Default Stressed all the time. what to do?

There may already be a thread about this but I'm too tired and stressed to to a search. lol. Every thing stresses me. Doing research. Going to the grocery, driving. I just can't not be stressed. i wish I had personalities like some of my girlfriends. They are easy going, nothing bothers them. I can't meditate. I don't know what to do. i know it will be my demise. The only time I'm really not stressed is at work odly. Any suggestions? Thanks.

We might've talked about this before, but have you ever tried talk therapy? I know you've tried different medications already, maybe talking it out with someone would help? It can be a little trial and error to find one you click with, but I've had REALLY good experiences talking to a good therapist.

I would talk to a professional if that's a possibility for you. Especially if this is getting in the way of you being able to work and function normally. Restlessness and anxiety can be symptoms of PTSD, and PTSD is common in this industry.

If you can't meditate and don't know what to do with yourself (anxiety symptoms), try throwing on a Disney / Pixar movie and focus on that. Watch cute kitten videos on youtube. Stuff like that.

I know you've been dealing with medication changes. Do you think a lot of your feelings could be coming from titrating off of one medication and onto another?

I so understand you. I ordered "CALM" magnesium on amazon. I read a lot of good things about it. Kind of leaves you calm and well rested. Also you can try to buy tulsi tea, you can read more about it.
Try to see if your food may cause you an inflammation?
Also good to try cognetive theraphy
I will bring links which i find usefull.

Im so ashamed to say but, i read novels, harlequin ones. I guess they work on my brain like a porn for men, stimmulatin something. I dunno they make me feel better hahah.

It was in the social anxiety thread where I talked about how it's been getting for me. Even if I'm not in a particularly stressful situation, my stomach is in knots, I'm short of breath, and my heart pounds until my chest hurts.

I've been on a whole list of medications, and have recently switched from Xanax to Klonopin. I don't think it's made much of a difference. I also recently switched therapists, which I'm beginning to think may have been a mistake. Venting helps though, and a support group is a really good way to do that for free.

I can't meditate, either, although I keep meaning to give it a serious try. I also thought I'd learn to juggle (seriously), but lack the necessary focus and coordination. I wrote out a list of various things to do when the anxiety gets really high, because I can't remember any of it when it does. It has things like relaxing music (Pandora is good for this), chamomile tea, playing a game (recently back into Plants vs Zombies 2), going for a walk, or reading (it can be very hard to focus at first and I really have to force myself through a few pages).

Exercise is the best thing for me. I do an hour on the elliptical six days a week. Another great thing is going to the park. There are a few nearby; one is a very tranquil lake with a great view of the state capitol building, and the another is this sort of winding maze with waterfalls. My favorite is the one right by my hometown. It's densely shaded and has a dog park. But the best part is the squirrels. I watch them romp about and scurry up the trees and give them peanuts. Sometimes they'll come up very close and even take a peanut from my hand. And I actually feel at peace, just for a little while.

Also if someone straggles with sleep try this app, calling "sleep genius" for me it did not worked. But it helped me fall asleep.I woke up in the middle of the night to turn it off. Maybe i have mental blocks against sound while sleeping. I personaly think it must be calm while i sleep, natural sounds fine.. But overoll people say this app is good.

About playing games....i feel like i get even more stressed while i play zombies vs plants. I p,ayed another game " hayday" and left me literaly like a vegetable,i even lost concentration and cut myself badly while cooking. I had really bad concentration, i could not speak any language. For couple of days i was a mess. I find computer highly addictive, and distractive!
Personaly i would suggest reading good quality books. I like to read literature from 1800-1900. Also math, you dont have to do algebra or trigonometry just do simple.

I take a magnesium supplement but I think it may be the wrong kind at too low of a dosage. I've read that it should be "chelated" magnesium in order to have the best effect.

Thanks everyone. it doesn't help that I bought a kitten with constant eye ulcers and been dealing with that and the breeder and i was just told the Hoa my rental property is in can't be rented out anymore. it's a huge source of income and It's been a nightmare. but no i've always been super stressed. my mind always thinks the worst will happen. All this stuff basically happened after I got really bad with the depression so that's adding. I know have to be in a fight for the right to rent a property I'm the original builder. When some asshole who's lived there 8 years ( because no one wants to be on the board) decided this because his block is an issue. it's so tiring always having to be the boss. I'm single and acquired everything on my own. even when I was with mt Fiance I dealt with everything. It's too much. I haven't even recouped the 15,000 I put into the property after my last tenants before the recent ones destroyed it. I haven't recovered from the stress of that. But I've always been high stressed because failure is not a word in my book. idk. i'm rambling know and am more stressed. thanks for all the replies. i'll look into some suggestions.

Well, can you maybe take a tax loss on the property after it's all said & done, as a last resort? They sound like a-holes to me.

I was just reading the Las Vegas thread where you say you travel all the time - that must be somewhat stressful; travel in itself is great but our society is focused sedentary people. Maybe (just trying to help here) you and the kitten would benefit from a period where you live in one place?

^ I do live in one place. I travel every 4-6 weeks for 8 days. I only work about 100 shifts a year at most. I'm also off about 3 months a year as well. And i was like this all my life.

When I get stressed I must get moving like physically active. I have to run till I can't run anymore. Or I do sauna therapy 3 times a week - that melts the stress away.

I'm sorry, Michele. I'm the same as you, always stressed.

Have you tried smoking weed? It always calms my nerves.

(I know some peeps on this board are anti-weed. I just thought I'd offer the suggestion anyway. I only smoke it when I absolutely have to. I don't smoke to get high, only for medicinal purposes.)

Many of my clients, including a couple who work as dancers, use my services as a hypnotist for stress relief. Hypnosis helps to calm your mind and body down immediately, and it can be used to remove some of the triggers that cause the stress in the first place.

There are all sorts of aspects to stress relief through hypnosis, if you want to know more, let me know and I can elaborate.

Hahaha I was going to say I do that to relieve stress but im glad you mentioned it first.

When I am super stressed, a few puffs and my worries are lifted. At least temporarily and I can get a better handle on what I need to do to eliminate the stress.

Only downside is I have tried weed while on antidepressants and personally would not recommend it. If you do try it only do a small amount.

Actually yes. I smoked it a few times in my 20's and had a bad experince and when I broke my wrist fast forward 20 years I tried to see if it would help with the pain. I hated it. It wasn't like the old days where I'd be all giggly. I just felt like my eyes swelled up and my throat. My sister got mad and said i was a buzz kill. I couldn't concentrate on any movie we tried to watch. I wanted to go home but i knew I couldn't drive and it made my pain worse. I did try again because she had a different kind and same thing. I'm a germaphobe so I smoked it out of a one hitter. Idk if that makes a difference? My ex use to smoke it all the time and would tell me that's what I need but never did it then. Idk. maybe it's because i'm on antidepressants but my sister takes all kinds of shit and loves weed.

Have you tried yoga? There are a lot of different types of yoga, so you might find one you enjoy. I get stressed easily and I find that yoga helps to relax me. Really any exercise can help, but I think yoga especially helps with anxiety/stress.

Therapy and a self care routine you stick to ( this is speaking from experience ).
Also, for me, to do lists are crucial. They free up my mind and reduce the " what did I forget this week " panic.

2nd-ing 'to do' lists & maintaining small, easy-to-accomplish goals. The act of listing in itself is sm what relaxing bc it lets you see yourself controlling what needs to get done, & can also make it easier to prioritise. Seeing each thing get crossed off that list as it gets accomplished, gives you a visual of the progress you're making & helps build/maintain momentum. Small goals let everything following the 'two or three absolutely crucial things that will throw the earth off its axis if they don't get done today goddammit!' objectives, feel like a bonus.

There is also a CD I used to play every nite called BrainSync. It's meant to be played as you're falling asleep.

It's understandable wondering if you could be hypnotized without ever doing it before, but just about everyone can be!

Stress is a mental thing that manifests itself into a physical thing. With hypnosis, you're basically blocking the mental part from ever taking place. You'd be blanking out the stress but still experience what is causing it, it just won't give you the mental or physical symptoms anymore. For my clients at least, this makes it much easier for them to tackle what is causing it in the first place, without worrying about how it will affect their well-being.

I can PM you a couple of videos I'd recommend if you (or anyone) would like.

I think these are really good ideas for you. I know it's WAY easier said than done with some other issues you've got going on, but I think a to-do list of easy tasks around the house might be good for you. I think it'll help keep you busy and occupy your mind a little bit, help you feel productive, and it will help get you moving and get your blood pumping a little.

When I was on my vacation recently I was walking EVERYWHERE, and I think it really did wonders for my mood and energy level. Florida weather isn't always as comfortable to go walking in but maybe you could go in the early evening when it's not so hot out?
