It is actually illegal for him to kick you out if you've been living there more than 2 months. I would call the police on him, have him go to jail, and have the police assist you in finding somewhere to go. I was also homeless living out of motels a few years ago for a short time, but luckily I had already started at a good club, was making good money and had friends help me find an apartment. It IS possible to work your way out of that situation, but in this case, the ass hat should go to jail imo.

I planned on leaving by the end of may because it was going downhill and he kept harassing me and making jokes about raping me, but he found out early via my conversation with my friend in my car (which he tapped) and forced me to move out early. I chose to leave but not at this time, not like this, so does it still count as him kicking me out? My name was on the lease btw.

I am in sacramento, he's in la. Is it any use to tell the cops now? And which cops do i tell, the ones in LA? Both?

^Yes especially if your name was on the lease! He can't just kick you out of your own place! In fact if your name is on the lease and he's making threats, you could have HIM arrested and removed for being abusive.

Edited to add: I was in a situation overseas with my ex. We got in a fight and although he never hit me or anything, the police removed him and wouldn't let him come back until I submitted a statement saying that I felt safe and it was okay. You should definitely fight this.

I don't plan on going back to the place i had my lease with. but if i call the cops about this and get him arrested for kicking me out, i hope it will take me off the lease. i know the other way is to get a restraining order.

My initial plan was to find someplace in LA but now that I now he is this crazy, I jumped city and having a harder time.

I called the police at LA, they're not going to arrest him for kicking me out with threats. Ugh useless.

I think a temporary restraining order to break my part of the lease would be the best bet.

I am going to call clubs for auditions and try new clubs every night while I stay at the motel. Starting tonight.

Wish I can just sleep in the car but I never knew that sac was this unfriendly to car dwellers. Ugh

Thanks for the link whirlez, I've seen it already. ^^ I wonder if it still applies to 2015

Yes, more & more places are: I'd say more so in CA cause it's big/more homeless ppl. In IL, where I am, there are many parking restrictions, even in store lots b/c of this.
    Good Luck Hun!

I found a hostel in Sacramento that charges $30 a night to live in a dorm, if you're trying to minimize your expenses.

I hope everything works out okay for you.

It may seem like a motel is a temporary solution but let me tell you, the longer you stay the harder it will be to get a place. Living at a motel will be soooo expensive. You HAVE to eat out 3 times a day Try to get a room anywhere. If its just you, try to find some places that rent to students or things like that. Im sorry youre going through this. You sound really afraid of him. Has he ever hit you? Omg. Please dont let the police tell you your fears arent justified etc. Trust your instincts and work your ass off. Since motels have internet, have you thought about camming?

Thank you *hug* I have totally forgotten about hostels while searching for a place to stay at 3 in the morning after driving 7 hours on no sleep. Not to mention being followed/chased out of parking areas by the security.

He never hit me, but he pretty much did everything else. He often held it over me too, "but I never hit you". I see it as being only a matter of time until he does physical things because he punches walls and does other forceful things and I am not gonna wait.

I don't know how I would press charges because the popo isnt cooperative but hope I am able to file an temporary RO here in Sac and still get someone to serve it to him back in LA.

I don't plan on staying at a motel long, I hope they don't mind me sleeping in a car if I pay for overnight parking at the airport. I can get Internet, shower, etc just fine, the hard part is having a place to sleep. I wouldn't cam tbh, I feel like once its out there, it's out there. At least with dancing its not recorded.

Even if he was legally in the wrong there was probably good reason for you to want to move out. I don't think it would be safe at this point to stay with him.

Just following up on points about your name being on the lease ...

    A. your ex does NOT have a legal right to force you to move out. Only the landlord can do that.

    B. if your ex decides to stop making lease payments ( because he can no longer afford them, or for any other reason ), the landlord can come after YOU to collect ... can trash YOUR credit rating, etc. ... even though you have moved out.

As soon as you can become 'established' somewhere, it is highly recommended that you contact your old landlord ... explain the situation ... and attempt to work out some sort of mutual arrangement.

I rented a room & it was pure hell, every bit as bad as what OP's describing & worse. Not only way I scared of them, they kept me awake constantly, threw my food away & they were doing sketchy crap & the cops were there once. I had to call them myself before they locked me out & were gonna take & keep my stuff. People sound/act really nice until you move in w/them. Motels/hotels have crappy internet, she can give it try camming, not sure how it would be.
    Anyway, Rose, good
Also, here where I live AirBnb is every bit as much as a hotel, & again you don't know what you're getting into

Hey girls, I found a place to rent today. It was originally beyond my budget but the landlady was willing to work with me and put it down a couple bucks in return of some housework because shes old. Its still more expensive than i wish, but its fine because its a good location for everything i need. She's really friendly and nice, but seems strict in an old fashioned way. She's religious and doesn't allow sex, drugs, or alcohol in the house which I think is understandable and definitely make me feel safer, but I hope its not a guarantee that she will be judgy or get cold. She mentioned something about trying to keep her house safe and moral lol. She doesnt care what i do outside the house, just not inside the house because she had problems with tenants who used drugs, were drunk, or banged loudly. Its so funny, she won't know I am actually a dancer lmao. At least it is month to month so if I have any problems, I can leave early.

^ I'm glad you found someplace reliable and safe! I was about to post that the PCH has a few spots where you could park and sleep as a last resort. Obviously your rental is much better.

If possible, you should still file for a restraining order. I had a violent, angry ex that I lived with and I too had to move out because he was threatening me. I regret not getting the restraining order because he continued harassing me even after I was far away from him. Stay safe and be well!

LE is really intolerant of car dwellers due to the homeless problem up there & auto theft.

Glad you found a place. The clubs in Sac can be okay-ish if you apply yourself. Right now is bachelor party season so if you call some agencies you can do a couple of those and put some money in your pocket. Good luck & glad you got away from that evil ex.

PS if you are willing to commute, you can dance in SF and live in Sac or the Valley.

I heard that Sac is dead when it comes to stripping, does this count Rancho Cordova too?

Reno was part of my plan until I heard you need business license to dance there. Does anyone know if SF and Tahoe (Californian side) need licensing?

^ Reno you def need a license but most of the clubs there will give you a week or more (depending on the mngr) to get one. I'm in the santa cruz area & I'm about to start commuting up to SF to work bc SJ ain't cutting it anymore & with me still homeless with few options, I need all the help I can fast :/ Where along the PCH can you park overnight without getting hassled by cops & thieves? I stayed at the SC hostel last week & my car got broken into & they took ALL my work stuff including ALL my makeup & all my other toiletries I'm soooo not parking over there again.

If you want to do something other than dance, I read that cocktail waitresses at casinos can make good money.
