    Default Late night bloating

Does anyone else have this problem? I'm back to working 10pm-4am and around 1 or 2am I get extremely bloated and gassy. It's horrible. I feel so uncomfortable for the rest of the night and I look 4 months pregnant. I will purposely avoid customers so I don't have to dance because I feel so uncomfortable. Anyone know what causes this or how to fix it?

You should see a doctor or at least web md that.

I can suggest peppermint tea, fresh ginger and candies to help reduce the bloating/pain. I suspect a irritable bowel issue, but I'm no doctor.

Yes, you need to see a gastroenterologist, they specialize in treating digestive probs. I do have IBS & I see one. For me, I started laying off fried stuff, dairy (I eat plain yogurt), pizza, stuff like that. Try not to eat a big giant meal, eat smaller meals throughout the day.
Every morning I peel & eat a fresh grapefruit, it helps. The bloating c/b air, not always liquid

I usually don't eat while I'm there. I bring granola bars but I rarely eat them..just don't feel hungry at work..I probably do need to drink more water...maybe that's what's wrong

I recently bought some large oranges and some really small grapefruit, and we couldn't tell them apart, and wound up cutting the grapefruit up like oranges, and decided they are better that way.

I have the same issue. I think alot of times it has to do with if you are drinking at work. Another thing is that usually during our shifts since we are around customers we try to hold in our farts and burps. By the end of the night we look bloated because we haven't let any of it out. I think that's also why fights always happen towards the end of the night. Girls have so much tension built up from simply not being able to fart that they take it out on each other.

^ haha!! yeah i've had that happen. and yeah if you're doing mixed drinks or shots it can cause serious strain on your tummy, its given me killer cramps. eating out can also cause bloating but you say you don't eat at work so maybe its just the lack of liquid ( dancing can seriously dehydrate you) or something you ate before hand. i think there are anti-bloat pills but i guess just concentrate on eating super healthy the day before and the day you work and drink loads of water!

See a doctor who knows his or her nutrition along with allergy and inflammatory issues. It could be dozens of things. That it happens at the end of the day is a hint that you might be eating/drinking something during the day that is creating the issue for you.
To hold you until you can see a doctor decaffeinate yourself. Totally. Caffeine can cause serious GI irritation and generate gas production. Avoid diet sodas , sugar , dairy , hydrogenated fats and other inflammatory foods. Take turmeric, kelp and eat blueberries , watermelon , wild caught salmon , decaffeinated green tea and other anti-inflammatory foods.

oh lord I don't know if I can live without coffee....I turn into a raging bitch if I don't have it when I get up. my diet is actually pretty healthy. I cook almost all my food at home and eat fruits, vegetables, meat and rice. I make a lot of japanese and filipino food. i will definitely try drinking green tea right before work and maybe bring some berries or something to work. I know I don't drink enough water...I'm really starting to think that may be it. I just hate going to the doctor so I hope it doesn't come to that. :/ thanks for your help

Go Vegan! (hehe, sorry couldn't resist.)

True story though, I used to have terrible IBS until I went vegan in 2005. As soon as I dropped meat and dairy, my IBS, bloating, and stomach aches were GONE!

If you need to have your coffee/ caffeine during the day I would say try and do so before the shift. On your next shift, have nothing but small sips of water. If it's really necessary, you can always eat after work. It could alcohol, what are u usually drinking at work? It sounds strange, but maybe you need to make time to have a long toilet break while you work to get rid if some if that gas? Also you mentioned you don't like going to the doctor, if this problem is effecting your money and your ability to perform at work, it may be worth sucking it up and going to find out what is making your tummy bloat so badly. Maybe giving up drinking all together might be the answer. OR limiting drinks to 3-4 a night and making it only vodka, lime and water- that's what I used to drink for low sugar drinks- now I don't drink at all.

All the above. In the meantime; charcoal tabs- I also find lying on my tummy in the changeroom to help me expel gas helps (it takes a little while but it honestly works).

I've been having this problem for months and it's so annoying and embarrassing. My stomach hurts every single day almost all day, constipation, gas, bloating. It gets worse in the evening and at night, it's so difficult when I have to work through the pain. My sex life have been suffering, I barely have sex anymore because my stomach hurts so much all the time. My stomach hurts after every meal, even when I just eat an apple!

I went to see the doctor three times already, done an X-ray that came out normal. Tried Lax-a-day which didn't help but made my stomach hurt even more... I'm currently taking Metamucil until I see my doctor on Monday for the results of my blood tests. It helps with the constipation but I still have extreme cramps and stomach pain ... One of my friends thought I might have developped a lactose intolerance but even with Lactaids and Lactose-free milk my symptoms remain.

I am reading about IBS and how Accutane have been linked to an increase of IBS, saw lawsuits against the company... One patient who developped IBS after taking Accutane got $25 million. I've always had a sensitive stomach but never that bad, only during exams period and when I'm really stressed out. It's been almost 5 months, Accutane cleared my skin and I am really happy but I hope I did not develop a chronic disease because of it... the symptoms started in the middle of my treatment and have worsened since...

I eat healthy, eat a lot of fruits and drink plenty of water, I even stopped drinking coffee and espresso. I exercise, I really don't understand... I am thinking of taking an appointment with a gastroenterologist soon.

I really hope you get better soon...

thanks everyone. I think not eating for long periods of time and not drinking enough water was the culprit. Last night I made sure to drink water throughout the night and forced myself to eat a snack around 1am. That actually helped a lot. I think my stomach starts eating itself when I've gone 6-8 hours with no food and that's when the trouble starts.
