Default Thinking about starting to pay taxes... what job title to use?

hi guys! so i've been supporting myself doing body rubs for a few years now and haven't reported any income. it just didn't seem fun and i didn't want to! but lately an issue came up and long story short i'm considering starting to pay taxes because for one thing i'm scared of getting caught one day and also it would be nice to be legit so i have the option to make big purchases like maybe buying a house one day etc...

so my questions are: have any of you run into tax troubles/tax evasion troubles before? and also what occupation do you list on your tax returns for escorting or body rub work?

    thanks guys!!

ENTERTAINER is best in an illegal country and a legal one- I dont know where you are based but its best for privacy anyway.
You could be a face painting fairy for all anyone knows with that kind of label.
Do not lie, it is never a good idea.

I went voulintarily tax compliant and it was the best decision I ever made, dont wait to get caught before you do it.
It is not as hard as it seems and if you find the right support through your accountant it will be easy az.

*Get an accountant DO NOT do your own taxes. I ts worth the extra cost trust me.
*Get a card and put all expenses through the card with the correct reciepts.
*claim what you can but do not go overboard, it attracts bad attention when you are trying to claim random stuff. (your accountant will advise)
*set up a LLC so you can pay yourself a wage and the business covers costs, this will help create a better nest egg.

I cannot stress enough to get a good accountant and you will be absoloutely fine hun

    xx

    I second "entertainer".

www.taxdomme.com is someone who is excellent. Awhile ago I had to use her to file years of back taxes. I felt like a big weight had been lifted off my back after I did it. She is awesome.

Also, you may want to post this in dollar den. Melonie may have some other advice on what you could say your occupation is.

thanks so much guys! was it just a decision you made to pay your taxes so you didn't have to worry about such financial legal problems anymore and didn't have to feel like you were looking over your shoulder?

What everyone already said. I was a shot girl and a dancer. Entertainer has always been the title I've used.
Claim all biz related expenses *if you have receipts*! If you don't, start saving them now. I keep my receipts in a folder and save even after taxes are done for years in case of an audit. I have never run into any problems, but I also hire an accountant who knows what he's doing.
I agree with hiring a professional and being honest.
Filing taxes are the best thing you can do even though it's not fun and costs $.
    Good luck!

I wanted to be able to make deposits in my bank account and know that my money is secure. Keeping thousands at home is never a good idea, neither is spending all your money, and tax evasion is illegal.

I had a vanilla job but for the past two years, sex work has been my main source of income. To pay for my tuition, rent, bills, obviously I must declare my income and pay my taxes.

@blondieheidi. I wanted to make sure I paid taxes for the following resons.

*Property ownership was my focus from the start.
*benefits from tax compliance are numerous
*with our income we are a dream to many other useful business opportunities however if you have nothing to show for your wage you cant play the game.
*savings account in cash safely in the bank is a wonderful peace of mind

I reall could go on and on but you catch my drift

When I danced, my accountant set me up as an Event Hostess as it made sense for the facility I worked at. It worked out great as I was able to move into a civilian career in the Event Management field.

I put down entertainment on my tax return and said I dressed up as different characters for kids birthday parties and worked in theater. It was less awkward talking to my accountant about it, and when people asked "what kind of entertainment?" it was a more respectable answer.

There are woman that make a living now at Cosplay, dressing up as comic and movie characters. "Cosplay Model" may not be a bad cover story. This would also allow you to claim costumes as a work expense.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that they have to be very careful what they put down as their job title. You need to use a job title that will reflect all of the deductions you take on your taxes. For instance, I've been a phone sex operator for 16 years. If I told the IRS I did kid's birthday parties (as a clown) or that I was a fiction writer... I would not be able to deduct all of my phone expenses for my toll-free lines (which is a huge expense), my yearly domain registrations (and I have over 100 sites), my hosting, my advertising costs, etc. If I tried to deduct all of those, while saying I dressed up for kid's birthday parties... then all sorts of red flags would go up. So be careful.
