    Question Latin Dance Shoes-for stripping?

    latin dancing shoes.jpg

    Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone here has ever danced in either Latin dancing or ballroom shoes ITC and if so are they "comfortable" (I know they aren't "sexy", but I am worried that the lack of platform might make them even worse for my feet than regular Pleasers etc )? I'm currently facing the decision of either taking time off or quitting all together (I've been dancing for 7 years in 6-8 inch heels and want to stay in the industry for another 2-3 years maximum while I complete my degree. But, I have some issues with foot pain atm).

Thanks for reading and for any advice or info' ,

I would stick to pleasers, they make them about that height. They are made specifically for strippers, and you can find them on Amazon. Just go to the pleaser website and search for thier 3-5 inch heels by your preference and copy the name into amazon.

Pleasers are the only way to go IMO, they are pretty much the same thing, but they look and perform better and they're made for strippers.

Why do you want those shoes and not the 3 inch pleasers? Those look super uncomfortable IMO.

Take it from a ballroom dancer... those are NOT more comfortable.
My feet hurt MUCH worse after 3-4 hours of that than they do after a 6-7 hour shift stripping (in Pleasers).

They have zero support; dancers want to be able to essentially feel the floor (one of the training exercises is to drag paper under your feet as you dance). The heels have always felt kind of rickety to me. Also, the bottoms are covered in suede, which is so you can glide across a wooden floor. You have to brush the soles with a wire brush every day. Once the suede runs out, the sole becomes HELLA slippery, and I have eaten shit multiple times when I was too cheap to replace my shoes. And, God forbid you step in gum or something, they'll be ruined.

Have I scared you off yet?

Well, I've tried those and they were not comfortable (I've tried EVERY size, shape, heel type etc of Pleasers lol). I wanted to try/ask info' about these because a girl at my current club was wearing them and said they were good-but I've never seen anyone wearing them ITC before, apart from her, so I was curious and wanted to ask the community for advice before investing in them.

Have you ever tried boots? Not knowing the specifics of your problem, I realise this could be way off but I always found boots to be more all-around joint-friendly. Given what I learnt abt the condition of my feet when I injured them a few months ago (MRI revealed ligaments that were damaged to the point of literally being gone, resulting in major instability), I think that dancing in boots for most of my stripping career is a lot of the reason I was able to continue dancing so long. Boots gave me such good support that even after a history of ankle injuries throughout high school, I nvr had sufficient pain or instability to suspect that smtg was (still) wrong.

I would recommend trying a knee- or thigh-high, closed toe w/ thicker heels instead of a stiletto or cone-heel model. On average you get abt 5-6months out of a pair, esp dancing full-time + lots of pole work.

^Thanks for your response, we unfortunately can't wear boots/ankle boots at my club (only on Saturdays) as it's a gown club Mon-Fri. However, my doctor thinks it may be haglund's deformity or bursitis (so I'm advised to wear open back shoes/flats until my x-rays come back etc). I currently wear 5 1/2 inch Pleaser cone heels, with straps and have found those to be great until recently.

I appreciate everyone's responses, I'll avoid the ballroom shoes or borrow some to try before actually buying them. It was me clutching at straws-it is frustrating being an injured stripper *le sigh*. My heart goes out to any of you who are dealing with pain btw ♥.

I knew a girl who wore professional dance shoes like these. I wouldn't want to wear them but hey, if they're gonna keep you in a job its not even a question!

^Thanks, yeah that's kind of my mentality atm-trying anything to manage/prevent pain and continue to work.

Do you rotate your shoes? Are you wearing pads? Have you tried wedges (which have a far lower rise (even civilian wedges). I would talk to the boss and tell him the dealio- Bar20 allowed me to wear thong style shoes (kid you not) when I broke toe.

I had no idea it was getting so bad hon! Maybe you really should consider waitressing while you're healing.

^I have tried all of the above, thanks for the input though, it's appreciated. I am seriously considering bartending at this point (haven't been able to walk properly/without pain since last Friday-even in sneakers. I would prefer to get my boobs done again than have whatever this is-no joke).

Hehe, I couldn't see you dancing in thongs lol. I could just work at Kittens and wear Uggs .

. I won't lie, it's hilarious, especially given that I'm super serious and focused... Kinda throws a wrench in that.

I second talking to the owners. Get a dr note and emphasize that it's temporary. Could you maybe wear a long enough gown that custies can't see your shoes anyway?

I would try boots over the heels, you can get sexy ones with a thicker heel that will be more supportive than stillettos.

How often are you able to remove your shoes at work? I wear 7 inch Pleasers and I take them off in the dressing room and during dances. If I don't, I can feel it. It makes a big difference for me. I absolutely struggled with foot pain too until I figured that out. Plus, I think the clear Pleasers are the heaviest. If you're wearing those, could you try the solid ones? Since they're lighter they may put less stress on your foot.

This may be kind of goofy, but have you asked your doctor for footwear recommendations? At the very least, he or she may be able to advise you on which stripper heels would be best, structurally.

Also, for what it's worth, the pain you're dealing with may be completely temporary. When I was in the Army, I went through a random two-month period where my boots were absolutely killing my heels and arches. I had no idea how to deal with it. Then one day it just magically went away.

I hope your feet get better ASAP! Our bodies are so fragile yet so important, so it's super stressful when they don't behave how we want them to.
