tacitly approves of this ( because the club's share of one VIP sold by two dancers is higher than the club's share of zero VIP's sold by two dancers working separately ), I'd be looking into opportunities at different clubs. There are two girls at my club who team up together and sell two girl VIP shows for the price of one. Individually, I'm not threatened by either of them. But obviously getting a 2 for 1 deal appeals to many customers.
However I agree with Shanna that causing a scene with the clubowner or the 'tag team' dancers will be counter-productive at best ( and potentially risky at worst ).

I'd just say "Quantity doesn't always mean quality darlin'."
