Default Undercover police raid in my apartment building today

15 police officers were there and 2 were there since 10am standing outside, observing, and sitting inside the lobby in street clothes. Some were in uniform, some street clothes, and others just had badges with a suit on. I was going downstairs to the grocery store and heard one of them say We Got Him when I stepped in the lobby. I could've had a heart attack. I thought it was for me. I escort in my apartment but I didn't have clients today. I came back from running more errands 3 times just to check if that was just for another person. Still the same 2 undercover guys were sitting in the lobby after that incident. I worry like no other but these undercover guys were sitting downstairs for hours. Can cops do an undercover raid like that for a single girl working in her apartment or am I being paranoid. What would it take for them to do a raid like that for 1 escort or do they just have to catch you in the act with a client? There is cameras in the lobby so I could see that being good evidence. I have an appointment for tomorrow and I don't feel safe anymore working in my apartment.

    I'd see that appointment elsewhere.

& They usually have a few LE working together on stings.

I scheduled the appointment for 9am tomorrow morning. I've been living in this apartment for like 5 months so wouldn't they have tried to kick me out of the building first instead of sending in cops? If they were there for me then why didn't they just go on up to my room or do they have to catch you in the act or in the middle of the appointment or simply video footage from security cameras?

Don't .... Go with your gut. Or at least wait a while till you feel comfortable. And take extra precautions. The camera thing could work to your disadvantage as proof of any wrongdoings I would avoid the camera if I was you.

You never know, they could be on a mission if it's "quota" time.

Maybe you can inquire with the apartment manager. If the guy was tracked down by police from their own independent investigation I wouldn't worry as much as I would if neighbors reported something. Neighborhood watching, even in apartments, would make me panic if I was seeing clients in the apartment.

Do NOT do your appointment at your apartment tomorrow! You don't want to take ANY chances. I would suggest doing it at a hotel a few towns away even. You should do your business there until this all clears up. Also, did you screen your appointment? Make sure he's not a cop because if the cops are running a sting on you, one of them might be an undercover posing as a client. Take all precautions to be safe and protect yourself. It'll be worth it!

You guys are right. I'm not feeling safe at my apartment right now so I'm trying to reschedule the appointment for later in the day and get a hotel. Thanks.

I just asked and they said it was just an investigation and he didn't think anyone was taken away. Then why would the officer say We got him! I'm going to be paranoid the rest of my lease here. Does anyone know if they actually do massive raids like this or the laws surrounding this for escorts working in apartment buildings? I thought raids were mostly for agencies.

I am not sure how high volume you are, but if one of your neighbors sees a lot of clients going in and out of your apartment they could report you. That is how a lot of people get in trouble.

oh man, so scary. stick to your gut feeling and do what you need to do to protect yourself. in this industry, that gut feeling really is all we have once everything has been said and done. it may be nothing, but you're better off being a little cautious.
google this: "your city name" and "police blotter" to see if there have been any reported arrests or complaints in your area. also, your local police department actually reports their day to day dealings with complaints & crimes to this website:

I just heard a person speaking with the manager on my floor saying he wasn't cooperating with the investigation. I need to get the fuck out of here obviously or at least find a hotel with guaranteed early morning check in. I have a feeling this investigation has been going on for a long time because I have seen the 2 same exact undercover cops before in my lobby or outside the building just sitting and watching but never like they were waiting for someone. I always found that weird. But nothing like an entire team of them like yesterday. What does it really take to accuse someone of prostitution other than a camera in the lobby showing video of guys going in the elevator? I put in my 60 days notice for my lease that's ending in 2 months yesterday.

Is there any way you could end your lease early? Say sorry but with all the cops around I don't feel comfortable living here. I don't want to live somewhere with crime going on. If you are able to get a new place, try to stick to working in hotels.

stay out of the county while working for now. i spoke with a lawyer a few months ago who recommended that i stay out of certain counties when escorting because some counties have stricter LE than others. your area must have a bored LE unit, and / or a nosy manager who probably reported you. call a lawyer and ask for a free consultation, if you're worried about a lawyer coming onto you- contact a young female lawyer. next time, try to find a unit that doesn't have cameras- since your neighors obviously didn't tip off LE, your manager must have probably noticed that the surveilance tapes revealed something going on on your floor. they may be waiting around until your clients leave and then interviewing them, scaring them into ratting you out and then letting them go. they may try to send an undercover policeman through your screening process, or try to turn one of your regulars. also, it's probably safe to say that they're monitoring your internet usage- it might be a good idea to stop escorting entirely for just a few months until their interest dies down. imho, tl;dr

I just checked the police blotter and it looks like only major crimes are reported.

If your apartment manager was spying on your Wifi usage with devices, they might have an idea of your escorting. (BTW my landlord did that, I was so pissed off, but I had made the mistake of using the apartment free Wifi. So be warned about that.)

They might have been busting someone involved with illegal underage activity online. Or narcotics.

But anyhow, best you move and be more careful so you don't have these worries in the future.

Good call, just remember how much of your work profits get stolen by the government and the suffering the police cause if you make a mistake. One mistake can wipe out months of work, so I have to agree with the crowd, its not worth it to go against your instincts. Your instinct is your experience and intellect crying out for attention. So pay attention to these wise inner-self angels.

My suggestion would be to seek out the manager and with your best wide eyed just an innocent little girl making her way in the big city look, ask

'Gosh, what were all the police officers doing here the other day?'

listen carefully to the answer. Look at their face, are they smug? Even if they do not suspect you, are they gloating over catching some perp? Are they trying to do damage control, not wanting to lose a good tenant[you]?

Most people are not good enough to hide their motives if you are paying attention

Since it seems to have nothing to do with you, it probably has nothing to do with you........and it would be normal to ask

    LAChloe,

I totally agree with you. In my mother's apartment complex, escort got bust because of the neighbors complaining about men running in and out of her apartment. This chick was high-volume too I am glad that she left before she got into more trouble.

Pro-tip for escorts who are willing to see clients at home- rent a house near an alley. Have people come in through the alley, or at night. Yes "nosy neighbor" BS is a huge issue in these situations.

edit to add- you can try this with an apartment set-up, but it doesn't eliminate all the annoying issues that happen with living so close to other apartments...
