Default Announcing CamGirlNet.com - An Adult Social Network, CamGirl Community & Marketplace

    Hey all,

Wanted to take a moment and invite everyone to a hobby project I've been working on called - it's a social network that's intended mostly for the cam girl community, but I want the social networking aspects of it to really be focused on the entire adult entertainment, voyeur, cam girls, strippers, sex, & porn community as a whole.

That said, I just wanted to extend an invitation to everyone to help me make sure every thing is working as it should and to help develop some content.

As a member, you basically get a profile/wall page, where you can leave statuses, upload images, share videos, and basically do some of the same things that other social networks allow you to do - except with adult content allowed. And of course, you can "friend" other individuals and keep track of what they're posting and such.

Additionally, you can create or join groups. For instance, maybe you want to create a group for voyeurists and have discussions relating specifically to voyeurism...you can do that. Or maybe you want to create a group just for sharing images of wives and girlfriends...you can do that, too. Or maybe you want to create a group that's invitation only for strippers to share ideas, tips and tricks - you can do that, too. You can even make the group hidden so pesky members who have no business joining the group can't see it.

Ultimately, what I want to do with the site is to start generating a user base that makes the site appealing to Cam Girls who want to interact with the community and sell items in our CamGirl Marketplace - although the functionality of the market place could be extended to porn actresses or strippers. The idea behind the marketplace is that Cam Girls can list items up for sale, including physical, shippable items like panties or virtual items like private downloads of movies or photo galleries, and then individuals on our site can purchase those items from them.

I'd tinkered with the idea of letting anyone sell items, but the risks involved of just allowing anyone and everyone to sell on the site seemed too great and at this point, I can least do a basic amount of verification on CamGirls by having them place links on their cam site profile so I know that when they list items, they're the real deal and not just someone trying to scam.

Some additional information about payment processing:
As far as payment processing is concerned, that's a very important aspect and I've put a lot of thought into how transactions are made. Obviously sites like PayPal are big NO, but I wanted the reception of payments to be just as accessible. I'm a big fan of using Bitcoins when it comes to adult transactions, but unfortunately, a lot of people in the industry, such as Cam Girls, aren't interested in learning about Bitcoin or dealing with volatility - so with CamGirlNet, I've attempted to find a middle ground, where on the back end I'm using Bitcoins to keep transaction quick, efficient, adult friendly, private, and cheap, but paying sellers on the site in such a way that they aren't at risk of charge backs or losing value on their sales.

    Here's how it works.
    - Items on the site can be bought using Bitcoins or a Coinbase account.
-As a Coinbase merchant, once I've received the coins, they're immediately converted to a cash, USD value. This means if someone buys an item for $10, the amount I receive is $10 regardless of what the price of bitcoins might do over any certain period of time.
-Sellers on the site are then required to sign up for a Circle.com account, which basically a very simplified payment processor that allows them to receive Bitcoins as USD cash and deposit to a bank account. In this way, if a seller is entitled to $10, they'll receive $10 in their account and that balance will always remain $10 on their Circle.com account until they choose to withdraw to a bank account or card.
Using this method, the adult item seller is never at risk of losing money, which is one of the major concerns in the adult industry. In this way, we're actually place the risk on the buyer of the adult items, many of which are happy to use Bitcoin in an effort to keep their purchases off their credit card statement and out of the prying eyes of others. There's never a risk of charge backs, there's never a risk of your account balances losing value, and really the only thing that doesn't make this solution ideal is that as the middle man, it takes quite a bit more manual work to handle payouts, requiring both patience on the part of the sellers and also, honestly, a greater amount of trust that I, as the administrator of the site, will keep my word of making payouts.

Thanks for taking a moment to look at the site. Just wanting to get some feedback before I put more money and time into it. Looking to move to a new server soon away from my cheap hosting server, but if people don't like it, then it'd be money wasted.

That said, I appreciate the criticism about the layout - I really do! The look and feel of the site is certainly not up to par with what I want it to be, partially due to focusing on other areas of the site (functionality), partly due to expediting release (faster just to minimally alter existing templates), and also partially because what I think might be okay or look ok doesn't jive with what others do - and in this case, even if I think "that looks okay" others might not and because my site ultimately needs to appeal to the masses and not just me, I appreciate the feedback on not liking the layout. What would you like to see? Suggestions?

Certainly Twitter is far superior in functionality and design, they're also far superior in budget expenses by a long, long shot - so I'm never going to try to say I'll compete with Twitter because I just can't. I don't have the resources, skills or budget to do so and never likely will. What I will say, and partially the motivation to launching this site, is that when it comes to adult content, Twitter is going to be cracking down very, very hard and the convenience of Twitter is going to be shrouded by their acceptable use policy not allowing adult entertainers to use their pages in a way they may have been in the past.

Take a look at this - Twitter is getting ready to purge 10 million adult accounts due to pornographic related activities.

Now, you might say, well I just won't post adult content, but then at what point will Twitter stop and at what point will Twitter just straight up ban users related to the adult industry? It might sound crazy, but porn stars have literally had their bank accounts frozen and closed as a result of simply being porn stars.

Again, I'll never suggest my site is perfect as it is, and I'm not suggesting this is the end all solution to everyone's problems relating to adult content social networking or adult content sales, but at the very least, it's my attempt at doing something about it - and maybe it catches on, maybe it doesn't, maybe it needs more tweaking, and maybe it's just never going to work the way I eventually hope it will, but for the time being I'll keep working at it and pushing forward. Such is the case with any web site, and I don't expect anything to happen overnight. What I hope is that maybe a few people will see this site and maybe be in line with some of the things I hope to achieve through it and if these people stay for the long haul, hopefully the site can make changes along the way that make everyone happy.
