Default Anyone have luck with this lighting?

My current lighting arrangement sucks balls so I'm looking to upgrade. Found some studio lighting that looks like it might work just fine, but I wanted some opinions before I purchase. What do you think?

That's pretty much what I have (they look the same). Cheap, works great. Although I bought spares, the lightbulbs are still going strong after about a year!

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005FHZ2SI/...=IZ0I3G7HVYOXE <- have this set up, well my friend does and let's me us it :x It's nothing fancy but it works fine, nice, even lighting. Of course it takes time for you to figure out the right configuration of height and angles... but you eventually get it

In my private studio I just use clip-on lights with the cans, you can get them at Home Depot. I have two of them and then I use an overhead for my third point of lighting http://www.remodelista.com/files/img...amp-lamp-7.jpg

that being said, and not trying to be snarky, but there are A LOT of lighting threads with way more useful information then what I could give ya. Read them so long ago it's just part of my brain now If you have trouble with the SW search tool, use google and search "stripperweb lighting" studio lighting, camroom lighting, those terms actually might come up with more specific threads I know some threads exist with diagrams and shit, pretty amazing stuff!

It's probably best to have at least 2-point lighting (looks like the kit you linked only comes with one) so that you don't get funky looking shadows on cam.

I got this set https://www.kaezi.com/magento/index....ights-176.html and it works great!

Looks like the link that Crashing shared comes with more and is cheaper though, but if you don't have Prime's free 2-day shipping, the link I shared might work out to be cheaper since it's got free shipping. The kit I have doesn't come with the carry case and stuff which would come in really handy for putting it away discretely.

OP I have those lights and they work well. I use one on each side - behind the camera. My third light for three-point lighting is a lamp above and behind me.

This thread has great ideas: https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sh...endation/page3

Thanks for all the help everyone. n_n I'll admit to some laziness in not searching - I know there are massive lighting tutorial threads and I just wanted opinions on this specific one since most setups are outside of my budget. I have two floor lamps (one white/daylight and one warm/yellow), one on either side, providing some fairly faint and a bit too overhead 2 point lighting, so I'm planning on having this third one dead center behind my cam to just enhance everything.

Hopefully it works, I get an increased income, can save up and get some even better stuff! You guys are so helpful!! <3

I would recommend saving for more than one- but I understand not being able to- as I said, I have can lights in my room!
but yus, an umbrella light is a good investment- if you gotta get them one at a time then so be it right?

Exactly! Unfortunately I'm still in a situation of barely scraping by with rent and bills, no savings at all (even for taxes, yikes!).. but I'm sure it'll start turning around now that I'm investing more time and upgrading what little I can. n_n

I personally loathe the mercury filled CFL lights that these umbrella lights use. So bad for the environment. I use clamp lights, regular desk lamps and put LED bulbs in them. I also have LED bulbs in my overhead ceiling light and an LED task light. They all stay cool, take so little energy and because I use bulbs that are the equivalent of 75 watts, they are super bright, flattering, pure white light. You could also get just the umbrella stand and replace the CFL's with LED bulbs or get the pro LED photo studio lights.

If I ever get back into camming, I'm totally switching to LED's cuz those huge studio CFL's get soooo hot! Makes camming extra miserable in the summer.
