Smiley I bought a new blender!

So I've been working weird hours (don't most of us?) and have been in dire need of proper nutrition. I've been wanting to change this and not just scrounge around for whatever available or not eating at all.

After waking up at 7 PM, getting some coffee and donuts for breakfast and feeling groggy, I finally went out and bought a blender.

I'm just so excited about this blender. I just wanted to tell someone. I've had my eye on it for a while and I finally got it today. I just made a smoothie with it and it was delicious. It's this one:

    I love it because:

    • It’s small and simple. Just add some fruits or veggies in the cup, flip it upside down and blend. Then take the cup, pop a lid on it, and take it where you need to go.

    • Instant healthy snack/meal in a cup. I don’t have family obligations and tend to work myself to death, plus I don’t always have time to sit down and eat a meal at work. The blender is strong and it came with some recipes. I just throw my own in, and I can see myself taking the cup to work and drinking it as I go.

    • It blends everything really smoothly and the cups and lids it comes with have been sturdy for me, no leaking, and easy to clean.

Unfortunately due to my lifestyle I haven’t been cooking homemade meals nearly as often as I used to. But until I free up my time, making some instant veggie or fruit smoothies will do. It certainly beats scrounging around for whatever at the last minute or getting some fast food for a quick fix. Maybe I'll finally start making stuff with kale that everyone's talking about. I’m going to get the bigger one next.

Nice! I also bought one, (Idk if it's as nice as yours, a Hamilton Beach brand) from Target. I haven't used it yet though

^I'm not sure how the less expensive brands are, but I would imagine they're a lot better than how my old blender was.

I'm just very particular about kitchen appliances and went with the more expensive option because of my old blender from years ago. That thing was ready to go flying off the counter when I needed to blend stuff or the lid would go flying off so I'd have to hold it down. It was messy and leaked at the lid, and sometimes chunks remained at the bottom and it wasn't easy to clean or get the chunks out from under the blades.

I got this one a few months ago from Heston Blumenthal:

I seriously love this thing so much. I can use it to make smoothies, cut vegetables, grate cheese, mix soups. It blends my smoothies so well and has cut my prep time for things like fried rice down so much as I just stick the vegetables through it instead of chopping them with a knife (and has different thickness settings if I want them chopped fine or thick).

Starling, I got the nutriblend which is basically the same thing, and I love it too. So convenient, and you really do feel better after drinking a green juice. What also helps me is cutting up the fruits/veggies and putting them in little Tupperware containers so I can just dump it in and blend when needed.

Mine came with a thing like that too! It came with a food processor thing and a dough kneader, and I also like the idea of just putting some veggies in there and dicing them fairly quickly. I haven't used that part yet, but have off on the weekend and going to see how well it can dice some tomatoes and onions for some scrambled eggs.

That's a good idea with the tupperware. I've used my blender a few times already and just chop up some carrots and things right at the spot, but it's a good idea for days where I know I'm going to rush or do something insane like work 16 hours back to back.

I had more than a couple that I made so far since I got it, but I feel relatively the same. But I do have fresher breath I noticed lol. I normally like fruits and veggies and this has been a really easy way to prepare and eat them.

Ooh, I'm jealous; I really want a Ninja or a Vitamix! I hate my current blender, but my boyfriend thinks I'm crazy to spend so much on a new one when ours still functions. I'm at least going to pick these blender bottles up later so that I can make simple protein shakes without having to clean blender blades: http://www.target.com/p/blender-bott...blender+bottle

I realized how old I am when I thought to myself that it's a complete bother my friend wants to meet in Montrose tonight--now I'm going to have to rush my blender bottle buying! Ugh!

That site does look good! I've been experimenting and throwing some things together. I am checking out some of the ginger recipes (I love ginger) and I did not think to combine with apples. I'm going to try those out.
