I think they should have waited on the outcome of the suits before awarding Jenner. And I was surprised there was no effort to apologize... I would have laid low for a bit instead of going for all this hoopla.

I saw somewhere the reason jenner got that award was his people persuaded the media the show would get a lot of viewers.

It's ironic once you learn that he was anything but courageous as a father and husband for 25-30 yrs. ducking his sons and daughter. He got with Kris and shrugged his kids off as they called and begged for time with him. This comes from their own lips. I'm glad he transitioned to Caitlyn but er...let's not go re-writing history.

I was wondering about that whole car crash thing. Even if he wasn't drunk, he was likely still driving recklessly, and of course even if he was drunk nothing would happen because of the name Kardashian/Jenner.
Personally I do not think he/she (don't even start on me about political correctness), deserves that award. The stupid ass Kardashians get everything as it is, let the award go to someone who actually earned it. Having enough $$ to get a sex change operation and be put on the cover of magazines (which is probably only because the magazine benefits, I doubt they actually give a shit about the transgender community), does not earn you a courage award.
I'm sure I'll get flamed for this post, but pfffffffffft.

Yeah can you use her real name... it's just an insult most trans peeps. And since there are trans members to this forum. As a mod, you should probably be a little more tolerant? Don't you think?
I don't care if you hate the Kardasians or whatever. I have no idea what that show is about since I've never seen an episode, or never follow celebrity news.
I do think it's a big deal for the trans community for someone with this much access to publicity. It really does bring awareness and maybe inspire others on their journey to have the courage to be themselves! I know this is a hard concept to understand if you've never experienced it first hand.

Serious question: when referring to trans people in the past, are you still supposed to use labels that exclusively suggest their chosen gender? Like, do we still refer to her as Kris Kardashian's ex-husband? Ex-wife? Skirt it all the time and say former spouse?
I'm all for living and letting live with whatever parts and pronouns you want, and I'm sure transitioning in the spotlight unthinkably difficult, but I think we should judge people on the sum of their actions, and that the award should therefore have gone to someone else.

I'll probably get some mad but I question the whole story of transitioning. I know there are people who truly are trans but this family has shown they'll do anything for attention. Even if it is true doesn't make Jenner a hero. Anyway, nope I don't believe Jenner deserved the award, it should have gone to the other competitors like Lauren Hill (not the singer) who played basketball while losing to cancer. Jenner is no hero. Yes BRUCE Jenner was an Olympian but nothing after that, except on a sleazy show.

^I don't know how extensive her transition was, but I can't imagine anyone going through something so stigmatized and psychologically difficult just for funsies... I'm not a Kardashian fan in the slightest, but that doesn't really add up.

They would. After all, Kim Kardashian married Kris Humphries just for the show. We don't know how far Jenner has gone with this, has genitals been changed? How about hormones?

But if Jenner did earlier there would be name calls. Now it's more acceptable and more in the media.

Caitlyn doesn't care! Cape for Caitlyn all you want but had you looked at his special when he was pre op, he said point blank he's not getting hung up on that and expects his kids to call him Dad and his fans to call him either pronoun. BTW, it's OK to disagree but let's not go with name calling.
He should have gotten an LGBT related award not a sports award. His old behind is not in the running anymore. Let the young stars shine.

I watched the interview where Jenner discussed transitioning. Problem I have is that being with the Kardashians was something that would put her in the spotlight. I just can't imagine this being a real struggle. Also she won against someone that played basketball while battling cancer? Sorry I think that was a huge mistake. I mean really? Another thing was the gender and sexuality issue. So if you're saying you're a woman attracted to women then you're a lesbian. Yet nope I'm straight? So then you're attracted to men? Nope again?
See there's something that seems off about this because if you've always known you're a woman even if society may not recognize it you still would understand your attractions to some degree. I'm not saying people can't find their true self later in life but it seems apparent that the entire K clan desperately needs to stay in the limelight.
It's so bad that someone created an app just to block anything Kardashian that pops up in the news feed. Also in that interview they finally include the first batch of children that you almost never even see? I mean that was just crappy really. So award for transitioning and having the money to do so? I don't see that as a ground breaking act. You're wealthy why would that be difficult?
Also someone keeps leaking information on surgical procedures but doesn't get sued or fired? Again double not buying it.
Too much "we need to stay in the media eye by any means necessary" that even a manslaughter charge can get pushed under the rug? The only thing that's happening now is showing society how easy it is to whatever you want as long as you have the right connections to the powers that run media.
I'm not impressed with Caitlyn at all. Courage , award but you killed someone? Ok
Authorities in Los Angeles said the crash on Pacific Coast Highway on February 7 occurred when Bruce's sport utility vehicle allegedly rear-ended Howe's white Lexus, pushing it into oncoming traffic.
Her vehicle was struck by a Hummer traveling in the opposite direction and she died at the scene.
Wow.

I'm not one for being a PC police, but out of respect to the many amazing trans members we have on here I'd either use gender neutral pronouns or the pronouns that reflect her chosen gender.
I'm sure if Caitlyn decides to remove little Bruce they'll make another docuseries on it.
"Fake tits are like Kevlar. They don't guarantee your chances of survival but they sure as hell improve it."

who on earth would transition just for attention... a lot of hate going on here, disappointing.

I am unable to articulate how little I care about this whole thing, but calling a person what they wish to be called is pretty basic.
And come on, it was a car accident. Sad, unfortunate, regrettable, but an accident. If it was Bruce or Caitlyn Smith we would never even know about it. And let's face it, anyone who has driven in Cal knows they can't drive for shit, and I'm from Mass.....
