    1. All my makeup and beauty products are "natural" meaning none of the "dirty dozen" identified by David Suzuki http://www.davidsuzuki.org/issues/he...etic-products/
    2. I remove makeup every night and go makeup free on weekends
    3. I meditate and yoga every day
    4. I eat pretty clean and balanced, on the lowish carb WAPF diet most of the time
    5. Supplements are food based
    6. Walk my dog for at least an hour daily
    7. I get at least 15 minutes of sunlight a day during peak hours for my vitamin D, I don't believe in SPF and just stay in the shade if my skin is sensitive. I fixed my vitamin D deficiency this way.
    8. I practice LOA all the time and remember to change my mindset to one that is positive at all times and to let go of negativity. I still get angry, I just don't hang on to negative emotions.
    9. I avoid conflict and can now see how it is a waste of time to engage in flame wars, fighting and arguing.
    10. I don't fear death.

I love how so many beauty/health habits feed one another.

For example, I don't drink (became almost completely intolerant to it for unknown reasons), and so I'm not dehydrated regularly, my liver is better able to sort my shit out, and I'm not too fucked up to complete a skincare routine each night. I remove my makeup very carefully, moisturize, and use tretinoin two to three times a week. I also use sunscreen and limit sun exposure, as I'm very fair and cancer runs in my family.

I eat low carb/high fat (aka a ketogenic diet), and this has improved my skin and nails dramatically. It has also allowed me to stay off medication for my stupid pancreas. I had really terrible childhood eating habits, and I was nearly prediabetic by the time a doctor took my hypoglycemia seriously.

I only wash my hair twice a week, which allows me to use heat on it far less often--once or twice a week max, though often not at all.

I floss daily and use an electric toothbrush with a timer to ensure I am brushing rigorously for the recommended full two minutes.

I drink a crap ton of water.

I also drink matcha green tea, which has the tea leaf ground up in it, allowing for ingestion of several times more antioxidants than regular green tea.

I wash my makeup brushes and Clarisonic brushes weekly and use a cleansing spray between uses.

Exfoliation for me is basically a spiritual practice. That and other self-care techniques keep me way less stressed than I used to be.

I do intermittent fasting, which helps prevent weight gain, diabetes, inflammation, etc. It also really reset my relationship with food.

Avoiding conflict and stress helps my skin in so many ways. I'm not breaking out from all the stress, and I'm not making death threats with my eyebrows at idiots anymore, so I hopefully won't have the same wrinkles my sister, who is three years my senior, now has.

I eat a balanced diet but take a multivitamin just in case, as well as fish oil to keep my omega 3 in balance with my 6--hopefully.

Thanks for this thread! I've been wanting to exercise more regularly, and listing all the stuff I already do made me realize it's silly to not dedicate 30-60 minutes/day to something so beneficial!

I try to avoid stress from food/everyday life.
I sleep in completely dark room, avoid phones in my bedroom, i wish i could have a room which willl be isolated absolutely from noices.
I sleep on a silky pillow to prevent wrinkles and hair damage while i sleep.
I have a comfortable bed and silky sheets.
I try to walk every morning- i feel like skin always much freshier after that.
I drink warm water because it is absorbiing better, but i do not drink too much. As much as body requests. I have a good filter, i avoid bottled water, because it is not good for a planed, and kinda gross water itself.
I use only natural products. I do not exfoliate, i dont know why i need so much stress on my body. Skin peels by itself. Body knows best.
I make almost all my food. In future i will grow absolutly all my food.
I do exercises for my face and neck. I really see the different before and after. I dont believe in cosmetic surgeries.

OMG!! I love you. I don't believe in SPF either. Your risk of getting skin cancer from a tanning bed is less than 3/10 of one percent and ever since I found that out, I started questioning EVERYTHING I hear on the news, magazines, online "gurus" and "health" forums and just started listening to MY body and what it was telling me. Completely stopped consuming mass media, and I am more alive and in tune w myself and my beauty LOA for life, always. Nothing is more important than that I feel good, because when I feel the best, I shine inside and out.

^ Just a tip for ladies who have an acidic drink early in the morning- I did ACV for years and it affected my tooth enamel- use a straw and drink slowly at the back of your throat and follow with a rinse of water when finished.

I'm actually very curious about this. One of my co workers mentioned she doesn't use any kind of sunscreen because they have toxic ingredients and are worse than just using nothing? Do you have any more info?

I'm all for letting people make their own choices, but perpetuating the belief that sunscreen is toxic is bad science. The only sunscreen you should be concerned about is aerosol sunscreen, because many people aren't careful and inhale it when they're applying. Scientists aren't certain what kind of effect inhaled sunscreen might have on the body. Please look at the rising rates of skin cancer, especially in young women. Regular sun care is necessary for everyone who does not want skin damage that WILL result in premature aging, and especially for those of us who are fair skinned and don't want skin cancer. Skin cancer is extremely insidious because so many people do not commit to proper screening. The cancer often spreads before it is detected, making it very deadly. My mother had breast and skin cancer, but she refused to get the skin cancer diagnosed for a long time because the first step was to cut huge chunks of her skin out where it had been most effected. She did chemo for the breast tumor, and then had that one removed. When she was recovering from that surgery, I privately asked her surgical oncologist whether the chemo she had undergone for breast cancer would do anything to help with the obvious skin cancer she had. He said no, because skin cancer requires much harder hitting chemotherapy than most other types of cancer. Thankfully, I was able to make her see another doctor about her skin cancer, and she had the cancerous tissue removed. She now has large, unsightly, crater-like areas all along her forearms where all of the cancerous tissue used to be.

It's fine and dandy to think happy thoughts and feel good about yourself, but my mother tanned every day because, "Sunshine makes me happy!" I haven't tanned since I was probably 16, and I use sunscreen every time I'm going to be exposed to sun for more than a few minutes. I am very fair skinned, and I am NOT Vitamin D deficient according to a blood test done by a doctor.

I hate to be a buzzkill, but I just don't think this misinformation should be lying around a thread about great beauty habits.

If you're interested in reading more, I found this article to be a good introductory response to the anti-chemical paranoia that surrounds sunscreen: http://www.iflscience.com/health-and...unscreen-toxic

^^ Thank you for sharing! What do you use for sunscreen on your body and/or face? I just read that mineral sunscreens are much better. Also, if aloe is in your ss, it can damage skin cells??

Aloe is very powerfull plant. And personally it does not match me, not like ihave an allergy to aloe. It is just not for me.
I remember once i had a stafilacoco infection and aloe made everything much worst for me. Antibiotics did not helped too in my situation.
Also aloe can grow cells, and aloe does not care which cells. So if you have a tumor...you got it right?i see alot good told about aloe, but i have not seen even once someone wrote that aloe way too powerfull that it can be dangeous.
I still put it on cut, burns but i will not drink it like some people.
    ----
About ss, another nights i had an idea from nowhere. how much cost an emu / ostrich egg or chick?
So i started to look for about, found that emu oil is a good sun protector.
    ---
Also when you eat properly vitimins and minerals will work from inside out.
I have tried Astaxanthin, it is very powerfull antioxidant. I have read alot about it,anti - aging, helps to recover faster and bla. Word anti-aging made me buy it)) but way too expensive i understand that process very expensive to take that component from algae.
And as factory says to see a result you have to take it atleast for 6 month..

Japanese sunscreen is where it's at. Unfortunately, it can get a little pricey. I really like Biore Watery Essence on my face. It doesn't leave a white cast, doesn't smell very strong or like typical sunscreen, and doesn't screw up my foundation. I would use it all over if it weren't a little on the expensive side. To keep the cost down, I use Neutragena Beach Defense on my body. This one has a noticeable fragrance (nothing like the usual sunscreen smell), but I like it. My boyfriend always tells me I smell good when I wear it, but then complains that it smells too strong when I make him put some on for golf. So I guess if you're picky about scented products that the smell might be too noticeable. This has some skincare junkie jargon, but it does go into why many Asian sunscreen products are viewed as better than most on the American markets: http://fiftyshadesofsnail.com/2015/0...nce-spf-50-pa/

I can't think of any reason why aloe would damage skin cells if you're not sensitive or allergic to it, but I don't know much about it, admittedly. I know it's an anti-inflammatory and inhibits bacterial growth in wounds. My guess would be that the only reason why it's added to sunscreen would be because people associate aloe vera with "healing" sunburns, so they might be attracted to the product. I don't think it actually benefits the product.

Slight threadjack- I've been cynical about alleged cancer-causing things since my dad has been working with tons of poisonous chemicals for decades & he's in good health in his mid-60s. He just might be a really lucky guy who lacks the genes that would be triggered by exposure to toxins.

UV rays do damage skin. That I can admit. I have pretty thick skin & I even get leathery after a lot of sun.

I thought Japanese sunscreens all contain alcohol? Actually I just looked up the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence sunscreen and the second ingredient is alcohol. The reviews on makeupalley are all fantastic though!
