Default Travelling dancers. Do you go alone?

I'm really into making money in other cities than my own. I just wondered if there are many other girls that do it alone or do you guys always have company. Would you say you need to be one of the more experienced dancers to be a travelling dancer? Or could I do just fine I'm only a couple weeks into the industry. I've been to ny and miami but never went all the way and did my thing down there Cause I was on my own..

I would strongly not recommend travelling until you've got at least 6-12mo experience. The tighter your game is, the more easily you will be able to successfully(read: financially) adapt to unforeseen factors, & the only way to get there is thru experience. Remember that when you're travelling, your overhead is several times greater than when you're just working locally -- you need to factor in transportation, lodging, food, etc & also incidentals, for example needing to run out & get a new outfit or three bc it turns out you have nothing fitting the dancer dress code at the club that wants to hire you.

Personally, I prefer having a friend to travel w/, but it's got to be sm1 I trust w/ my life -- so far, I've met maybe two dancers fitting that bill in the 5+ yrs I danced. I need to know that she is as clean a dancer as I am, isn't going to put me in an unsafe/illegal bind, won't try to steal from me, will have my back if smtg goes wrong. That said, sm times the club will want only one of a pair & not the other, & I had that happen from one club my friend & I tried to audition at. They wanted me but not her, & didn't even have the balls to say it to our faces, they told me (& only me) via txt She is my friend, so to me it was no question that we were a package deal, but sm times that can cause awkwardness.

Depends. I want someone reasonably sane, intelligent, considerate and nocturnal. Very few dancers have these attributes. The ones that do are gems, though. Lady Ambition was a great travel buddy back when we went to Abq in 2011, Starling is a great guest and a couple of other SW members I won't name were fantastic as well. (Privacy reasons on their end)

I always travel on my own. I started travelling to work after 3 months of dancing.

I'm still new to the business but just my 2 cents. I don't think it's all about being an experienced dancer as it is just being mature and smart enough to be on your own. I've gone traveling by myself to visit friends and when you're on your own you do face challenges sometimes. So you have to be able to handle certain challenges outside of dancing before you can even think about just going to a new club. Some people can't handle being on their own when a tough decision comes up.

I don't think there a set amount of experience you should have before traveling but should have an established hustle. Once you have your hustle down you can just adjust it for the particular club you're at.

I've traveled alone and with another girl (within and outside my state). There's advantages and disadvantages to both. Disadvantage I experienced was the girl with me couldn't get hired at the same clubs I did so I ended up working at my second or third choice clubs. The nice part was hotel expenses cut in half.

I did my first Vegas trip alone and everything went great. However you decide to do it make sure you plan well.

I was doing the traveling model thing before I ever started dancing, and I always travel alone. I don't take any unnecessary risks when it comes to safety... well, anymore.

After a couple of bad experiences when I first started travel dancing with another dancer, I have always travelled alone.

The bad experiences related to my being hired as promised upon arrival at the distant club, but my travelling companion dancer being given the 'we have too many girls right now' shuffle. This quickly resulted in huge complications as there was only one dancing income ( mine ) to cover hotel, food, gas etc. expense costs. This could have been even worse, as I had to let my travelling companion take my car to run around a 'strange' new city to audition at other clubs while I was expected to dance at the original club ... but fortunately no accidents, no robberies etc.

The bad experiences also related to both my travelling companion and I being hired as promised upon arrival at a different distant club, but my travelling companion's earnings turning out to be comparatively low. This again resulted in complications as I wound up picking up the majority of hotel, food, gas etc. expense costs to avoid my travelling companion whining about 'losing money' on the road trip.

From that point forward, I decided to travel alone. This allowed me to work at the most upscale club available ( since I didn't need to consider whether my travelling companion dancer was also hire-able or not ) thus increasing my earnings, allowed me to pack my 12 volt cooler and enough food to avoid restaurant meals, and eliminated 'surprises' from the known costs of the road trip.

This also allowed me to transition into a 'quadrangle' road trip approach of one city the first week, a second city the second week, a third city the third week, and then finally returning home to take a week off and catch up on real life necessities. Not having to return home every week cut out a ton of mileage and associated costs, and would not have been possible if a travelling companion dancer was involved.

I'll throw out one additional tidbit ... the IRS allows a 57.5 cent per mile business travel tax deduction for a reason. Besides the direct costs of gas and tolls, driving thousands of miles WILL translate into additional costs for oil changes, tires and brakes, etc. So I always included the imputed mileage cost on top of hotel and other travel expenses when trying to figure out if travelling 100-200-300 miles to club X in city Y was going to be a net moneymaker or not.

I've always travelled alone, I'd have to be insanely good friends with the girl to be travelling together, also it would suck if something went bad for them or myself and then the other is there like :S
I started travel dance trips 5 months into me working full time as a dancer.

I've traveled exclusively for 8 years now. But traveled on and off a long time ago too. I like to have someone with me. I've worked in pretty much every top club in every city so I know if the girl I bring will get hired. I haven't had an issue with that except once and she just worked at other clubs in the two places we went. But I have an extremely hard time sleeping and their is only one girl I can sleep in the same room with( ha she knows who she is). I've been lucky and traveled with around 15 or more girls and only had a problem once. No big deal. I like to have someone there for safety reasons and I like to have a girl I know to get for vip rooms since that's the bulk of my money. If I can't find someone I don't freak out anymore., I just go alone. But I'm experienced . I've had cab drivers not know where they were taking me and took me into bad areas and stuff. I had to get out of a cab and jump into another once. any ways it's very expensive to travel. So I would wait until you can at least pull in 5-1000. I have traveled with experienced girls who have a hard time adjusting to the nay places and enviroments of different establishments. I would wait until your a more esablished and experienced dancer but that's just my 2 cents and i've been doing ot forever.

I went to Guam the first time by myself. I don't think you need to be an experienced dancer to go venture on your own. You need to be responsible and about your money. I see too many girls getting wasted and fighting with all the other girls... Some are young and some are older. You'll be fine if you have common sense and your not an asshole and can get along with other females

Bottom line: make sure there's more similarities than differences.
Example: a buddy that I carpool with has broached the subject of traveling together. She's around my age, blonde, same height, works sober, small pudge like mine, reasonably sane and same work mentality as me. (I'm a tad meaner)

Well Guam they pay you and it doen't offer big earnings. if you go to NY ,Vegas, Dallas, any big city and aren't experinced you'll get eaten alive. it cost me 250 a night to stay in Ny minus cab fee and 200 house fees. Lol. If your not a top eatner don;t bother. You'll read all the girl bad experinces on here about traveling not making money and being stuck woth no money for hotel. So If your goung to a small hometown no but if your traveling i'd guess you're doing it to make money? No? You need experience...

I've traveled to many different cities and have only taken someone once. I seem to get annoyed with people after living and working with them for an extended period of time, especially if you are sharing living space. I have always been adventurous though, and travelling by myself doesn't bother me.

Like Michele11 mentioned, traveling costs are expensive, so you really have to weigh if your travel take home profits would be more than what you would have made at home.

There were two times where I would have made more money staying home (I worked in Vegas though). BUT, I didn't do my research those two times and the timing was bad.

I also agree with Michele11 with the fact that experience really does make a difference. Not everyone can adapt quickly to new situations. You really need to be a good hustler and even more so on the road!!!!! It also takes time to find the right club for you. It might take two or three different clubs before finding one you can make bank at. Keep that in consideration when factoring in how long you plan to be in the same city.

Every time I've traveled with someone (thrice) it's been a disaster. But I think the red flags were there from the jump lol. I'm still new though and I've only traveled where I can drive. But it's always a issue getting hired at the same place and people having the upfront money (lodging ect) plus I'm a planner. The girl I was traveling with would literally plan everything as she did it as in buying her ticket the day before then trying to get me to pick her up from the airport and drive her around (keep in mind when I originally would ask if she wanted to do the trip, her answer would be "idk we'll figure it out" only to tell me the day of her flight or the day before that she was coming). SMH. Not to mention this girl has told me in the past she was hired somewhere that she wasn't! Then we show up to the place neither one of us have jobs. I would love to travel with a serious ( beautiful & fit) girl but as of now my general feelings are eh lol.

I've mostly had really good experiences. I only had a problem with one lady. And so I ended the friendship. But I've also gone alone. Overall, I prefer to travel/work alone. But I'm also a very independent person. You could try both and see how you feel. But definately consider what Michele wrote. Don't go to NY or Vegas as a newbie.
