Default Traveling from LA (or Southwest) to Vegas

I'm considering dancing in Vegas sometime this year and I'm brainstorming the logistics right now. It's only about a four hour drive away and I love having my car, so I'm trying to figure out how practical that would be. What kind of experiences have any of you had with "commuting" to Vegas? Is it better to drive, or to fly and get around by taxi? Is it a pain in the ass or a convenience to have your own car with you?

Any input appreciated. Feel free to PM me if you prefer. Thanks ladies!

The drive from LA isn't that bad. It is ugly though. I would take your car to the mechanic and have it serviced before you go because you do not want to break down when it is this hot in the desert. Also, beware of traveling on holidays. I drove Vegas to LA on Memorial Day and it took an extra 2 hours because of all the traffic on the 15. It was seriously a nightmare. I like to do the drive at night. It seems to go by faster.

It's definitely a convenience to have a car in Vegas. You never know where you may need to go and taxis are only good if you're casino hopping. Take the drive.

Also, there is no Uber in Vegas so if you do not have your car, you will need to rely on cabs.

It might be worth it to get the AAA PLUS membership that allows towing up to 100 miles. Just for peace of mind. It's very affordable and lasts for a year.

My sense of Vegas (I've been there a couple of times) is that it's quite spread out unless you're staying directly on the strip or similar. If you'll be staying in an airbnb close to one of the clubs, or a hotel/motel that's not in a super busy area, you should be totally fine. I think it's 100% worth it to have your car with you. You'll be able to get groceries (a huge deal considering there are basically zero grocery options around the big hotels / casinos - you need to drive out a bit to find anything decent), drive yourself to work without having to worry about creepy cab drivers, make random trips out to get your license and whatnot without worrying about having to pay for a ride on top of everything else...

I would definitely take your car. You won't be able to walk to the club. Cabs seem to be jacked up in price there IME, I remember paying $8 (so $10 with a tip) to go literally 2 hotels down on the strip.

I've always preferred driving to flying from LA. I actually kind of enjoy the drive out to Vegas but driving home on a Sunday is hell. I usually wait until Monday so I don't get stuck in the 15 S traffic jam. A car is nice to have in Vegas if you need to run errands off the strip. I usually will taxi from the hotel to the club though (I stay at Palace Station...to both SR and Sapphire it's less than $10).
