In the interest of 'equal time' I would point out that the big international banks profit in a big way from 'prop trading' everything from currency spreads to commodities to stocks and bonds. In comparison, regional banks and credit unions are almost solely dependent on 'retail' borrowers repaying their business loans, mortgages, car loans, credit cards etc. on time for them to remain profitable.
Thank you Whirlerz. I thought about posting the same but nothing the " Too Big To Fail " banks do or have done surprises me anymore.
