" I would rather be tired than BROKE"

Harbor Island is a pretty shady place. Lots of drugs there. You'd be better off going somewhere over on Tropicana heading west. There's a couple of different weekly places not far from Dean Martin Ave, where most of the clubs are located near by. I've seriously walked home from Sapphires once when I had a bad night!
Theres lots of shops and food places right on Decatur and Tropicana and if you are cabbing it, the cost is fairly low if you stay over that way instead. I lived there thirteen years, and I have personally stayed over there before. The cost is usually in the $250/week range. Good luck! Emerald Suites is the nicest although a little more expensive. I believe its over by the Orleans casino.

i have no idea what wouldnt be booked already. i heard of a girl actually staying in pahrump because all of the hotels have been booked solid for weeks.

I'm also interested in extended stay places in Vegas. Besides Emerald Suites, do you have any other places that you'd recommend? Are any pet friendly. Thinking of making it an extended extended stay and bringing my kitties.

The reviews for that Emerald Suited location said they were horrible, smelly, and had bed bugs D:

circus circus was always cheap so I stayed there with no problems. Palace Station is on the cheap as well.

Do you guys know what girls average out there these days? I'm nervous about going out and shelling out money for an extended stay hotel and then making crap :/

Everyone local that's been there is telling me it's horrible right now and girls save their money during convention season to live off of now :/

do you guys realize you can stay at stratosphere, excalibur, circus circus or anything on freemont for $35 a night on priceline.com??? I got married out in vegas then got stuck there because of a snowstorm at my home and couldn't go back. Just go on priceline or kayak.com and get a hotel that has a resturant, convenience store, maid and shuttle bus CHEAP!

hooters is $32 a night, circus is $40, palace on freemont is $34...list goes on and on. Stay away from econo lodges and extended stay motels. I've been to vegas 14 times in the last 7 years. Stay at a casino.

Yikes!!! I had a friend that stayed there and she never said anything bad about it, but then again it was like three years ago. Things change:/ I've stayed at the one on South Las Vegas Blvd, and it was the nicest weekly stay place I've ever been to.
Just keep doing your research. I always go on Trip Advisor when looking for a hotel or weekly stay in any city.

What was the average price of a room list night in Vegas? I couldn't imagine rooms would still be only 30 bucks a night on the strip still?

Check out airbnb. You can rent an apartment short term for around what you'd pay or less for a hotel room.

I'd check air b n b.....I know someone who lives in a gated community off of Tropicana....If you have a car you can do that & avoid the grossness and crowds of the Strip and other sections of the city...

I've used airbnb before, not in Vegas however. Anyways, its great. Just make sure the place has good reviews and you can see if the guest will be there or not - sometimes you can have a whole place to yourself with the tenant just showing up to let you in, giving you ultimate privacy. I went to savannah last year during tourist season and a regular holiday inn wanted 250. I made the reso just in case and happened to find out about airbnb when I was down there. They do a background check on you via drivers license or passport. I found a wonderful place that a chef owned and the experience was much more fulfilling than being in a hotel. It ranges from renting a room out of someone home to renting their whole condo. If you're traveling anywhere and want that 'local experience' , then I would highly recommend it.

They jack up the prices on weekends though. What about staying in Summerlin/Henderson and driving to work? Is there not parking at the clubs for dancers?

So stay slightly off the strip, or at the end of it. I did the Riviera once over a weekend around Christmas, which is like halfway in 'season', and it was also in the $40 range. Nice rooms, just at the seedy shit end of the strip by Circus Circus. You can also try Pricelining it and bidding, just ask for a hotel near or on the strip. It usually spits out either the strip or Fremont St.
Are you driving to Vegas, or would you have to rent a car? Henderson is a good little clip out there. If you'd have to rent a car, I don't think it'd be worth the hotel cost savings.

You can get a hotel for 40 why stay in Henderson. My aunt and uncle live their and it's like 30 min form the strip. then you have to rent a car. $0 is cheap. I pay sometimes 150 a night places I travel to and that's with priceline or the hotwire hot deal where they give you the name after.

Oh if your driving some places charge you 20-30 a day for your car so ask about that. Most places I stay do. But I fly.
