Thinking of doing it...I was reading that I should work in a low contact club, obviously I wouldn't let anyone touch a fresh piercing. Do you think it's better or worse to have pasties on them during healing?

Worse.

I would think they'd need to breath and not be restricted by something tight like a pasty. If you do dance with new nipple piercings just be like a hawk and ready to slap someone who tries to touch your piercing without permission.
“Cook for him like a housewife, fuck him good like a nympho….pay the rent and the car note, he invests in me like crypto”
It would be worse to cover them for long periods of time. They need to breathe. Even in low-contact clubs, it will be difficult to guard them, especially since they're a long-healing-period piercing for a lot of people. I tried to get a nipple piercing while I was stripping and had to take it out after 4 months because it never healed properly and rejected. I didn't even dance for the first 2 weeks I had it. Not that it's impossible to pull off - that was just my experience. I really want to get it redone but have pretty much decided that I won't even bother with it until I'm out of the adult industry, because I don't want to go through that painful healing/rejection period for nothing again.
If you get them, ask about barbells. A girl I danced with had them and told me that the piercer, knowing she was a dancer, did barbells because they heal easier. I had a ring. I don't know if it actually makes a difference, but something to look into.
Don't try to win over the haters. You are not the Jerk Whisperer.
Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
Yes please don't but pasties and especially not that latex paint on freshly pierced nipples, bad bad idea. They do need to breathe and they need to be cleaned a good 3-4 times a day for usually a few months or longer depending on how well they are healing.
When I got my nipples pierced I was actually told the opposite, that rings heal better than barbells. Barbells are best put in after you have had your piercing for long enough for them to completely heal because you can't completely clean all of the barbell where it is on the inside of your nipple, unlike rings where you can twist them around completely to make sure all of the gunk that builds up can be cleaned off. I think the piercer that told your friend that was probably thinking about her taking her clothes off and on so much each night and rings can get caught on things a little easier than barbells, but I was just always really careful and never had any issues with getting my rings snagged. I personally prefer rings, I think they look cuter and I always had issues with my balls falling off of my barbells. I had so many piercings fall out because I would lose the balls and it was so frustrating. I have had the pair of rings in that I am currenly wearing since January of 2012 and not one time have I lost a ball off of them or worried about it, if a ball happens to pop out then I won't be as worried about the whole ring coming out either because it is still secured in so much better than a straight bar.
