Default Having trouble selling that first dance

If I can convince a guy to buy one dance from me, I'm usually able to get a few more out of him pretty easily.
But selling that first dance is still a real struggle for me.
Any really great person tips or advice, stuff you learned from experience? What works for you girls?

You don't need to convince anyone, they are all there because they want you to dance for them, you just need to take your pick of guy. If someone says no, see it as a blessing (they were probably looking for someone else or something you can't provide - the universe works in mysterious ways) and move on. I just tell them it's time to go and take them.

I wanna dance for you so bad qt pie let's go.\

    Let's go upstairs.

    Come with me.

All cute lil one liners u an use.

I have a lot of regulars. I use that as my main sales pitch to someone I've never danced for before.
"I've got some time until my next VIP client arrives, wanna go have some fun before he steals me away?" Usually works very well. They like that I have a fan base, they like the idea that they are getting me while I'm fresh and clean. They will work hard to impress me because I've got customers lined up, so they try extra hard to make an impression.

sometimes that happens....especially if the club is kinda dead and the customers can see you getting rejected then they are more likely to say no.

    Easy ways to combat this:

Door hawk for new fresh customers
Go to the dressing room for a couple minutes to regroup
    Change outfits
Walk around near vip area - looks like you are coming out of VIP
    Dance on stage
    Tag team with another dancer
    Be patient
    Be more aggressive

Do you usually use a long initial hustle or a short one?

If you're using a longer hustle (2+ songs), then your customers have time to pick up on your anxieties and insecurities when it comes to 'popping the question.' So if that's your current strategy, then perhaps consider starting off your shifts using faster hustles until you've warmed up a bit.

The first dance is always the most difficult. The strategy that works best for me is one that I learned here actually. The key is to read your customer and tie the dance into the conversation.

I have a lot of trouble with getting that first dance too. My solution has been to be at the club when they open (or at others, when day shift ends and night shift begins). Most girls tend to chill at the bar at the beginning of a shift and I take advantage of that time to go up to the lone or few poor souls that entered the club really early. Once I get those first couple dances in, or even just a single dance, the rest of my night goes really smoothly. When I don't do this, it typically takes me HOURS to sell my first dance.

This is what I do. It's often pretty cheesy and you might feel silly at first, especially if you tie it in with nodding while you say it subconsciously push them to say yes, but it works. It shows that you've been paying attention to the conversation and, more importantly, to THEM. That goes a long way when many dancers will just go through the typical small chat and all of a sudden bust out a "wanna dance" line.

So, if it's been a song or two or however long the norm is to sit with customers at your club and your customer just finished talking about his winter vacation to Hawaii, offer him a private luau or topical getaway. If he said he spent the weekend cleaning, tell him that you're ready to be his sexy French maid. If he's going to watch a hockey game later, tell him you want to show him how you do a hat trick (this one is great because it primes him to buy at least 3 dances). If he likes Star Wars, offer him a visit to your Millennium Falcon or to be his Princess Leia. etc. etc.

This does entail knowing a little bit about a lot of different things, but as long as you can pull one nugget of what he's into from your conversation (and focusing on this will keep you from running through a standard chit chat list of questions, thus better establishing rapport anyway), frame it into closing line and throw in some flirty body language, you're golden.

And even if it's not 100% relevant, many will still appreciate the connection to something they like. So, if you mix up Star Wars with Star Trek and say you're ready to beam him up instead, they'll probably still be impressed enough that you were listening and trying to relate. Just giggle and say "oops, silly me!" while pushing your cleavage together and it's all gravy.

agreed! don't ask him, TELL him! most of them need to be led. or if you're not the assertive type or in that kinda mood, sometimes I'll say "so which dance do you want? The CR or should we start with a topless or nude dance first?" I don't ask "if" I ask "which" :p works pretty well

Sometimes that first takes so much longer than you anticipate, it's super important to remain calm, happy and at ease or the customers can smell your fear! Just have trust in yourself because you KNOW that you will sell a dance eventually, maybe you only need to sell one today as a super rich guy will come in have that one dance then book you for a few hours and leave a great tip too.

plus like the others have said, read your customers, build a (quick) rapport and always be turning conversation into making that sale.

Also pay attention to the things you might be doing before your shift to psyche yourself out of that first sale. Do you hit the floor minutes after you arrive? Or do you procrastinate the sale? I force myself to start working the second I'm dressed. I don't chat with the other girls / staff, I don't get a drink, I don't wait until after my first stage rotation, and I don't do my hair and makeup in the dressing room. I come ready to work and don't waste any time. Otherwise my anxiety would prevent me from getting that first sale. I'd just stand there and start over-thinking my hustle.

Sometimes (this is going to make me sound insane), I'll even talk to myself in the car on the way to work. Specifically as a strategy to get out of my head. I'll do it in kind of a way like I'm making fun of my ditzier work persona, but it helps me get into that mindset. I'll say some cheesy sales lines out loud, say "Hiii, I'm (stage name)" in a flirty, girly voice, give an imaginary customer a compliment ("Woooow, I love your tie..."), etc. Or I'll just sing along with my music. Anything to get myself out of my head (I'm naturally very introverted) and ready to socialize. It really helps me to hear my own voice out loud and use my stage name to lessen the transition period into work mode.

Another small thing I do that sometimes makes a huge difference for me ($$$!) is to look like I'm SUPER happy and excited when I walk into the club before my shift. We have to walk through the club to get to the dressing room, and I work in a one-room club, so every customer can see us when we walk in wearing our civilian clothes. I always have my hair and makeup done before I get there, and I make sure I'm smiling like a crazy person the second I step inside. I make eye contact with people, say "HIII!" and really engage with the room during my quick walk to the DR. Many of the first customers I sell tell me that they noticed me the minute I walked into the club, and they specifically noticed how happy I looked. They say "you really look like you want to be here!" Which makes that first sale much easier for me. I see so many girls working who aren't smiling and look like they're mentally 100 miles away from the club - they only smile when they make direct eye contact with people, which comes across as very insincere. When they arrive for their shifts, they have their heads down and beeline towards the dressing room. Little adjustments can make an enormous difference. Even if smiling when you walk in just makes your first sale slightly easier, that's something!

Its very important to go in strong and be committed in your first few hustles. Go for a quiet customer, sitting on their own, who seems settled and having a drink. One who you can walk up to, and give a quick and intense hustle, to convince them to go for "a sexy dance to kick start (their) night". I like to get a dance as fast as possible, to put me into he mind frame for a good night. Looking really happy and excited to be in the club helps. I have had nights where Ive tried hard but started too early and haven't gotten a dance for 3 hours, then ended up making plenty of $. If this happens, its important for me to remember that the night can start off extremely slow, and then become amazing later on. I never loose hope, and sometimes its best to conserve energy until later in the night, when the customers are more ready and willing to spend.
