    Default Bouncer tips!

Ok, so in my club it is optional to tip the bouncers (but highly encouraged). I've been tipping $5 - $15 a shift depending on the cash Ive made that night. Last shift I had the one bouncer I'm not so fond of, ask me how much I made during a pretty casual conversation. I made the stupid mistake of telling him that I had earned about $250 and stated that I felt it was not a great amount, but decent.

He laughed and said, "Oh thats so cute. Well I guess thats a decent amount for you considering your still a rookie." (Seriously Im considering never going in fri - sun just so I can avoid this guy.)

Anyway, at the end of my shift he tells me, "Give me $25 (10% of what I made) and Ill go grab the manager so you can leave." I kind of brushed him off and got the manager myself while handing $7 to the other bouncer. He thanked me and has always been sweet like every bouncer there with the exception of the one mentioned earlier. I paid my house fee ($20) and left for the night.

So my question is... am I short changing the bouncers? How much do you give to your bouncers?

Personally speaking, if a bouncer is actively contributing to increasing my own earnings ... by steering me lucrative customers etc. ... then it makes good business sense to tip that bouncer well.

Also, if a bouncer is providing me valuable services ... like booting an extremely unruly customer out of the club, or escorting me to my car if the club's parking lot is in a seedy area ... then it also makes sense to tip that bouncer well.

However, if the bouncer isn't doing a goddam thing to help me personally, then I'm typically not very generous.

I have been rather successful by treating bouncers like dogs in need of training !!! Communicating the point that future bouncer tip levels are going to directly proportional to how much 'help' the bouncer provides toward increasing my income potential and watching my 'back' has usually been very effective !!!

Agreed with Melonie. If the bouncer imagines 10% of income toward all staff is appropriate then it actually becomes more lucrative to become a staff member rather than a dancer- not that you need to communicate this to him, he sounds as though he just doesnt give a shit.

Keep it simple and along the lines of Melonies suggestion. Don't allow a staff member to interfere with your schedule and earnings potential.

I've never tipped a bouncer unless they helped me out in some way (helped me find a good customer or one who was interested in me or helped me with a difficult customer.)

But then again, the tip out at my club goes into a "tip pool" so the bouncers make decent money, I know that for a fact.

Pffffft, I only tip a bouncer for doing something helpful, like making sure I get paid or walking me out. That said, I only tip $3-$5 to be walked out. I don't believe I should have to subsidize club security, and $5 is plenty for the simple task of walking me 10 feet to my car. They don't even have to carry my bag.

I avoid the ungrateful ones; we have a new one that was bitching about how we don't tip enough so he doesn't make enough money. Right, after I see another one driving a 2015 Challenger.

I would ignore that one. I've never heard of a bouncer getting 10%, EVER. He's full of shit.

We don't have a mandatory tipout at one club I work in, but we're strongly encouraged to tip. I take 10%, divide it up between each tipped employee (DJ, bouncer(s) and manager. They all get an equal cut, unless they did something spectacular that day. If that's the case, I give them an extra tip separately and thank them.

My other club has a mandatory 10%. Again, if someone does something extraordinary, like the time a bouncer got an extra pair of shoes out of my car, I'll tuck an extra tip in their pocket them extra when I thank them.

A gratuity is just that. Someone dictating how much I should be tipping them will be very disappointed...

    ^ this!

At my home club I usually tip the bouncer a flat $5 (regardless of what I made) unless he's gone out of his way for me in some way. 10% of your earnings? No way in hell!

I tip all of my bouncers $5 as long as I make my minimum goal. The VIP bouncer usually ends up getting extra tips depending on how many dances I do and the DJ will get extra if I have a fantastic stage set or I ask him to get new music. None of them expect tips since dancers are not required to tip staff in my club. So when a dancer is known to tip they go the extra mile for them. They don't dare ask me for one (unless they are joking) because they know I have a short fuse and will never tip them again.

Yeah, this bouncer has been making snide remarks and I get the feeling he's attempting to put me down in order to make himself feel supperior to me? Pimpish? Idk. Ugh I've made so many stupid mistakes surrounding him. Im never going to mention what I've earned to anyone again (lesson learned for sure). Thank god being too weak to refuse handing him the 10% wasnt one of them. I think I even remember him wanting 20% from me last week which def didn't happen. I was not under the impression that any of the other girls were tipping that amount. I think (like Selina and Laqueefa said) the guy wants to see how much he can push me around or how gullible I am since Ive only been there for about 3 months now.

When I first auditioned it was with a friend who used to work as a stripper for that club. The same bouncer and her were very friendly and I wouldnt have auditioned that night if it werent for him pushing us to get out there despite the ridiculous street clothes we were in, but we got the job and I thanked him.

He said he was in charge of getting girls to show up if we were short on dancers so I gave him my number (big fat mistake and I really should have known better). He started texting me demanding I come in and at one point he texting me twice in a row saying "dance for me". I got a kinda creepish vibe from him. Since then he hasnt used my number seeing as I never met his requests and started to stop replying. My friend even mentioned that she started to get messages from him on her facebook saying "he needs her" (Why he has her facebook I'll never know.) Really I should have left scheduling to management. He really likes to mention that he got me into auditioning too, like I owe him my job. Im trying to figure out how to solve all this crap without stepping on the wrong toes. From everyones replies (esp Meloni's) it sounds like Im going to have to start being a little bitchy with him in inorder to get him out of belittling me. Im not going to hand him a dollar till he stops. Felt bad too cause after all that, he walked me to my car (saying how expensive mothers day has been... -_-) but after that night I wasnt about to reward that behavior.

^^There are creeps like this is most clubs, unfortunately. There was a manager in one club that I worked in that would straight up ask any woman who'd pay attention to him for sex, despite the fact that he's married with a baby on the way. Dancers who refuse are screwed with until they quit or, in my case, called in some favors from other managers to put him in his place. It's a sad fact but a small contingent of male strip club employees have some pretty fucked up ideas about dancers and what they think they can get away with.

I'd mostly ignore him and tip appropriately. I'd also ignore his texts if they start up again. If he demands a tip from you, explain the club tipping policy and state that you'll tip him appropriately at the end of your shift. Be calm about it and don't let him rile you up. He'll move on to easier targets. I have a pretty nasty temper and I had to learn to keep it in check, so I didn't show how furious I was. It let's them think they're winning. Stay in control and it's likely to blow over.

^^ I think that's really good advice. After writting my post I realized that he prob knows alot more about me then I anticipated considering he and I are mutual friends with someone on facebook. Essentially all he has to do is look down her friends list and find a picture of my face and bam now he knows the names of family. I had no idea I even fucked up so bad. I might have to head out to a different club and delete my facebook if worse comes to worse. That or if I stay I can avoid too much interaction with him while keeping him happy til he leaves in sept. It was a relief when he told me he was headed out of the state to open up and bounce for another club.

If he takes this shit outside and starts hassling you or your family, you have every right to slap him with a restraining order. I'd block him on Facebook immediately.

If he's leaving in September, try to ignore him as much as possible and, if you have support from management, bring any issues you have up, so they know what's going on. Just stay the course, don't let it get to you and do what you're supposed to do.

I only tip bouncers directly relating to me and my work in a club. I have skipped bouncers and tipped the doorman a few times. I do let a couple that know me well gently slap my bum but its all ok. I find it frustrating to tip the DJ if they Dont play my set, or they dont announce me well, or just throw on the set and walk off for a smoke.
There are plenty of bouncers that expect a lot, but I tell them their perks are Eye candy..
Some bouncers at the VIP or lap dance booth can get me tipping well if they know the local men and know what they like. Some bouncers even have the guy all prepped for me and I have not ever met the man before.. Thats huge, small talk all done, and not by me!
ya gotta manage the bouncers..... LOL, to a degree.

God! I hate it when the staff starts in with the "I'm so broke I can't afford to pay my lights bill" bullshit when asking for extra tips. I'd reply with something like "You know, the gay bar is hiring go-go boys, and those guys make bank by dry humping old, wrinkly, gay men. You know, like how I make my money, but with straight men..."

    That usually shuts them up.

    Go to the manager.

    Seriously.

Even if you feel like they aren't going to take you seriously, it is worth a shot. I highly doubt you will be the only one complaining if your friend has also gotten weird messages from him. I'm sure other girls have dealt with his creepiness too. You saying something could be "the straw that breaks the camels back" so to speak...if there have been other complaints, this could very well get him fired and then you wouldn't even need to wait until Sept!

Every club i worked in had a "suggested 10% earnings to Dj and 'take care of the bouncers'" I did have a bouncer that swore he deserved 10% no matter what, even if I didnt make my house fee. He would constantly praise the dancer "who would tip him 20$ everyday no matter what even if she didnt do a single dance." Yes, I was effing and bjing Im sure Id have 20$ to spare every shift. I would usually give him 5$ maybe more 10 If I did really well.

Fuck that guy and you need to tell him. He's taking advantage because your new. I tip out 150 -200 plus a night just to work at most clubs I work. How many bouncers do you have and what's the minimum? I'd never give that asshole more than the minimum. Some bouncers think their fucken managers. Most places i work It's not required. I've worked in places min 5 to each. If one points me in the way of a guy who spends a substantial amount I'd tip him well. But to hell with that guy. I like how he tried to be all slick about it. like a sales pitch. I actually have never had one make me money. they usually send you over to tons of guys hoping one will spend so he can act like he did something. I can find my own guys. In huge clubs were i don't know anyone maybe. I had one that would stand and glare at me and whomever i sat with scaring guys away thinking he was my boyfriend because i wouldn't go out with him. yeah tip that ass , whom thinks he's slick minimum.

We are supposed to give each bouncer $5 (1 bouncer Sunday-Thursday and 2 or 3 on Friday and Saturday). The ones that help me and get me customers in the VIP get extra, and I have a great guy that hustles the customers with me to tip me and him so I don't have to tip him out at the end of my shift and we both end up making more $ by working together.

I refuse to tip the bouncer who stands at the door at watches me walk to my car, doesn't carry my bags, and can't even see me the entire time while I'm in the parking lot, so I go and grab a good bouncer that helps me, and the guy that 'watches me' doesn't get a tip.

The most valuable thing that I have my bouncers do (I will try to tip them extra $ but they don't except it) is have them check my brake lights and turn signals when I start my car. To date, after almost 15 years, knock on wood, I have never been pulled over leaving work for some bs reason like tail lights. We all know how much cops love to pull us over and f*ck with us, even if we had nothing to drink that night, and my favorite bouncer does this for me at least once a week and has started to do it for some of the other girls who are cool to him too, even on nights when we can't tip.

The bouncers have really been pissing me off lately. One made a comment the other day about "I could pay him more". Right, on the deadest shift I've seen in months, where I'm leaving with $28, I should give you $10 of it? In exchange for you walking me out and listening to you bitch about how nobody tips enough? HOKAY.

The other new one hits on me all the fucking time. He's young and thinks because I chatted to him on his first day that I must like him. He put his arm around my waist and pulled me over to him the other day. I about slapped him.

Unless one of the 2 good ones is there, if it's still light out or the club isn't packed enough that people park out back, I leave out the back door. Knock on wood that I've never encountered a customer back there doing this.
