Default Afraid to go back to work.

My friend has a criminal record and was accused of following a dancer home from work and robbing her. 2 days later I find out the cops tracked her down and arrested

I REALLY don't think my friend did it, because she always tells me about her plans/heists/missions. Not to mention, the dancer that was robbed is literally like the sweetest girl ever.

EITHER WAY, because she's my friend all the dancers at the club are furious at me, thinking I was involved. There's only maybe 30 day and night shift girls combined, so everyone knows everyone's business. When I showed up for work, I walk in the dressing room to girls screaming and threatening to beat the shit out of me. Management assured they won't touch me, but the entire night I got girls cutting off my hustle and telling customers bs lies about me. I can ignore dirty looks, but not them interfering with my money.

've seen maybe 10 of the 30 girls so far and I really don't want to show up until this blows over... I have text proof my friend was innocent, and her hotel has security cameras that could've tracked her coming home at the time of the robbery, but her record has her guilty until proven otherwise. Obviously a legitimate case about this won't be for weeks, and I can't wait that long to work. I just moved out and need to make money...

The girl it happened to isn't even mad, from what I heard. It's just everyone else trippin out, and I can't work with that. Even just being around all that negative energy can hurt my night. How long should I wait to go back, or what should I do? There's no other clean clubs in my area to go in the meantime, this is my only option right now.

Your friend should hire a good lawyer then to clear her name. There is no reason to have charges her record for something she allegedly didn't do.

Next perhaps talk to the manager again. And zero in on the ones who are trash talking to customers. Let managers know exactly who is verbally harassing you and you'd like it to stop. That's none of their business and no one should be talking to customers about negative stuff / stuff they know nothing about / other dancers. That's ruining the customer experience and sensible managers don't like that.

    Maybe you can change shifts.

All else fails travel dance or look for another source of income

Well, if you stay away, it may make you look even more guilty (even though you're not), not to mention the loss of $..

We are judged by the company we keep. Even if the mgmt at your current club can get a handle on the other girls' behaviour, that won't change their opinion of you, & they may well find more subtle ways to fk w/ you, or take it outside of work to fk w/ you in ways that mgmt can't control.

I would find another club, & either completely end my 'friendship' w/ this chick or keep it absolutely separate from my work situation.

Sad but true. From a club manager's selfish viewpoint, the OP could easily be viewed as a 'troublemaker' if nothing else. Also from a club manager's lazy viewpoint, getting rid of the OP thus losing 1 dancer out of 30 would require little effort or loss to the club, but would remove the 'drama' from the dressing room without pissing off the 29 remaining dancers.

I have to agree with Aniela that this ... regardless of anyone's actual guilt or innocence ... this 'incident' is unlikely to be rectified or forgotten by management and dancers at your current club. As such, you may want to simply 'cut your losses' and start looking for a different club asap.

I agree, I think its best to start looking for work at different clubs. Dancers and club management have a notorious tendency to hold grudges and point fingers, no matter what the reality of the situation is. Trust me, it will only get worse. You dont want to find out the hard way what they are capable of doing out of anger. Find another job and keep all of this drama out of your new work. Get a fresh new start. You could continue your friendship with the girl accused, but I would suggest it be outside of your work in case anyone finds out.

Fuck the friend (tho she was my best 6 years ago), her and I inconsistently talk. The only reason I've heard from her lately is because I got her in at this club.

I just bought a place in the metro Detroit area and the nearest clean club (Besides mine) is downtown, and I'm not doing that drive, nor do I want to renew my dance card. This is my one option I have to make work.

I make money EVERY night I work and pay full tipout as early as possible. I don't start any drama and am very straight-up with management. They understand it had nothing to do with me, seeing as how the cops haven't contacted me (which was literally their only concern). All they care about is me not making the club look bad. When the girls were giving me a hard time, they were begging me to stay when I couldn't handle it. Management is taking it incredibly well, which gives me hope. I'll def try singling out the main problem girls when I go back and letting them know.

The good news, of course, is that you're still able to earn decent money every night at this club ... even though some of the club's dancers have been 'working against you'. The second good news is that club management made an active effort to get you to stay at this club. The combination of these two factors means that you will be able to 'survive' at this club, despite the mindset / actions of other dancers.

However, the fact that you are geographically 'locked in' to work at this one particular club is certainly a negative. This takes away the option of simply 'walking away' from this incident and it's lingering effect on other dancers in this club. This also makes you both a constant reminder, as well as an easy to locate potential target, for other dancers ( and their friends ). IMHO being geographically 'locked in' to only working at one particular club is a major risk factor ... but given your real estate investment, it is what it is.

But time does have a way of taking the edge off all edgy situations. You have already 'survived' the initial incident. Time passing without you're being approached by local LE at least provides some sort of circumstantial evidence that you had no personal involvement in the initial incident. Time passing without other dancers ( or their friend ) taking direct actions against you ( inside or outside the club ) makes it less and less likely that they will ever do so.

While things may never be able to totally return to the way they used to be, at this point it would appear that things will remain 'tolerable'. But don't stop 'watching your back' ... and hope that club management will continue to 'watch your back' as well.
