    Default DID IT! Now, IRS/ULDP??

So I actually had my first night last night ... YAY! I didn't chicken out and wasn't as nervous as I thought. My first customer bought 4 lap dances and tipped me an extra 20 !

So I know there are a lot of taxes questions but I haven't seen this one... I'm working for a lap dance party type of thing in NYC, not a strip club. I signed a contract saying I am an independent contractor responsible for reporting my income to the IRS, but they didn't take my social. So, do I ACTUALLY have to report that I work there/my tips? If I don't keep large suspicious amounts of money in my back account how would anyone ever know?

Youre better off reporting the income even if its not on paper / no 1099 issued. IRS will know based on your purchases - like your cash isnt going to be lying around, you will be spending it at various merchants / stores. Most times when you make a purchase, even with cash, they are collecting your personal data like email or phone number and connecting you to the purchase. There is also a thread on how merchants also collect your personal data when you purchase money orders and gift cards I believe over $500.

Just stay on the right side of the law and you wont have any headaches later down the road.

I've only ever worked where I've had employers issue my tax docs to me... So if I wanna report my tips for an "off the books" job like this, do I have to say where I worked? Rather not have the name of anything related to stripping on my official docs...

There is an entire subforum for this, with at least tens of identical threads. Main page...scroll down.

No you don't have to say exactly where you work. Find an accountant who works with other strippers to help you out. Melonie contributed lots of info to previous threads on this similar question.
