Default Would you work in this case?

For the past month I've had an on-again-off-again eye stye (a blocked duct due to bacteria from makeup, contacts etc.) and lately it's gotten worse in the past few days. The doctor gave me a note for up to a week off work since I told them I'm a dancer. However, I was really late to one of my shifts this week and I annoyed the manager. I took a night off for my eye which he was understanding about, but told him I'd still come in the next day for my shift to make up for the one I was late to. (Looking back, I regret saying this, but usually if I treat my eye for a day or so it looks visibly better the next day)

It's pretty swollen but I know with makeup I could effectively hide it and still go in. Except then it will take longer to heal in the long run.

I should mention my last shift I sold 5 VIPs so I don't really need the money, however I do like working and don't want my manager to be even more annoyed. But I also can't deal with this eye problem much longer - it needs to heal already

    thoughts?

Can you flip your hair over the eye Veronica Lake-style? Or wear a sparkly eyepatch & say you had an optometrist's appointment?

I say take the time off. But on the other hand don't do anything that will ruin your ability to get scheduled...

you should go in and not try to hide it so your manager sees how bad it is and feels sorry for you instead of annoyed next time youre late.

^^Seriously. I used to work in a club like OPs. Calling out sick without a cover was not an option (flu season was hell), so I'd go in looking and sounding like garbage. The manager would usually let me go and appreciated my effort.

Another option that could work is texting management a pic of your eye. I did that before when I had hives and it worked.

Also, keep in mind that you eventually need to take a week off from makeup and contacts or else it'll probably never go away.

^ I recently got several sore throat pics when a manager at my occasional club was begging for dancers. I'd text the pic, just to let him know what's up, and show up feeling rough.

You really do need to eventually take some time off to let it heal. I had an eye infection for months, because I was too damn stubborn to let it heal.

This depends on how relaxed your club is but i danced with an eye infection wearing minimal makeup and my glasses (i'm really short sighted) flitting between 'sexy secretary' and 'naughty schoolgirl' as looks for the night.

But I advise giving yourself time to recover otherwise you will create bigger problems for yourself.
