Default Kraft Mac & Cheese Shedding the Dyes

NEW YORK (AP) — This is the last year that the original version of Kraft Mac & Cheese sold in the U.S. will contain artificial preservatives or synthetic colors.

In January, Kraft says its macaroni and cheese will be colored using paprika, annatto and turmeric.

There has been a huge shift away from processed foods in the U.S. and larger food producers are trying to follow their customers in that direction.

Hopefully this will become more widespread, with food producers using less artificial preservatives and synthetic colors.

I think I remember reading somewhere that an ingredient in the Kraft mac & cheese has been banned in Britain for sometime - maybe yellow dye - it was linked to ADD

I remember reading somewhere that the US is the only place left that Kraft sold their artificially colored products, so that would make sense with what you read about Britain banning it. As a big mac and cheese eater, i'm happy to hear this.

There are A LOT of things we are allowed to eat in the US that are banned in most other countries. Here are some examples: http://eatlocalgrown.com/article/119...ned-foods.html

Because of Kraft doing this, Panera Bread went through their menu. They dropped 150 (yes, 150!) artificial ingredients from their menu. http://www.wcvb.com/money/panera-eli...trend/32812302

I'm glad Kraft is making this move. I can't make stuff from scratch all the time and eat pre packaged things a few times a week. Hopefully it won't have that weird taste to it anymore after this is implemented. I dunno, since I started eating healthier, I can tell when something has artificial ingredients. It just tastes weird.
