    Default Tweetdeck or Hootsuite or...?

Hi all - I was wondering what programme/PC application would be best for my needs? I just want to be able to schedule Twitter posts in advance, I don't really need it to do anything else for me at the mo. What prog would be the best?

    Thanks

Hi. I don't have any experience with Hootsuite, but I've been enjoying using Tweetdeck on my laptop. The thing I like about Tweetdeck is that it shows you ALL of the tweets you've received, including tweets from the Twitter users you don't follow. I didn't realize at first that with regular Twitter, if someone who you don't follow tweets you, you will not even see it (which I think is stupid, and I was surprised Twitter or no one else had ever mentioned this). I remember asking someone about it, and that's when they told me about Tweetdeck.

Why not try them both and see which one you prefer? I tried them both but end up going with hoot suite because their dashboard was easier on the eyes. I'm not sure if tweetdeck has changed but it used to be a dark gray and looked like it was from the 80's.

Hootsuite also has an app and a browser extension so it's quite versatile. They also have trainings and if you want to go further you can get their social media certification.

Another option is using IFTTT.com to automate your tweets. I find it easier and it's free. I wrote a tutorial on my site here: http://camconcierge.com/tutorial-aut...-tweets-ifttt/

I am obsessed with Hootsuite. I used it in an old vanilla job for social media stuff and still adore it. The free version does just about everything you could ever want.

Twuffer is my choice tbh. I used to run quite a few accounts and it's the most straight forward if you just need to add tweets. hootsuite had a ton of glitches (not posting tweets, posting them at the wrong time, posting large amounts all at once when they were suppose to be spread out, ect) a while back and I got frustrated so I haven't used it in years (3+). Maybe they've cleaned up their act by now, so it might be worth a try.

Just a heads up, if you're trying to schedule pictures or have tweets post from a different time zone than the one you have assigned your twitter account, I don't think any platforms allows you to do so anymore (If I'm wrong about the pictures, I'd desperately love to know of a platform that allows them to be scheduled!!!).

So if someone mentions me in a Tweet, if I don't follow them I don't see it?

Yeah, that was my experience when I used only Twitter, and didn't use Tweetdeck. When I started using Tweetdeck, I logged in and found tweets I didn't even know I had from people (people I wasn't following). You'd think Twitter would have a message up to explain this to people. That way, people tweeting you don't think you're ignoring them or something.

That's interesting, Vlodina. I'm not sure why it was never a problem for you, but always was for me??? It doesn't matter now though since I don't cam anymore.

I'm just telling you what my experience was. It really sucks to find out that people are trying to tweet you, and you can't even see it. Tweetdeck solved that problem for me.

There's an option to mute Twitter users you don't follow, but it can be unselected in settings so you do see them.
