I recently was fired from a club after working there for several years. This club is no-bullshit, very strict. Many girls have been fired at one point, and kept out for a few weeks to a few years depending on the situation. The owner has a reputation for having a bad temper and because I never see or talk to him, I don't think he has ever liked me very much. I was sent home a few months ago because I "mouthed off" to a customer who had tried to steal from me. That was my fault and I took complete responsibility for it. The other night I was trying to get through the crowd to do a dance I had been paid to do on a certain song. I said "excuse me" twice to a guy whose chair was blocking my way. He didn't hear me, so I nugged his chair an inch and forced my way through, saying sorry along the way. The guy flipped out and was very offended. He complained to my manager, and I was sent home. Even though my manager reassured me it wasn't a big deal and to come back tomorrow, the owner clearly did not agree. He gave my friend my license and told her I wouldn't be working there anymore and could come back after summer. He made my friend fire me, so I never got to speak with him directly.
I've never been fired from anything before. I wrote him a little note taking responsibility for my bad behavior and such. I'm going to wait a few weeks and then go try to talk to him. I'm wondering how to best handle this situation. I would love input on how to reassure this guy that I'm pleasant to his customers and an asset to his club. I'd also like input on how to build good relationships with management. I never interact with the owner - the only time you really speak to him is if you get a complaint. What he doesn't hear is the great feedback I get from his customers regularly. I'm good at my job, I just had a bitchy day and some bad luck.
