    Default Vitamix?

I'm considering upgrading my decade-old food processor to a nice blender. I'm in research mode and have been looking at the Vitamix as well as its competitors. I've read that the vitamixes have an issue with leaving black Teflon particles in your food? That freaks me out considering the high price point.

Do you have a nice blender? What brand do you use? What do you use it for? What complaints do you have about it? What do you love about it?

I have a Ninja and I adore it.

It's great for smoothies, salsa, soup, etc.
It even blends leafy greens well.

i still use my trusty bullet.

omg whirlerz I tried a wheatgrass shot at the whole foods market and had extreme diarrhea - never again for me.

I just blended kale and spinach to make mint chocolate chip smoothie.

Well they all i suppose will blend a wheatgrass. Maybe you are looking for a juicer.
I have been also interesting in juicer for wheatgrass. But i bought a powder and for now it is ok.
I blended a kale, i may try to grow a wheatgrass to try.

I love my vitamix, the dry blender is awesome for coffee and spices, and the liquid blender I mostly use for soups and ice cappaccinos hummus too! I'm a little biased though because I haven't tried the other blenders XD
Though I blended turmeric and it took a little time to get the smell out of the dry blender! They also come with cook books and recipes that only really work with blenders with that kind of power.
I've also made some really bland ice cappaccinos, I would not add enough liquid for the amount of ice, they came out unbelivably smooth and thick though >_< (can you tell I'm in love with my blender?)

Personally I like the idea of the NutriBullet or NutriNinja a lot more just because I HATE having pulp or bits in my smoothies, but I love stuff like chia seeds and hemp seeds etc, all of which both the above-mentioned blenders supposedly eliminate? That being said, Vitamix is bigger so probably better if you want a functional one that does soup and all the other fun stuff.

I bought a $20 dollar blender & am happy with it. I might have chunkier smoothies but so what. So savings protip- doing your smoothies in a 2ndhand Cuisinart or cheap blender works as well as the $$$$ blenders.

(I've never been big into juicing, I need fiber. SO fyi my preference has to do with that.)

edit to add- bargain protip- Cuisinart makes a mini-processor that slices things down to puree & basically does the same thing as some of these super-blenders. I've seen these at 2ndhand stores. If you don't want to pay $100-something for a high speed blender, check out your thrift store first.

does the ninja bullet actually make the veggies/fruits into a juice substance? I currently use a cheap 20$ blender and make a kale/fruit smoothy daily with that, its good but I wish it was more like juice like at robeks but I don't want a juicer cuz it takes too much other nutrient out. I always see the bullet at target for like 100$ but wonder if its any better.

^^ Its supposed to blend then so much that it basically makes them super smooth. ITs whole thing is that it turns foods into superfoods cos they become easier to absorb etc. Whether or not I believe that is a different thing, but I would love to have a smoothie that is 100% smooth no matter what I put into it.

The Blendtec that I have is a juicer/smoothie maker in one. I got mine at Sams Club it was on special for 300. The blendtec you never have issues with the blade going dull like you would other smoothie makers. I use mine multiple times a day as I juice a lot.

I feel like vitamix and blendtec are very similiar. I believe Vitamix is a little higher end than blendtec though.

My question is about the juicer (I bought the one MM recommends). I’m having a hard time taking it apart to clean! The last 2 pieces always seem to be stuck together. It’s the black cone-shaped thing that won’t budge! I’ve been soaking in water and light soap to loosen it. Any other tips? Am I missing something? Thanks!

^I have the Breville pro juicer. Do you have an older one? The new ones have a really nice, heavy-duty, protective plastic between the base and the centrifugal piece that helps prevent the issue you're describing. But i did experience that problem with the last one i had. I think a lubricant would help with that.
